Todd Cribb was a wizard who used the alias Prospero, after the character of the same name from the William Shakespeare play The Tempest.

Biography

At some point, he married Corrine Cribb, a Dark witch who was also interested in profiteering from magical creatures. He regarded her as his "dear wife" and feared displeasing her.

1985–1986 school year

During this year, Todd and Corrine Cribb tried to kidnap Fang from Rubeus Hagrid as revenge for Hagrid stopping their poaching activities, however they were unable determine which pets belonged to Hagrid, so kidnapped all pets in the vicinity. The Cribbs did this under an Invisibility Cloak so they wouldn't be followed, but they were able to be followed by the trail of birdseed, tung oil, and Demiguise hair that they left. Jacob's sibling and Merula Snyde confronted the pair and defeated them in a duel, after which they Disapparated to an unknown location.

1989–1990 school year

During the 1989–1990 school year, Cribb travelled to the Forest Lake in the Forbidden Forest, where he provoked a Thunderbird high in the sky with Metelojinx, creating storms which caused its tail feathers to fall. He intended to use the tail feathers to make counterfeit Shikoba Wolfe wands and make a good fortune from them. However, Jacob's sibling and the MACUSA employee Holly Blackbird confronted him at the lake in the midst of him conjuring storms, where he reacted angrily towards them and demanded they refer to him "Prospero" and grovel before them.

He challenged the both of them to a duel, and Jacob's sibling had to face him, as Holly's wand stopped working properly in the presence of Thunderbird tail feathers. Jacob's sibling defeated him, and he attempted to run away, but was stopped by Rubeus Hagrid. Upon interrogation by Jacob's sibling, he revealed his true identity and wife and his intention with the tail feathers. Jacob's sibling also exposed his bag of tail feathers disguised as leaves with Reparifarge, which reverted them to their true form. Afterwards, he was handed over to the authorities.

After being handed over to the British Ministry of Magic by Blackbird, they punished him by making him use his weather magic to water the Ministry's gardens for some time.

After this encounter, he returned to Hogwarts to exact revenge on Jacob's sibling, and to steal the blood from their Salamanders. When he attempted to freeze them, Barnaby Lee and Rubeus Hagrid at the Great Lake during their Salamander bonfire, his spell backfired, leaving him frozen in thick ice, as his broken wand was improperly repaired with Spellotape. It was afterwards their decision to leave him frozen, make him leave, or allow him to join their bonfire.

Physical description

Cribb had long black hair, moustache and goatee, grey eyes and light skin. He wore long blue robes adorned with celestial imagery.

Personality and traits

Cribb seemed to be an arrogant wizard, given how he identified with an alias to make himself seem more fearsome to others, as he thought that his real name was unimpressive. According to Holly Blackbird, Todd was not an inherently bad person, only one who was eager to impress his wife.

• Charms: He was proficient with using Metelojinx to create storms. He could also cast the Freezing Spell.
• Duelling: He engaged Jacob's sibling several times in a duel, but was defeated by the much younger duellist.
• Transfiguration: Cribb disguised his bag of Thunderbird tail feathers as leaves with transfiguration.
