- "Wizengamot elders Griselda Marchbanks and Tiberius Ogden have resigned in protest at the introduction of the post of Inquisitor to Hogwarts"
- — Daily Prophet[src]
Tiberius Ogden was an elder member of the Wizengamot who resigned in protest due to Cornelius Fudge's appointment of Dolores Umbridge as High Inquisitor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the continuing campaign by the Ministry of Magic and the Daily Prophet to discredit Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter.[1]
Tiberius Ogden was the friend who told Professor Tofty, Harry Potter's Defence Against the Dark Arts O.W.L. Examiner, that he could perform a corporeal Patronus.[2]
Etymology[]
The name "Tiberius" is a Roman praenomen, or given name, meaning "of the Tiber" in Latin. The Tiber is the river that runs through Rome. Tiberius was the second Roman emperor, the stepson of emperor Augustus.
Behind the scenes[]
- Tiberius Ogden may have been the same person as Cormac McLaggen's uncle Tiberius, as mentioned by Horace Slughorn in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
- He may have been related to Bob Ogden, who also worked for the Ministry of Magic as the Head of the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol, or the makers of Ogden's Old Firewhiskey.
Appearances[]
