Tobbs (d. 1890) was a house-elf who served two masters over the course of his lifetime. He died in Spinners Cavern while serving the second, collecting leech juice for his potions business.[1]
Biography[]
He was a friend of Deek when they shared the same master, but when that master died, Deek was sent to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry while Tobbs was given to a new master. This second master was a particularly cruel man who forced him to spend his life retrieving leech juice in a dangerous cave in the Forbidden Forest for use in potions. Whenever he missed a quota, as in one particular incident where he missed it by three phials, he was starved and forced to punish himself.[1]
He was killed by an Acromantula while collecting juice from this cave, at which point he wrote a letter to his master saying that "Tobbs has failed you and deserves this punishment." Later in the 1890–1891 school year, the unidentified 19th-century Hogwarts student entered the cave and found his corpse.[1]
