Notes and references[]
- ↑ Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 13 (Nicolas Flamel) - "Mr Flamel, who celebrated his six hundred and sixty-fifth birthday last year, enjoys a quiet life in Devon with his wife, Perenelle (six hundred and fifty-eight)." Note the book being quoted is described to be old in 1992, so he is in fact older.

- ↑ The year was given on J. K. Rowling's official site's Wizard of the Month feature. Regarding his month of birth, Dumbledore is described in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 18 (The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore) as being near his 18th birthday at the time he left Hogwarts. Since his birthday did not fall during the school year (1 September to mid-June), he must have been born in the summer, likely in either July or August, as that chapter specifies he was still seventeen when he befriended Gellert Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 27, set three months after Grindelwald's escape from MACUSA on 30 May 1927, describes him as being 45 years old, meaning his birthday was in late August.
- ↑ In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 18 (The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore) Rita Skeeter says Grindelwald was expelled from Durmstrang at age sixteen, and it was not much time after that that he travelled to Godric's Hollow where he met Albus Dumbledore. This happened in the summer of 1899, immediately after Dumbledore graduated from Hogwarts.
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 101: "INT. KAMA MANSION—1896—NIGHT […] The twelve-year-old KAMA runs after his mother, tugs at her hand, and tries to pull her back upstairs."
- ↑ Lights, Camera, Magic!: The Making of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald refers to Theseus as "Eight years Newt's senior […]" (see here). As Newt was born on 24 February 1897, Theseus could not have been born before February 1888 or after February 1889.
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 101, specifies Leta was born in 1896 ("INT. KAMA MANSION—1896—NIGHT […] LAURENA lies on the bed as IRMA carries a newborn swaddled in a blanket to LESTRANGE SR."). It is also known Leta was in the same year as Newt Scamander at Hogwarts; Newt was born on 24 February 1897, meaning he (and by extension, Leta) was Sorted on 1 September 1908 — if Leta had been born anytime prior to 1 September 1896, she would have been Sorted one year before Newt, in 1907.
- ↑ A photo of a prop from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Newt's denied Ministry of Magic travel permit application, showing his full date of birth, was divulged through the official Fantastic Beasts Twitter account (see this image).
- ↑ The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (see this image)
- ↑ Date calculated from Theseus Scamander's date of birth; the year depends on whether Theseus was born before or after 1 September 1888.

- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 106: "INT. SHIP'S CABIN—1901—NIGHT"
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay, Scene 7 describes Credence and Chastity Barebone as "adults"; the age of majority in the United States of America is 21. She was also was younger than Credence, who was a baby in 1901 according to Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 105

It is the last day of the winter term and nearly everyone is going home"
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 69: "INT. DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS CLASS—FOURTEEN YEARS PREVIOUSLY—DAY". The screenplay further specifies that Newt is aged 16 during this scene, setting it in 1913, sometime after his February birthday.

- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 36
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 3 specifies that the attempted extradition of Grindelwald took place following six months of imprisonment; since Grindelwald was detained following the events of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (film), which took place in December 1926, this would mean that this event took place in around May or June 1927. Even though the exact date is not given in the published screenplay, a The New York Ghost prop from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald announcing Grindelwald's impending extradition (see this image) is dated "Monday, 30 May 1927".
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 17: "EXT. OVERCAST LONDON, WHITEHALL—THREE MONTHS LATER—AFTERNOON". The events have to take place in September instead of late August, since we see Hogwarts classes taking place.
- ↑ Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald - The Original Screenplay, Scene 96
- ↑ 1932 is the date on the issues of the Daily Prophet and Die Silberne Fledermaus that refer to the upcoming election (see this image and this image)

- ↑ The Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet interview Joanne Kathleen Rowling: Part Three
- ↑ Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 6 (The Journey from Platform Nine and Three-Quarters): "Considered by many the greatest wizard of modern times, Dumbledore is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel."
- ↑ Famous Wizard Card
- ↑ Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Chapter 13 (Nicolas Flamel)
- ↑ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 7 (The Will of Albus Dumbledore) - According to Rufus Scrimgeour and Hermione Granger, the Ministry has the right to maintain possession of Dumbledore's bequests for thirty-one days only, in accordance with the Decree for Justifiable Confiscation. Dumbledore's bequests were delivered to Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger and Harry Potter on 31 July 1997: Harry Potter's seventeenth birthday. As it is referred in that chapter that the "thirty-one days are up", Dumbledore died exactly thirty-one days earlier, in the evening of 30 June.
- ↑ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Chapter 22 (The Deathly Hallows): "But not until March did luck favour Ron at last". The action then continues with Harry breaking the Taboo and the skirmish at Malfoy Manor, which takes place at the same time Voldemort is in Austria to question Grindelwald.
- ↑ In the 30 July 2007 Web Chat with J.K. Rowling, she confirms that Luna married Rolf Scamander "rather later" than Harry and Ginny (whose eldest child, James Sirius was born in 2003–2004) or Ron and Hermione (whose eldest child, Rose, was born in 2005–2006).
- ↑ J. K. Rowling: A Year in the Life confirms that Luna's children were born "much later" than those of Harry and his friends; Harry and Ginny's youngest child, Lily Luna, was born in 2007–2008, and Ron and Hermione's, Hugo, was either the same age or even younger. Lorcan and Lysander were certainly born before July 2014, since they are mentioned in Pottermore - DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY REUNITES AT QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP_FINAL (archived)
