Upper Hogsfield was a hamlet located in the countryside north of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland. It was the closest hamlet to the village of Hogsmeade and in homage to the nearby village, the residents chose the name 'Hogsfield'. However, about the same time, the villagers of Lower Hogsfield also choose the name 'Hogsfield', after the school that taught them all. An unhappy compromise was reached by applying the 'Upper' and 'Lower' qualifiers to their names.[1]
