Night (-1)

Dudley: "Not this brave at night, are you?"
Harry: "This is night, Diddykins. That's what we call it when it goes all dark like this."
— Harry teases Dudley.[src]

  • I don't know, the quote is ok, but the whole conversation, the fact that Dudley was hearing Harry say things in his sleep, makes me feel like it was more a dig on Dudley's part then Harry's.--BachLynn(Send an Owl!) 20:57, August 13, 2011 (UTC)
  • It's not interesting with context to me. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:59, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

Rowena Ravenclaw (+2)

"Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure."
— Inscription in Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem[src]

  • I think the quote exemplify why this wiki was created as I have learned a lot from this page - (Btrpr 18:51, July 15, 2010 (UTC))
  • Starstuff (Owl me!) 08:25, August 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • I think it is brilliant! PrincessDaydream77 (talk) 07:22, September 29, 2012 (UTC)
  • Coleon (talk) 12:43, May 10, 2013 (UTC)
  • Arbiter778 (talk) 19:49, March 12, 2015 (UTC)

Peeves' poem (+1)

Peeves: "We did it we bashed them, wee Potter's the one! And Voldy's gone moldy, so let's have some fun!"
Ron: "Really captures the scope and tragedy of the thing, doesn't it?"
— Peeves celebrates the end of the war.[src]

  • After looking throught the archive I noticed this quote is almost identical to the one from week 31 in 2008. There is only a slight difference in formulation and an extra line was added. Does this count as a duplicate? If so this entry should be removed.

Draco's insult (+1)

"Think my name's funny, do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair... and a hand-me-down robe. You must be a Weasley."
— Draco to Ron.[src]

  • I think it's a very characterising statement for Malfoy. ProfessorTofty (talk) 00:59, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

Duel in the Atrium (+1)

Dumbledore: "It was foolish of you to come here tonight, Tom. The Aurors are on their way."
Voldemort: "By which time I shall be gone, and you... shall be dead."
— Albus Dumbledore and Lord Voldemort before their duel in the Ministry of Magic.[src]

Turn on the light (+1)

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times… if one only remembers to turn on the light."
— Albus Dumbledore[src]

  • This is quite poetic, and so true... it also sets the stage for the darker tone of the later films. I like it. --Hunnie Bunn 01:48, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

Divination exam (+1)

"Well honestly... 'the fates have informed her'... Who sets the exam? She does! What an amazing prediction!"
— Hermione Granger criticizes Professor Trelawney[src]

  • Not verry clear out of context if you ask me Coleon (talk) 12:53, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Barking Mad (-1)

"Oooh, Crackpot's feeling cranky. What is it this time, my fine Potty friend? Hearing voices? Seeing visions? Speaking in — tongues? ... Oh, most think he's barking, the potty wee lad / But some are more kindly and think he's just sad / but Peevesy knows better and says that he's mad..."
— Peeves eggs on Harry following his being sent to see McGonagall by Umbridge.[src]

  • It is a tad funny, I'll admit, but it doesn't really seem quite... I don't know, quite right? in my opinion. So sorry, but I'm against. --Hunnie Bunn 01:47, March 12, 2013 (UTC)
  • Seems a bit long. Coleon (talk) 12:53, May 10, 2013 (UTC)

Famous Harry Potter (+1)

"Everyone from the Minister of Magic downward has been trying to keep famous Harry Potter safe from Sirius Black. But famous Harry Potter is a law unto himself. Let the ordinary people worry about his safety! Famous Harry Potter goes where he wants to, with no thought for the consequences."
Severus Snape chews out Harry Potter following Harry's unauthorised visit to Hogsmeade.[src]

"Come on Tom, let's finish this the way we started it... Together!"

The Twins' Secret

George:  It’s a bummer, all right. But if he won’t talk to us in person, we’ll have to send him the letter after all. Or we’ll stuff it into his hand. He can’t avoid us forever

Ron: Who’s avoiding you?

Fred: Wish you would.

Ron: What’s a bummer?

George: Having a nosy git like you for a brother.

The Last Enemy

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death

Albus Dumbledore: "I prefer not to put all my secrets in one basket, particularly not a basket that spends so much time dangling on the arm of Lord Voldemort.

Arbiter778 (talk) 19:47, March 12, 2015 (UTC)

Harry reading the Marauder's Map to Snape: “Mr. Moony presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business.
Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. Moony, and would like to add that Professor Snape is an ugly git.
Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became a professor.
Mr. Wormtail bids Professor Snape good day, and advises him to wash his hair, the slimeball.” Zinedinzidan (talk) 23:37, April 10, 2015 (UTC)

A nomination for a quote for the 1st August (or around that week):

"These are dark times, there is no denying. Our world has, perhaps, faced no greater threat than it does today. But I say this to our citizenry: we, ever your servants, will continue to defend your liberty and repel the forces that seek to take it from you! Your Ministry… remains… strong!"
—Scrimgeour makes a speech on the situation of wizarding world[src]
As it is 2016, it has been 10 years since Rufus Scrimgeour attempted to fight against the Death Eaters, and as a tribute to his protection of Harry Potter, his greatest speech deserves to be quote of the week around the point of his death, (1st August)
