A Star Letter was the name given to the best letter sent in to the Daily Prophet by a reader on any given day.[1]

Ethelbard Mordaunt sent in a letter to the Prophet complaining about the antics of his neighbour, Elladora Guffy, who had a habit of putting "amusing" spells on his furniture and other household items, and his intention of leaving a copy of a previous Daily Prophet article "Why Dustbins Weren't Meant to Kick" under her doormat. This letter was judged the best letter of the day by the Daily Prophet's main office, which proceeded to publish it in their Letters Page.[1]
