Urgruff's Golden Egg[2] was a solid gold replica of a dragon egg, that was crafted by the respected goblin goldsmith Urgruff the Unwary.[1]
History[]
Urgruff the Unwary was able to create a perfect replica of a dragon egg in solid gold, sometime before 1990. However after crafting it, a mother dragon mistook the gold egg for one her own, torched his workshop, retrieved the egg from the ashes of the smithy, and took off with it.[1]
At some point during the 1989–1990 school year at Hogwarts, Gringotts Wizarding Bank received intelligence suggesting this dragon had been captured and confined to a famous Dragon Sanctuary in Romania. The bank tasked one of their Curse-Breakers, Bill Weasley, with retrieving it, having even obtained a portkey to send him on his way. The egg was successfully retrieved, and sent to Gringotts for safekeeping.[1]
