- "Harry bent down and pulled his wand out of the troll's nose. It was covered in what looked like lumpy grey glue."
- — Description[src]
Troll bogeys were the nasal mucus of a troll. Those of the mountain troll were described as grey and the consistency of lumpy glue.[1]
History[]
During the 1890–1891 school year, the new fifth-year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry collected ingredients such as troll bogeys for use in potion-making.[2]
On 31 October 1991, Hallowe'en, when Harry Potter accidentally stuck his wand up the nose of the troll that Quirinus Quirrell let into the school, it became covered in this substance, something that he and Ronald Weasley reacted to in disgust.[1]
Troll bogeys were also believed, at least by some members of Ravenclaw House, to possibly have certain magical uses.[3] There existed troll bogey flavoured Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans of the colour green.[4]
