Treacle fudge is a kind of fudge. Rubeus Hagrid usually made this, and according to him, "gets rid o' slugs in a jiffy".[1] Treacle fudge could be bought at Honeydukes Sweetshop, in Hogsmeade.
History[]
During the 1985–1986 school year, Rubeus Hagrid shared one of his treacle fudge recipes with Jacob's sibling.[2]
During Christmas, Rubeus Hagrid had a tradition of baking treacle fudge for all the professors and staff of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, trying to make it festive by adding every Christmas flavour that he could think of. He was under the impression that they loved it. In reality, they didn't, but making it made him so happy that even Severus Snape couldn't bring himself to tell him so.[2]
During the 1992–1993 school year, treacle fudge was given to Ronald Weasley as cure for his backfired Slug-vomiting Charm, originally meant to curse Draco Malfoy for calling Hermione Granger a "Mudblood".[1]
In December 1992, Hagrid gifted Harry Potter a tin of treacle fudge which he melted before eating.[3] In spring when Hagrid was taken to Azkaban, Harry and Ron fed Fang a box of treacle fudge that was on the mantlepiece of Hagrid's Hut.[4]
Ingredients[]
In addition, Rubeus Hagrid had a recipe for treacle which used this list of ingredients:
All these ingredients could be found in Rubeus Hagrid's garden.[1]
Rubeus Hagrid has another[2] recipe with a different set of ingredients:
Behind the scenes[]
- In the first UK editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Chapter 7, the book says Rubeus Hagrid gave Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger a plate of "treacle fudge". However, on the next page it accidentally says that "Hagrid's treacle toffee had cemented his jaws together". Newer editions have since fixed the problem to say that Hagrid gave the group "treacle toffee".
