Steen National Bank was an American No-Maj financial institution established in March 1848.[1] Its central branch was located at 1790 6th Avenue in New York in 1926.[1][2]
History[]
On 6 December 1926, Mary Lou Barebone held a New Salem Philanthropic Society rally on the front steps of the bank. Both Newton Scamander and Jacob Kowalski went into the bank. Jacob Kowalski spoke to bank manager Gilbert Bingley in the bank to request a bank loan to open up a bakery, but was refused a loan due to him having insufficient collateral. Inside, Newt chased after his loose Niffler, and Jacob found Newt's silver Occamy egg. After Newt retrieved his Niffler from a bank vault with Jacob, Gilbert Bingley approached the men and accused them of robbery, sounding an alarm, only for Newt to use the Full Body-Bind Curse on him, and Disapparate away from the bank with Jacob before the guards showed up.[3]
Behind the scenes[]
- The address of the central office is given as 1790 6th Avenue on both a prop loan application and prop wanted poster featured in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. However, in the Fantastic Beasts virtual tour featured on Google Maps, the address is given as 300 West 14th Street.[4]
- The date of incorporation for Steen National Bank is anachronistic, as national banks were not formed in the United States until the National Bank Act of 1863.
