This individual was a German wizard who worked as the warder for the Erkstag prison in 1932.[1]
Biography[]

He was employed at Erkstag by 1932, which was operated by the German Ministry of Magic, and held prisoners. He greeted Newton Scamander in 1932 when he came to retrieve his brother Theseus, who had been wrongfully arrested by corrupt German Ministry Aurors. He confiscated Newt's wand, Pickett, and Teddy, placing them in locked cages for the duration of his visit, and refused to help him locate Theseus, saying Newt would be able to spot his own brother in there. Newt promised his caged animals that he would return to get them once he had found Theseus. This made the warder chuckle, as the prison was labyrinthine and no one ever made it back. If Newt returned, he muttered sardonically, he himself might as well be made Minister for Magic.[1]

After the warder fell asleep at his desk, Pickett picked the lock of his cage and set both himself and Teddy free. The Niffler pulled on the warder's tie (which he had taken from Theseus), while Pickett took Newt's wand. However, Teddy's tugging on Theseus' tie, though he managed to retrieve it successfully, also managed to wake the warder up, thus alerting him of their escape. While Newt and Theseus were escaping the Manticore, the warder took a lantern with him to pursue Teddy and Pickett, but failed, and he stood and watched them disappear via Portkey. His lantern went out afterwards, possibly meaning the Manticore may have killed him.[1]
