In "Goblet of Fire" Harry used the triwizard cup as portkey twice. Is it possible to use the same portkey twice? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

Good point. It's said you can only use it once, but maybe you can use it to go from point A to B & back. --Mark Hp7 (Talk to me) 19:08, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

That's simple, Crouch Jr. probably added a second Portkey spell over the first. The spell placed on it by Crouch would send the victim to Voldemort, while the original would send the winner to the front of the maze to prove they got to the cup first. Ztyran

There also seems to be a difference in how the portkey is activated. The boot they used to travel to the Quidditch Cup was set to go at a specific time. Before that, Amos Diggory was able to pick it up and carry it. The Triwizard Cup, however, seemed to be activated by touch instead. This could possibly account for how Harry was sent back to Hogwarts when he grabbed it again. - Nick O'Demus 12:22, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
This indicates that a the spell can be set to be either timed or touch as Professor Dumbledore was able to do this with a piece of the Fountain of Magical Brethren near the end of Order of the Phoenix book. Ztyran (talk) 06:13, February 2, 2017 (UTC)

I lent out my copy of Deathly Hallows and just now I needed it for reference. When people watch a portkey arrive with or without its intended passengers, what do they see or hear? Does the portkey appear in a flash of light or with a loud bang or something? Or is it simply not there one moment and there the next? CorbeauKarasu 21:41, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

Here is a quote from the book, when George and Lupin arrived via portkey at the burrow "A blue light had appeared in the darkness; It grew larger and brighter, and Lupin and George appeared, spinning and then falling." --BachLynn23 21:58, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

How do you unlock the information about Portkeys on Pottermore?

I can't find anything to click on! Help! Now! Please? HarryPotterRules1 (talk) 22:32, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

If I remember correctly, there's a crate full of objects in the moment, and the one you need to click on in order to unlock the Portkey information is a silver, cylindrical one in the centre. Starstuff (Owl me!) 22:59, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

Portkeys pictures

I suggest to insert a picture of Portkey boot used by Weasley and Diggory family, Harry Potter and Hermione Granger to travel to Quidditch World Cup in 1994. Andre G. Dias (talk) 15:42, January 6, 2014 (Brazil)
