- "Jacob remained writhing in pain on the ground until Santos raised her wand and lifted the Cruciatus Curse afflicting him. Relieved, Jacob lay back in Queenie's arms."
- — Vicência Santos lifting the Cruciatus Curse[src]
This unnamed spell (incantation unknown) was used by Vicência Santos in 1932 to lift the Cruciatus Curse from Jacob Kowalski at the Eyrie that had been cast on him prior by Gellert Grindelwald.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- The Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitude Test on J. K. Rowling's official site had previously stated that no spell could defend against the Cruciatus Curse once cast.[3] The fact that Santos is able to lift the curse in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore with a spell is extremely canonically questionable and most likely a retcon.
