Seperating articles?

I've been thinking over the past few days. Considering the existence of the Institute of Muggle Studies, do you think we should create a separate article on the field of study in general. which could possibly be used in the Magical abilities section instead of the class link? This one here could be moved to Muggle Studies (class) and the general one would either be named Muggle Studies, or perhaps Non-magic studies, which has been used in a lower canon source, but appers to be a more general term like Non-magic people.Rodolphus (talk) 10:34, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Yeah, I think they should be separated too. We have canon evidence that it was a field of study in the wider wizarding world, so a general page should be set up for it. That way, a page for the school subject having "(class)" in the name would be easier to find because it's clearly specific to that. - Kates39 (talk) 11:20, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

The same could be done for Astronomy.Rodolphus (talk) 11:23, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I think so too. We know enough about Astronomy in the wizarding world to build a page about it. - Kates39 (talk) 12:00, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

So which title do you think should be used? Based on our naming of non-magic people and it's use in the CS game, I'd say non-magcal studies. I think it is studied all over the world, given the books about scourers.Rodolphus (talk) 12:12, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I'm all for creating an article for Muggle Studies, where we could focus on things such its relevance with regard to wizarding secrecy, specifically to authorities like the Muggle Liaison Office, Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee and the Office of Misinformation; perhaps a history section talking about people like Blenheim Stalk, Mordicus Egg, and its relevance for Ministry employees like Phoebus Penrose and Myra Curio. We know from Fantastic Beasts: Cases from the Wizarding World that the Muggle Liaison Office is involved in locating and oversees the utility of areas set off as magical creature reserves, since the reason why the Fairy forest had not had the Muggle-Repelling Charms renewed was because the necessary paperwork was held back at said office, we could mention that, right? As for name? Move Muggle Studies to "Muggle Studies (class)" and make a new Muggle Studies article. Tfoc (talk) 12:41, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Moving Muggle Studies to a different name and then having either the page about the field in general called 'Muggle Studies' or having it called something else and 'Muggle Studies' left as a disambiguation page would create a lot of work, as there are nearly two hundred pages that link to 'Muggle Studies' that would then all link to the wrong place. Thoughts? -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  15:16, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Could the link be changed by a bot?Rodolphus (talk) 16:02, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Alternatively, if bots don't work, going on character pages and manuaøly fixing the links to reflect the right page could be a collaborated effort. Also, some of those pages would then direct to the right place, in any case, seen as how every character without a verified O.W.L. or N.E.W.T. in Muggle Studies should have their abilities and skill section refer to the area of study and not the subject, so not all of those pages would necessarily have to be sorted out. Tfoc (talk) 17:06, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I would use the name "Muggle Studies" for the general page, and the {{Youmay}} template at the top of the page for the class page will guide anyone searching for it through page links. It shouldn't be too difficult to getting links sorted out that need to be switched to the class page. I think a bot could be very easily used, and a collaborated effort like suggested by Tfoc wouldn't take too long. - Kates39 (talk) 20:55, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

To be fair, the collaborated effort were only if we couldn't get it done with a bot... Tfoc (talk) 21:04, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I know, but it shouldn't take long if needed. - Kates39 (talk) 21:30, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I totally misread that the first time around. I read it as saying; "and a collaborated effort like suggested by Tfoc would take too long" - my bad. :'D Tfoc (talk) 22:59, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
