I know Pottermore speaks about adoption of the Boot brothers, but that's ridiculous. After an adoption they would bear the name of their adoptive parents, either Sayre, when Isolt is the only adoptive parent, or Steward, if Isolt took this name after the marriage and both, she and James, adopted them.
