Your comment on Harry Granger's talk page

Our Canon policy states that the books are higher level canon than the films. It also states that when the films contradict the books we go with the books. Therefore, by our policies, Bellatrix escaping the Ministry by Floo Powder in the movie is NOT considered canon because according to the book she escaped with Voldemort. -Shorty1982 16:06, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Bellatrix's escape

Hi, Nymphdora! I know that there is a great problem between the book readers and the people who only know the films or love the films more, but this Wiki prefers the books over the films, so you only can tell this in a "Behind the scenes" section, but not in the article. Read this, then you can understand why I reverted your edits.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 17:09, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

If anyone who is nice enough out there, could you please tell me how i can edit my profile, like putting my biographical information, userboxs, and anything else and more pictures. Thanks,im only new on this thats why im askin, thanks again.

First tip, look at articles and other people's userpages in edit mode and see how they did things. That's how I learned to do a lot of things. Mine contains most everything you're wanting to do.
User Boxes are easy, go to the Userbox page, find one you want, and simply copy and paste the code. For instance, to use the "User supports Gryffindor" userbox you would put User gryffindor on your userpage.
For infoboxes, find an infobox you like in an article and click the "Source" link at the very bottom of the box. This goes to that infobox's template page where you will find a "clean" version of it. Copy and paste it to your userpage and fill in the information you want.
I can't really explain how to upload images to the wiki as I haven't done many myself but I can tell you how to add images to a page. is the basic code for an image. For instance, to add the image used in the Defence Against the Dark Arts infobox (just a random article I had open) you would put . To make a large image a clickable thumbnail simply add "|thumb|" after the name,
I also recommend looking through our policies. Hope this helps. -Shorty1982 23:05, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, if you have any questions feel free to ask me on my talk page and I'll do my best to answer them. -Shorty1982 23:10, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
When you are adding a comment to another user's talk page on a new subject it is standard to start a new section so users have an easier time keeping track of subjects. Also, please always sign talk page entries using 4 tildes (~~~~). -Shorty1982 00:33, November 24, 2011 (UTC)
Did you use four tildes or the signature button (if using visual mode) to sign your latest entry to my talk page? I ask because normally when one signs that way their name is clickable so one can easily go to their talk page to reply. -Shorty1982 00:48, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

User Renaming

When you creating a new account, you should redirect the old pages to the new one, rather than changing the name of the old one to a page in the mainspace. I've gone ahead and fixed everything up and I've also restored the comments from the talk page of the original username. ProfessorTofty 07:05, November 24, 2011 (UTC)

Your Userbox edits

Warning: Please stop. If you continue to vandalise pages, you will be blocked from editing the Harry Potter Wiki. -- 1337star (talk) 00:37, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

To put userboxes on your userpage, just put the exact name of the userbox on your page where you want it to go in curly braces. You do not need to edit the userbox itself. For instance, if you wanted to put

180px-Philosopher stone cover UK child This user's favourite book is Philosopher's Stone.

on your userpage, just put User Book1a somewhere on your page. See Harry Potter Wiki:Userboxes for more information. If you need more help, just ask. -- 1337star (talk) 01:31, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

Template talk:Slytherin individual infobox

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I saw your plead on this site. What do you want to do? Put it on your user page? When that's the case, click by "Template:Slytherin individual infobox" on edit, copy the content and paste it on your user page. Then you can edit it. I hope that helps, if not, feel free to ask.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 17:22, November 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! Sorry that I answer so late, but I saw your edit only now. I saw on your infobox that you have three straight lines before the word image. There may only be one or the infobox crashes and put it under the title "Template:Slytherin individual infobox". Before your name you must write: |name=, otherwise it will not work. You can write this under the image, there it stands normally. I hope this helps. I have computer problems, so I now write from another computer, but I cannot always use this computer, so it can happen that a longer time passes before I see the requests, but I hope that it now works.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 17:44, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Your post on my talk page

To start with a fresh infobox click the "source" link at the bottom of the box, copy the contents of the "Clean template" box and replace the existing infobox on your page with that.

To add an image simply put on the "image" line of the infobox, replacing "file name" with the name of the file and "size" with the desired size in px (usually around 250px)

The "black boxes" are bullet points, used as part of a list. To create a list simply put an asterisk (*) in front of each item in the list.

*Name 1
*Name 2
*Name 3

gives you:

 • Name 1
 • Name 2
 • Name 3

To create numbered lists simply replace the asterisk with the pound sign (#)

I'll again recommend checking pages that already have the type of thing on them and checking their code to see how to do it (you will naturally have to be in code view to see that, which is the view I recommend to use anyway as it allows you more control over your edits). I also recommend reading through our help section (mouse over your username in the upper right corner and click "Help" in the drop down box). Most of your questions will most likely be answered there, if you're still confused feel free to ask me for help. -Shorty1982 20:48, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! When you want to use the image that is now on your user page - File:BELLATRIX LESTRANGE(31).jpg -, you only must put this file name into these brackets and fill in. For example:
|name= File:BELLATRIX LESTRANGE(31).jpg without the ":", which you can see in the edit mode. Then it is in the infobox.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 08:19, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I deleted your image on your user page as you wished. Good luck with your infobox!  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 08:21, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I don't understand your message. Have I understood you wrong when I thought you wanted me to delete the image? When yes, then I apologize. Shall I put it back?  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 08:36, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I read your message again and then I understood, what I had misunderstood before, so I put the picture back to your userpage. Sorry for the inconvenience.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 14:44, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I can't find a user page of Bellatrix Lestrange. I think you mean the article Bellatrix Lestrange. Normally when you are on your user page - User:Bellatrix nee Black - an image that you want to put there must only go on this site and not also in an article. That's strange.
But I have another request. Don't type your user name, use instead 4 ~, then your name and a time stamp is automatically created from the system which allows other users to click on your name and got redirected automatically to your user page or talk page. That's much easier. Thank you.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 08:23, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Bellatrix nee black! I just saw that someone had left a message on my talk page and deleted it again because of the signature. My history says that it must have been you. You can sign with: 4 ~ like ~~~~. I hope that helps.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 12:00, December 2, 2011 (UTC)

It depends on what sort of quote you want. If you want just a straight quote, then it's

Quoted material.

If that doesn't quite make sense, then here's an example:

"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid, fat rat yellow."
—Ronald Weasley attempts to use a bogus charm.[src]

Now, if you want dialogue, that's a bit more complicated; there's a whole bunch of different templates for the number of speakers involved, whether anyone speaks twice, etc. They can be found here, and using them is pretty much like the example above, just with more fields to fill.

Also, a great way to find out how to do things is to look at the source of a page that has something you want to do and try to copy it. That way you don't have to ask all the time (not that I mind). -- 1337star (talk) 21:33, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

Customized Signature

Hmm. Seeing as I haven't customized my own signature, I'm not sure if I'm really the best choice to ask about it. Still, I'm certainly willing to give a shot at it. I think the first step in customizing your signature would be to ask what sort of signature exactly you're looking for. Were you thinking of something like Cubs Fan or Seth Coopers' signatures, adding in a bit of coloring and such? Or perhaps something a bit more complex like what Tom Marvolo Octopus has done with his signature? Just let me know, and I'll get you set up. ProfessorTofty 22:50, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

To make the simplest signature simply type four tildes (~). Wiki turns that into your username (linked) followed by the time and date. No reason to type out your name or anything. -Shorty1982 23:44, December 3, 2011 (UTC)

Exactly. Doing that should be enough to give you a signature that looks like mine or Shorty's - Wikia sets that up automatically when you create the account. If for some reason it's still not showing up even when you do that, just let me know. ProfessorTofty 00:47, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
That's weird, hopefully ProfessorTofty will be able to help as I have no clue why it isn't linking your name like it should. -Shorty1982 01:16, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I did some poking around in my settings to see if I could figure out what's happening with your signature. Go to "My Preferences" (mouseover your name in the upper right, it's in the drop down menu), on the "My info" tap scroll down to the "Signature" section. Where it says "Preview of existing signature:" is your name clickable? If not try adding Bellatrix nee black to the "Signature" blank and checking the check box below it. Hopefully that'll fix it. -Shorty1982 01:22, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, that should do the job. I can't understand why it would been changed so that it's not linking like ours if you had never done anything with it before, as normally it makes it into a link by default. But what Shorty said should take care of the problem. Alternatively, if you just want a signature like ours, then in the preferences part that he was talking about, there's a checkbox that says "Custom signature." If you that checkbox is checked, then change it so that it's unchecked, actually, and then theoretically it should revert to the default, with the linking. ProfessorTofty 01:44, December 4, 2011 (UTC)
Glad I could be of assistance! -Shorty1982 03:03, December 4, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Plot to Assassinate Albus Dumbledore

That's something to post to the article's talk page, not mine. I can't recall right now when Ron drank the mead off hand. -Shorty1982 11:38, December 5, 2011 (UTC)
