Tomislav Tomić,[1] occasionally credited as Tomislav Tomic, is a Croatia-based illustrator who first entered the world of Harry Potter by illustrating the map of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the 2014 Bloomsbury Children's Edition.[3][4]
Tomić was later commissioned to do interior art for the 2017 updated British Hogwarts Library companion books, published by Bloomsbury Publishing.[5][6][7]
His work was also featured in the Fantastic Beasts, The Wonder of Nature Exhibition, and its book, Fantastic Beasts: The Wonder of Nature.[8][9]
His original work and his contributions towards Wizarding World aside, Tomić's other notable works include illustrations used in the official colouring books of A Game of Thrones and Outlander.[10]

- Tomić hadn't read the Harry Potter books; by the time it came out, he was no longer a teenager and considered the series for kids. He also hadn't watched the films.[11]
- He didn't understand the significance of using "Alohomora" as a password for Wi-Fi access.[12]
- The deadlines for the Hogwarts Library companion books were tight; as Tomić also had a job at a school, he at one point intended to call his agent and give up, but he concluded that one doesn't get an opportunity like this everyday and eventually managed.[13]
- When asked about how much the screen adaptations affected his illustrations,[14] Tomić answered that he tried not to watch the adaptation too much; it wasn't worth being accused of copying if he ended up subconsciously drew inspiration from the works on screen.[15] For A Game of Thrones, Tomić was explicitly asked to create something different from the show, and for Fantastic Beasts, even though he started the job when the film inspired by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was just in preparation and only has limited material, he was still not allowed to use said material as reference due to copyright.[16]
- Tomić had no opportunity to meet or interact with J. K. Rowling; he'd send his works to his agent, who would forward them to the publisher, who would send them to Rowling's agent, who would be the one to show it to her. Feedbacks are recieved in similar manner in reverse, with no direct communication.[17]
