- "Harry had already attempted a few of the Prince’s self-invented spells. There had been a hex that caused toenails to grow alarmingly fast (he had tried this on Crabbe in the corridor, with very entertaining results)"
- — Harry Potter's use of a toenail-growing hex[src]
Toenails are nails that grow on a human's feet.[3]
History[]
Toenails could be used as the human component of the Polyjuice Potion.[2]
At some point in the late 1970s, Severus Snape invented a hex that made toenails grow faster, whilst he was a Slytherin student at Hogwarts.[1][4]
In 1996, after discovering Snape's personal copy of Advanced Potion-Making, Harry Potter learnt about this hex from Snape's book along with other spells, and used it on his enemy Vincent Crabbe in a school corridor, to great success.[1]
