Toast is bread that has been toasted. Toast is also a known flavour of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans,[1] and was served at breakfast time at Hogwarts.
History[]
Harry Potter and the Dursleys had toast for breakfast while staying at the hotel where they were trying to hide from the mysterious letters that were addressed to Harry in 1991.[2] They also had toast for breakfast one morning in 1992, and Harry glumly went back to his after what he thought might just be a birthday wish by Vernon Dursley turned out to actually be an announcement regarding his plan to make a deal to sell drills to Mr Mason.[3]
It was also served at the Weasleys', and on one occasion in 1994 when Amos Diggory was speaking to Molly Weasley through the Floo Network, she offered him a piece of toast, using fire tongs to place it in his mouth.[4]
It was also served at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry every year, during the Start-of-Term, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Christmas, Hallowe'en, Yule Ball, Welcoming, and End-of-Term Feasts, floating around between the tables.[5][6][7][8]
Egg on toast was a breakfast dish served at Hogwarts. In 1994, Percy Weasley went to join Penelope Clearwater in a piece of toast in The Great Hall after explaining to Harry Potter that he didn't have ten galleons, although he had bet that much on the outcome of the upcoming Quidditch match.[9]
