The Thief's Curse is a curse that can be applied to books. Its effect is not fully understood, but it activates if someone tries to read a book for too long without paying for it. This curse is known to be imbued on the Hogwarts Library's copy of Quidditch Through the Ages[1] and on Harry Potter's copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.[2]
