Appearences[]

Hello everybody,

I just wondered when the word "puffapod" appears in the third book, I didn't notice it existed.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm French.

In Chapter 8, Flight of the Fat Lady. I quote:
"Ron was still in a bad mood with Hermione next day. He barely talked to her all through Herbology, even though he, Harry, and Hermione were working together on the same Puffapod.
“How’s Scabbers?” Hermione asked timidly as they stripped fat pink pods from the plants and emptied the shining beans into a wooden pail.
“He’s hiding at the bottom of my bed, shaking,” said Ron angrily, missing the pail and scattering beans over the greenhouse floor.
“Careful, Weasley, careful!” cried Professor Sprout as the beans burst into bloom before their very eyes.

Potion ingredient[]

In the console versions of the Philosopher's Stone video game, Puffapod spores are an ingredient in the Antidote to Common Poisons. However, the ingredients given in this game are entirely different to the required ingredients on Pottermore, which is of course higher canon. Does this however mean that the spores can be nonetheless used as a generic ingredient? It is also interesting how in many video games that potions are given different recipes, and it is canonically established that potions can be brewed in different ways and with different ingredients. Agreed. It should be noted in the BTS section that it's unclear if it is an alternative recipe or a non-canon depiction. I ahave already added an example of how I would do it on the Moondew article.Rodolphus (talk) 10:14, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes I agree with that perspective. However, should puffapod spores be treated as basic potion-making ingredients; although the recipe is not considered canon, the fact that they can be used regardless is perhaps proof that they can be used in potion-making generically? Agreed. The fact that Puffapod spores can be used is not contradicted and I would consider it canon. Rodolphus (talk) 10:21, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
