"Keeper defence; the Keeper holds the broom horizontally with one hand and one foot curled around the handle, while keeping all limbs outstretched. The Starfish without stick should never be attempted."

The Starfish and Stick move

The Starfish and Stick was a Quidditch tactic employed by Keepers. The Keeper gripped their broomstick with one hand and one foot hooked around the shaft, while stretching their body and other limbs out, effectively blocking all three of the goal posts that they were defending, in an effort to block the Quaffle. The Starfish without the stick was not recommended.[1]

During the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Madam Rolanda Hooch taught fifth year students this tactic in Flying class at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[2]
