Mother Shipton

Hello there, I was wondering wherabouts did you find information on a hag called "Mother Shipton"? I am unaware of the source you mentioned it in its article, and I am just checking to make sure it isn't fandom. Kind regards, RedWizard98 (talk) 13:23, June 27, 2019 (UTC)

Duplicated article

Hello, the article you recently created is a duplicate of an existing article (Mafalda), meaning I have had to place it in the deletion pile. This cut character's name is also unconfirmed, so we cannot assume we know it. Try to avoid creating articles for subjects that already exist, and furthermore, the article itself was not written from an in-universe perspective, so make sure any future articles you create do conform to this style of writing. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 16:31, May 19, 2020 (UTC)

Well, Prewett would be Mafalda’s surname, since she is part of Molly Weasley’s side of the family and I don’t know how to change article names. Unless YOU know how to. Beverlyjones (talk) 16:35, May 19, 2020 (UTC)

But there is no actual canon proof for her surname being Prewett, so we cannot assume that we know this cut character's surname, because we do not. --RedWizard98 (talk) 19:25, May 19, 2020 (UTC)

Images

Hi there, I'd recommend providing a source for images that you upload, as it shows where it comes from and that it is official, along with all other summary information. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 18:54, June 28, 2020 (UTC)

Hey there. are the Rose family an actual wizarding family from a Harry Potter universe-related source? If so, please could you state the source? -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  10:37, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

There isn’t any source. It was based on a dream I had last night about Rapunzel learning to fight a Boggart.

Fanon warning: If you continue to add fanon to pages, you will be blocked from editing the Harry Potter Wiki. Your contributions may be more welcome at the Harry Potter Fanon Wiki or at the Dumbledore's Army Roleplay Wiki. -  MrSiriusBlack  Talk  15:18, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

I had to delete it. Please remember that all of our articles must be based on canonical information in accordance with our canon polocy.--Rodolphus (talk) 15:21, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

If you are struggling with the concept of what "canon" is, I would really recommend reading our official canon guide (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Harry_Potter_Wiki:Canon) which fully explains what is considered canon, and what is not. I hope this helps --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:08, July 6, 2020 (UTC)--RedWizard98 (talk) 17:08, July 6, 2020 (UTC)

Article layout

When you create articles, you are expected to give them full layouts, which should always include an appearances section and a notes and references section, which also requires the adding of references to articles when you create them. All canon articles require basic references and not providing them means the article in question is below standard. --RedWizard98 (talk) 20:22, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

Unless RedWizard98 you can point out where in the Harry Potter Wiki:Policy where it shows the minimum content or standard needed for a new article, articles have been, and still can be, stubbed in with minimal information so others can expand on them as needed. Just mark them as a {{stub}} so they are added to the list of articles that are known to need more information. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 21:06, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

All articles are expected to contain both appearances and references; I was not talking about the article length.--RedWizard98 (talk) 21:12, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

So if an article needs Appearances, then please mark it with a {{Verify}} tag which states the requirements, timeframe involved, and the consequences if the article isn't improved. For this particular article, we all know there are Appearances that can be added, so it's really just a question of whether or not to copy some of the content from Time-Turner over into the article for this particular time-turner. There is no policy that applies to this question - it's just a matter of what people prefer and who is willing to do the work for either outcome.
As for {{References}}, they are welcome and supported to help improve the quality of the article, but are not required. See the References notice for clarification on this. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 21:25, July 20, 2020 (UTC)

Bashful the Dwarf?

Why did you write that Bashful the Dwarf is a resident of the Dungeons? I don't know if that was some kind of joke or mistake but that character does not exist in the HP universe so writing something like that is not acceptable on this wiki. Furthermore, you must always provide references to articles when you make them, something which you are not doing. Furthermore, you must always write using the past tense in canon articles, not the present, and info-boxes must always go at the very top of articles, not down the bottom. Images also need full summary information providing too, which should include a full information template in its image file. Thank you --RedWizard98 (talk) 18:40, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

It’s part of my head canon. I’m quite like Luna Lovegood, in that I think certain things that others consider to be ridiculous. Beverlyjones (talk) 18:45, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

Mr Sirius Black has informed you about this in the past; that is called "fanon", which is not canonical in any way, which is unacceptable editing behaviour. If you want to invent your own material please use the HP Fanon Wiki or DA Roleplay Wiki for this, but this wiki is only for canonical information, not for random stuff that you imagine. Fanon is not funny or welcome here I'm afraid, and writing it can result in consequences. Sorry to sound so harsh, but please do not write nonsensical facts on this wiki. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 18:50, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

Editorial style

I hate to sound uptight, but can you please not write with a blatantly out of universe style, and please actually use sources for what you write. Is the new character article you created even based on a real character? Because not providing any sources makes it look very unofficial. --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:57, September 12, 2020 (UTC)

Well, Daniel Larner played an Unidentified Gryffindor student in the Goblet of Fire film and he voiced Harry Potter in the respective video game, so it only makes sense that his film character has the same first name. Beverlyjones (talk) 18:06, September 12, 2020 (UTC)

No it does not. If he did portray an unidentified student in the fourth film (but I cannot find any IMDB information for this, nor anything off the actor's own website), this character's name could be anything, and if this character is unidentified, he therefore has no given name. Assuming you know his supposed name is basically speculation and/or fanon. Our wiki has very strict rules against fanon and writing speculative/unproven content, so please provide actual references to prove what you write.--RedWizard98 (talk) 18:10, September 12, 2020 (UTC)

Editorial style

Please take good heed of this guideline - it is very easy to understand and all users have to abide by it (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Harry_Potter_Wiki:Policy#Style). The way you are writing articles is not acceptable, as you are writing them with such an out of universe approach, which is against policy here. Please do not ignore our concerns and change the way you write articles. Thank you --RedWizard98 (talk) 17:58, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

The page IS in-universe. It’s talking about the cauldrons used in the PS1 games to brew Wiggenweld Potions. How is that NOT in-universe. I don’t understand. Beverlyjones (talk) 18:38, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

You do not understand what I mean. "In-universe" means you write from the perspective that the wizarding world is real, and therefore things, people, places within it also exist. This means you do not add any references to outside references in articles. You should not write "The Wiggenweld exists in the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (video game)", and instead you would write "The Wiggenweld Potion is a potion which heals the target". Only under "behind the scenes" sections can you include references to outside material, and you must also always add appearances and references sections, which you are failing to do. If you read the link in fulll above, it will make everything very clear, I hope. --RedWizard98 (talk) 19:31, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

I understand now. Beverlyjones (talk) 19:45, September 16, 2020 (UTC)

That is okay. If you need anything answering, please do not hesitate to ask me or another editor. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 20:18, September 19, 2020 (UTC)

Fanon

Me and many other users have told you very clearly in the past, that this wiki is not an acceptable place to publish fanon. Judging by your recent article, you have chosen to utterly ignore this wiki's policies, and as a result, I have had unfortunately had to report you to administration for uploading fanon. I have also requested that your recent piece be deleted, as it does not belong here. Please use the HP Fanon Wiki or the DA Roleplay Wiki instead for fan-fiction, not here.RedWizard98 (talk) 21:03, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

I chose to do those articles because of this: https://skyanddie.tumblr.com/post/173437957233/hey-why-are-rumpelstiltskin-shrek-forever Beverlyjones (talk) 21:20, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

You are not surely being serious with that link? That link is nonsensical HM satire. It is not a verified canon source. Meaning, it is not an acceptable source of information to use. You have not demonstrated that you understand the rules of this wiki, and would be much better off using either of the two established HP fanon wikis listed above, or simply create your own wiki, as me and others have said before.RedWizard98 (talk) 21:23, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

Are you kidding right now? Please take a look at Harry Potter Wiki:Canon policy for more information. StarLightNova 21:42, 8 November 2020 (UTC)

I'd also advise you to take another look at the canon policy. To qualify as canon, the information needs to come from the video game itself or those involved in making it. If this happens again, you may be blocked for a period of time. You have been warned and informed of our policies before. Rodolphus (talk) 07:42, 9 November 2020 (UTC)

I needed to block you for one day. You have been informed about our canon policy in the past, but continued to add fanon articles (Ebony Black) Please take the time to read or canon policy. Thank you.Rodolphus (talk) 17:29, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

User Images

Hello, because you have already uploaded three user images to your own user pages/blogs, any further ones you upload will have to be deleted from now on, as this wiki as only allows a maximum of three user images for each user. This policy is explained here (https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Harry_Potter_Wiki:User_Policy#User_image_policy). I hope this helps. RedWizard98 (talk) 01:41, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
