This individual became the professor of Defence Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the 1984–1985 school year. However, because of Lord Voldemort's jinx on the post, this individual was "lost" by the end of the year and needed to be replaced. According to Penny Haywood, Severus Snape tried unsuccessfully to get the job.
During a discussion with Penny Haywood, Jacob's sibling mentioned how they felt that they did not learn anything in Defence Against the Dark Arts that year, possibly indicating that the professor was not very good.
