The source given for this article's name is the HP Lexicon, which, while it's a very good fansite, is still a fansite. Has this spell been referred to as the Boggart-Banishing Spell in any source we consider canon? If not, it needs to be moved back to Riddikulus. -- 1337star (talk) 18:53, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

"'Oh bravo!' cried Professor Tofty, who was examining Harry again, when Harry demonstrated a perfect boggart banishing spell."
—Harry Potter being awesome.[src]
Yes? It's not capitalized though, so should this be moved to "Boggart banishing spell"? -- 1337star (talk) 19:06, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

Nom: Part Deux

I understand that it is referred to as "boggart banishing spell" in the fifth book; however, this is not capitalized. So should we name this "Boggart banishing spell" all lower-case except the first word, or should we name it "Riddikulus", which is what Pottermore has it as? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 19:51, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

I think maybe the former, but let's see what some others think. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:11, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
The fact that "Boggart banishing spell" is not captalized leads me to think that, perhaps, this is just a description and, if so, it would be improper to call the article that when we have the steadfast "Riddikulus" (it would be like having an article titled "that bushy-haired girl" instead of "Hermione Granger"). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 01:30, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
That's what I was thinking as well... should I rename it "Riddikulus", then? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 01:34, January 21, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, go ahead and rename it. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:13, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

List of Boggarts

The list of Boggarts on this page is on the Boggart page as well. As this article is about the charm to defeat Boggarts and not Boggarts themselves, I feel that it would be safe removing it... wouldn't it? --Hunnie Bunn (Owl me!) 20:06, February 10, 2013 (UTC)

Bumping. --Don't forget: Elvendork! (It's unisex!) 22:23, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't really see the point in duplicating the information. As long as both charts are the same, go ahead and zap the one on this page. ProfessorTofty (talk) 23:42, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Destructive Effects

Based on the last Trivia entry, could we include in the spell's description that, if it hits something else than a Boggart, it will damage it somewhat? Or are we assuming this is just a non-canon, one-off mistake? --Scrooge MacDuck (talk) 20:21, May 10, 2018 (UTC)
