Biography[]
During one of her Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, which she described as 'boring', she discovered a helmet that was being stored in Classroom 3C. Unaware that it was a Dark artefact, she put the helm on and realised that it was powerful. She checked the classroom's records and realised that it was listed as a dark artefact, but noticed that no-one seemed to be aware of its true power. She snuck into the Restricted Section in order to read a book which explained the helmet's power. She then had the idea to set up a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson that 'was anything but boring'. She used the power of the helmet to break into Classroom 3C and stole a number of cursed artefacts: a cursed sword, a cursed mask, a cursed potion bottle, a cursed skull, and the Iron Maiden of Doom. She then reactivated the dormant curses placed on the objects and scattered them throughout the school.[2]
When she took the helm off, she realised how dangerous her plan was and started trying to recover the artefacts, keeping the helm close in case she needed its power. Meanwhile, The Hogwarts Diary had alerted its keeper, Jacob's sibling, to the danger and prompted them to investigate. Jacob's sibling and Ben Copper discovered the blackboard in the Artefact Room where the student had planned the entire thing and took notes on how to break the curses. They then went around the school and recovered the artefacts. At the same time, Professor Severus Snape had discovered that the artefacts were missing and hoped that, by recovering them, he could prove to Albus Dumbledore (who at that point was away from Hogwarts on business) that he deserved to be the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. To this end, he brought an expensive Dark Detector, but grew frustrated when Jacob's sibling consistently found the cursed artefacts before he did.[2]
The girl falling out of the Iron Maiden of Doom that she had been trapped in.
The student later found herself trapped in the Iron Maiden of Doom when she underestimated the curse that was placed on the object. She had to be rescued by Jacob's sibling, and accidentally revealed herself when she told them exactly where the release button on the iron maiden was. She had dropped the helm on the ground when she was trapped, and, as she went to pick it up, Jacob's sibling noticed that it bore the same insignia as the cursed sword. Later, when Jacob's sibling was trying to help Merula Snyde, who was being chased by a black Bat-Bogey, the girl revealed how to stop the curse and also that the bottle was cursed with a variation of the Bat-Bogey Hex. However, she ran off before Jacob's sibling could question her further.[2]
When all the artefacts were returned to Classroom 3C, she was confronted by Dumbledore and Snape. However, she attempted to shift the blame by accusing Snape of orchestrating the whole thing in an attempt to become Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. When Jacob's sibling turned up and revealed that the helm affected the mind of the wearer, she confessed. Snape considered the incident worthy of expulsion, however Dumbledore, taking into account the personality-altering effects of the helm, instead gave her detention for the rest of the year. A furious Snape then stormed out of the classroom, angrily bequeathing his Dark Detector to Jacob's sibling, as it hadn't helped him at all in finding the artefacts.[2]
