"No secret, only hard work. At Mahoutokoro, we train every day, even during typhoons."
— Tarobo Amachi[src]

Tarōbō Amachi (天内太郎坊, Amachi Tarōbō) was a Japanese wizard who attended Mahoutokoro during the early 21st century.[3][2]

Biography[]

Tarōbō aspired to be a Quidditch player, so he practised every day during his time at Mahoutokoro. Despite this, he believed that more practice was required if he wanted to join the Japanese National Quidditch team.[2]

At some point in the 2011–2012 school year, Tarōbō visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to represent his school in the Intercontinental Wizard's Cup along with Hanae Katō, Kenji Kobayashi, Yumi Ito, and two other members. During this event, he competed against at least three students from Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Viggo Victor, Zack Johnson, and Violet Williams.[2]

During his stay at Hogwarts, Tarōbō commented on Peeves the Poltergeist's disruptive behaviour, which he didn't like much, with his team. However, he also admitted to them that he favoured the Duelling Club.[3]

Etymology[]

Tarōbō is the name given to the famous Mount Atago tengu. Tarō is also a traditional and old Japanese common masculine name. 天内 is an unusual surname found in northern Japan, mainly in Akita Prefecture. It is thought to have originated from the village of Tennai,[4] or Amadauchi River.[5] '天' means 'sky', and '内' means 'inside', or, assuming that meaning, 'one's own'.
