The Sunken Vault was one of the five fabled Cursed Vaults linked to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This particular vault was located underwater in the Great Lake in a cave.[1] The Sunken Vault contained the Crown of Mneme, a dangerous magical artefact linked to the alleged Dark wizard Dai Ryusaki.[2]
History[]
The vault itself was located inside the mouth of a statue of a Giant Squid, the entrance of which needed to be cleared due to fallen debris. The vault had a curse placed that made everyone in the room relive their worst memories in a loop if touched. It is unknown what, if anything, was inside, as it didn't open even after Jacob, Ben Copper, Merula Snyde and Jacob's sibling managed to shake off the curse during their break-in in the 1989–1990 school year. The vault was sealed again by Jacob's sibling after a duel with Patricia Rakepick.[1]
During this expedition, Merula Snyde sought the Crown of Mneme from the vault for 'R'.[2]
