Name[]

Shouldn't this article be named Confringo. We could redrict Blasting Curse. -- 124.185.175.240 ´

We only use the incantation as title if the actual name isn´t known. And there are more Blasting Curses, such us Expulso.--Rodolphus 07:58, 2 May 2009 (UTC) *RedirectHungry Shark Evolution Helpline (talk) 13:24, November 7, 2014 (UTC)

Deathly Hallows: Part 2[]

Was this seen in Deathly Hallows: Part 2 cast by Voldemort? Because after Harry revealed himself, he obviously tried to cast Confringo on Nagini, and then ran away, and then Voldemort began blowing up the Entrance Courtyard trying to stop Harry. The spells he cast literally sent explosions flying at Harry, so was that a Blasting Charm? Would just like to know, thanks :) AlastorMoody 22:23, July 26, 2011 (UTC)

It is no where confirmed that Peter Pettigrew used it ever. Fudge said that he "Blasted the Street apart" he didn't say he used the blasting curse. Though it is possible because it said that "Black killed 13 people with a single curse." It could have been Expulso or another spell. I think it should be a possible use. Also I think that Lego Harry Potter is not a cannon source as J.K. Rowling was not involved. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 50.81.221.237 (talkcontribs) 21:01, October 4, 2011.

Under our canon policy, information from the films and video games can be considered canon, as long as it does not directly contradict the books (e.g., Padma Patil being a Gryffindor). Thus, if it is revealed in Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 that Pettigrew used a Blasting Curse to kill the Muggles, the Harry Potter Wiki would treat it as canon, because it isn't specified which spell he uses in the book. However, if it isn't specified in the game what spell he uses, this information should removed from the article, because it is pure speculation. Starstuff (Owl me!) 04:04, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Main Picture[]

Is it possible to get the main picture to animate without having to click on it? Because other pages, such as the Reductor Curse page, have moving pictures with no need to click on it. AlastorMoody 01:55, March 24, 2012 (UTC)

Peter Pettigrew's usage[]

This wiki has generally said that this was the exact curse by Peter Pettigrew to cause his street massacre, but is this proven that was the specific spell that he used? It is clearly said that a "curse" was used to murder 19 Muggles in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and this is known to be most the most powerful explosive spell of this description, but is this merely an assumption? Other curses such as Expulso are explosive in nature, so it could have been another spell, including one unidentified.

Following from Starstuff's comment above, LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is the only source to show Pettigrew blowing up the street and killing those Muggles, but the game does not, from what I believe (and I know most things about the game) call the curse he uses explicitly this spell. Logically, the curse was most likely the Blasting Curse, but I still think it needs clarifying in itself, similar to how I have argued that Protego Diabolica is almost certainly a curse due to its nature, but I was against placing it in the "Curses" category, simply because it has never officially been called one.
