Treacle toffee is a kind of toffee[2] that Rubeus Hagrid was known to bake.[1]
History[]
They were Ben Copper's favourite sweets.[3]
In September 1992, Hagrid gave Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger a plate of treacle toffee. Harry ate a piece, but it was very difficult to eat and it cemented his jaws together. Hagrid tried to offer Ron a piece again when he stopped throwing up slugs. However, he declined the offer.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- In the first UK editions of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Chapter 7, the book says Hagrid gave the trio a plate of "treacle fudge". However, on the next page it says that "Hagrid's treacle toffee had cemented his jaws together".
- Newer revised editions have since fixed the problem to say that Hagrid gave the group "treacle toffee".
