- "It's so wonderful to see you, my little lambs! Welcome to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies. My name is Miriam Strout and I'll be your supervisor while you're here! The healing arts are complex and vital to the wizarding world, but I'll be here to help you along! For your school project, you'll be learning about the foundations of healing and what it means to be a Healer."
- — Miriam Strout greeting seventh-year Hogwarts students to St Mungo's[src]
St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries operated a student programme for seventh-year students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who wished to learn how to become a professional Healer for work experience. The students were overseen by a Healer employed at the hospital, who taught them the various duties and responsibilities of the profession, and had them complete special assignments at the hospital to help the Healers manage the hospital and treat patients.[1]
History[]
During the 1990–1991 school year at Hogwarts, five students participated in the programme: Chiara Lobosca, Jae Kim, Jacob's sibling, Penny Haywood and Talbott Winger. Penny was excited to brew healing potions for the hospital, Jae Kim had only been assigned on the programme by Professor Dumbledore to keep him out of trouble, while Talbott Winger was reminded of his deceased mother, who had worked at the hosptial as a Healer. The students were greeted in the St Mungo's reception by Healer Miriam Strout who informed them about the nature of their upcoming work at the hospital. After talking to students and answering their questions, she showed them the Alchemy Room, where all healing potions in the hospital were brewed, along with studying the magical substances and cures. Strout first tasked the students with organising the Potions Cabinet. Jacob's sibling then took to dealing with patients in the hospital, including Rubeus Hagrid and Bilton Bilmes.[1]

Healing Hands[]
This assignment involved learning how to become a Healer, which included gaining advice from Professor Dumbledore in his office about healing magic, brushing up on their knowledge of healing herbs in Herbology (such as dittany), tending to sick students in the Hospital Wing with Madam Pomfrey and conversing with sick patients in St Mungo's.[2]
In Short Supply[]
This assignment involved the collection of various herbs needed for the brewing of healing potions, due to Herbologists who supplied herbs to the hospital mixing up their orders. This involved categorising several potions in the Ministry of Magic sent in by St Mungo's, the reviewing of healing herbs in Herbology, collecting ingredients in the Forbidden Forest and conversing with sick patients in the hospital.[3]
Ward for Serious Bites[]
Amos Diggory, an employee of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, assigned Jacob's sibling with writing a report for the Ministry on the treatment of creature-related injuries. This invovled brewing a Wound-Cleaning Potion at Hogwarts in Potions class under Professor Snape's supervision. They also attended a lecture by Diggory at the Ministry about biting beasts, such as the Doxy. At Hogwarts, they tended to a student in the Hospital Wing who was suffering from a cat bite from Mrs Norris. In the Hospital Ward at St Mungo's, they conversed with a dragonolist patient who was suffering from a Chimaera bite. After these tasks, Diggory reviewed their report, and was impressed by how informative and thorough it was.[4]
