- "Oh, she got a letter just like that and disappeared off to that — that school — and came home every vacation with her pockets full of frogspawn, turning teacups into rats."
- — Petunia Dursley regarding her sister Lily J. Potter's Hogwarts years[src]
Teacup to Rat[1] (incantation unknown) was a transforming spell that turned teacups into rats.[1][2]
Behind the scenes[]
- Given the number of transfiguration lessons the card that this spell debuts on in the Harry Potter Trading Card Game requires in order for one to learn it (and the context it is mentioned in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) this does not appear to be very advanced magic (probably second or third year level).
- There is another spell which transforms teacups to gerbils.[3] It may even be essentially the same spell, but with a slightly different end result, as both animals are rodents.
