The nature of the relic - control or summon and/or create Inferi?[]

HL spoilers ahead. According to Ominis, the relic could NOT create (though it does seem to summon) Inferi, but control them. However the MC comments that they don't seem to be controlled at all. But then, later, when you find Sebastian, before Solomon attacks, it seems he IS controlling the ones around him and even says he can control them and other dark magic too. So... which is it...? Well, it's not a hive mind, I don't think. When Ominis says it controls the inferi, that is true, but it's predicated on the bearer of the artefact exerting his will on them. Sebastian was nowhere near, nor aware that the inferi elsewhere in the tomb were attacking MC, so he wasn't there to tell them not to. It could control the inferi, something that usually only the one who raised them could do, but it had to be used to do so. Otherwise, they were left to their own devices. Which is to say, they would attack those intruding upon the tomb, which was what the one that cursed them probably wanted them to do in the first place. Renaming[]

Doesn't the game refer to this object as "Dark relic"? WeaseleyIsOurKing89 (talk) 09:45, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

I understood that to be a common noun, but if that's its given name, then possibly. Something else to consider: the quest name "In the Shadow of the Relic" names it as "The Relic". Castlemore (talk) 11:03, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
This conversation is no longer relevant as WIOK was a sockpuppet of a banned user. However, I am considering a rename anyway (see topic below). Castlemore (talk) 17:04, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

Rename proposal to Relic[]

I know I named this page, but after some reconsideration, I think the "Unidentified" here is really unnecessary.

The game only ever refers to this item with non-conjectural lower case terms such as "the relic", "dark relic", etc. Given that there are no other "relics" on the Wiki, would anybody be opposed to shortening the page's title down?

And with regards to wiki policy, would it remain a conjectural title? Or does the item being called "relic" in lower case in-universe make it non-conjectural, even if it's not a proper noun? Castlemore (talk) 17:03, 16 March 2023 (UTC)

I agree with just "Relic". Though when the player discovers the relic, there's also an illustration named "Lost Relic Illustration", but I take it that the word "lost" is for the illustration, not the relic? Anyway, if it's just "Relic", I wouldn't consider it conjectural. MalchonC (talk) 17:26, 16 March 2023 (UTC)
