I don't think it's a good idea to flood the wiki with so many GIFs. They slow down the load time of pages... Particular the longer articles, and they're highly distracting when trying to read. Please consider using more still images and fewer GIFs. Thanks.--[[User:Pjayswitch|Pjayswitch]] ([[User talk:Pjayswitch|talk]]) 13:00, August 21, 2019 (UTC)

Image uploads

Thank you for contributing image uploads to the Harry Potter Wiki. However, your recent upload was in breach of our image policy, and has since been corrected. In future, please be sure to fill out the information template that is provided on the upload page, in particular citing the source from which the image comes, and adding categories. This is to help keep images organised and catalogued, and to provide clear sourcing for all uploads. Please be aware that images missing this information may be subject to deletion, and, in certain cases, uploading more images that lack this information after being asked to provide the correct information may lead to a block for the uploader. If you have any doubts or questions regarding this, please contact one of the administrators. Thank you for your co-operation.--Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest.jpg(Wizarding Wireless Network) 10:27, May 3, 2011 (UTC)

Please read and comply with the above message. Failure to properly source and license images may lead to administrative action. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest.jpg(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:44, May 4, 2011 (UTC)
Please digest the above, and start filling out {{Information}} accordingly and place them on the files you yourself uploaded. Also, I really, sincerely, suggest you to check out Forum:Treatment for similar images; HPW is currently plaguing from duplicated and similar images, I know for a fact that one, if not more, of your recent uploads already has a similar copy somewhere here. So, please at least view this thread and refrain from uploading any GIFs that are already on HPW. Thanks!

Thank you for contributing image uploads to the Harry Potter Wiki. However, your recent upload file:Bellatrix kills Sirius.gif is in breach of our image policy, and needs to be corrected by applying the {{information}} template to the file and supplying a source for the image. In future, please be sure to fill out the information template that is provided on the upload page, in particular citing the source from which the image comes from, and adding categories. This is to help keep images organised and catalogued, and to provide clear sourcing for all uploads. Please be aware that images missing this information may be subject to deletion, and, in certain cases, uploading images after being asked to provide the correct information may lead to a block for the uploader. If you have any doubts or questions regarding this, please contact one of the administrators. Thank you for your cooperation.
↑ Yeah, no kidding dude, please read all the message you received before you upload any more GIFs, please do not upload something so similar (as in file:Avada Kedavra Bellatrix.gif and file:Bellatrix kills Sirius.gif), yes they are different but there's no need for two separate GIFs when one is enough, with the fact that this scene already has a GIF somewhere on HPW. Please hold your thestrals, thanks. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 22:12, February 7, 2019 (UTC)

What proof do you have that states that Laurena Kama and Yusuf Kama are in fact mother and son? You can't just say they're mother and son without any proof that they are. You added a reference to that statement, but that website/page/article does not confirm it. You also included the image of the Lestrange family tree, but it also isn't on there unless its in the small print which is too small to read from that image. IlvermornyWizard (talk) 14:43, October 15, 2018 (UTC) IlvermornyWizard

Lestrange family member pages

When creating the Lestrange family member pages, you don't just add the beginning sentence saying they're a wizard/witch and related to other family members such as husband/wife of this family member, you have to include the Individual infobox with ALL the necessary information in the appropriate section not just inserting it and leaving it completely blank, Appearances section, References /Notes reference section with the Reflist template (not the other way you did it in a previous edit), and the categories as well. Can you add all that to the pages you created? IlvermornyWizard (talk) 22:11, November 21, 2018 (UTC) IlvermornyWizard

No more screenshots

Please don't create and upload any more Crimes of Grindelwald screenshots. They are of poor quality and the screenshots should be of high quality, even if the screenshot is only temporary. IlvermornyWizard (talk) 04:18, December 22, 2018 (UTC) IlvermornyWizard

Image Descriptions

As has been mentioned before, please go back and add {{Information}} to the images you have uploaded and add the needed information, starting with Dementors_black_lake.gif. If you upload any other images without adding this information, you will be blocked from this wiki for some time. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:28, February 9, 2019 (UTC)

You still haven't updated your previous images and are adding more without the required information. You will continued to be blocked for such behavior, and ultimately may be banned. --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:29, February 24, 2019 (UTC)

How can I add information to this gif about Dementors since I been blocked? I forgot to add this informations because I waited 2 weeks especially to add new gifs from Crimes of Grindelwald, I spent a lot of time making it. That was more important for me. I don't want to be banned because I have been on this wiki for so many years. And are you joking, banned for one month... I added new gifs in which I added information and you blocked my anyway, it's sick. Unlock me and I add this informations or do it for me. I ADD INFORMATIONS TO NEW GIFS, BUT I CAN'T EDIT THIS BECAUSE YOU BLOCKED ME Dementors_black_lake.gif —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs) February 24, 2019‎.

When your recent block expired, you choose to continue to upload more files without the required information and added to the problem, instead of cleaning up the past uploads as requested. As such your block had to be extended as you are choosing to continue to create more messes that everyone else has to deal with. Ultimately, all your hard work on these gifs will be deleted if you do not bother to add the required information to all of your uploaded files, not just one or two. Please take this seriously and correct your uploads when your current block expires. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:55, February 24, 2019 (UTC)

So what is this required information? Licensing? So gifs from Crimes of Grindelwald are made by me on giphy.com. I used videos of CoG film splitted in parts on youtube in HD. I just want to know if this is the only information required for these posts, because I do not want to be banned. I want to know is it licensing or it's about something more I don't know.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs) February 24, 2019‎.

Lol, I want to edit this but when I opened the editor it was white empty space. I don't know what is this "required information". When I ask you, you even not read what I wrote to you. But you want to ban me. No comment :) I want to upload next gifs, tell me what information I must add to old files.
—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs) March 24, 2019‎‎.
"When I ask you, you even not read what I wrote to you." ← That could be said about you, too, ironically. What you needed to do has been repeatedly told to you and you have not shown signs of having read it until you got blocked. Licensing and sourcing are important, yes, but have you read Harry Potter Wiki:Image policy as you've been told since 2011 in #Image uploads? Your answers are there, and we shouldn't have to copy and paste the entire thing to you when you were already directed there to read it yourself. Correctly categorizing the images is also very important as it'd make locating said images easier.
Your editing on File:LetaStupefy.gif is appreciated, but take that image for example, hope you can learn from it to grasp what you are expected to do in the feature with this update.
Looking forward to seeing non-duplicated GIFs that are accompanied with required information and categories by you. =] --Sammm✦✧(talk) 19:01, March 24, 2019 (UTC)

Maybe you're right. I don't read that in 2011. So when I add licensing in other old gifs all will be ok and I could add new gifs?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs) March 24, 2019‎‎.

Not exactly, please read word-to-word of what I just wrote. Yes, licensing is a must, but please also categorize your uploads. Even if you didn't read it back in 2011, I've since repeatedly asked you to check the policy in February 2019, so please, read it and follow it, and follow the the example I gave you; if your GIF featured Newton Scamander, then PLEASE add Category:Images of Newton Scamander etc. If the GIF is about a spell, then PLEASE add Category:Images of spells. If your GIF is from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, then PLEASE add Category:Images from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald! Those are just the ones that are the subject matter you seemed to recently upload. Please categorize accordingly and not just the examples I listed. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 19:33, March 24, 2019 (UTC)
Hey there, Harry91! I just want to let you know that your effort is definitely seen and appreciated! You are mostly doing great, however, please view what's actually on the page before editing; some of your edits were on files that have already been fixed so those are ones you actually could just skip. The ones you definitely need to work on, are ones that are either completely blanked, or with {{No license from license selector}} placed; if it has the latter, the template should also be removed when you edit it, since you will then be providing the missing license. And if GIFs are correctly categorized under GIF categories, please do not incorrectly change them to image categories. Those films have 500+ images, so filtering out is for convenience. There's not that many images in general for COG at the moment, but if it starts to accumulate, eventually it'd have a GIF category as well. Thanks for the work so far! =D --Sammm✦✧(talk) 22:20, March 24, 2019 (UTC)

Image categories

Hi there, Harry91! Again, I just want to let you know that your efforts in taking care of your uploads are noted and appreciated! However, I've noticed a few recurring mistakes, addressing them here so hopefully they could be avoided in the future.

Thank you for your edits! --Sammm✦✧(talk) 21:43, March 25, 2019 (UTC)

Can you please read the above and actually show signs of having read it? Because right now you sure aren't acting like it and I'm very close to say something rude but fitting.
--Sammm✦✧(talk) 21:18, April 13, 2019 (UTC)
I read it today. BIG SORRY FOR ALL THAT MESS. I already know what to avoid in the future. Now I know
what I did wrong and to which category I should throw gifs or photos, and what informations should be included.
 Harry91 (talk) 21:28, April 14, 2019 (UTC)Harry91 (talk) 21:29, April 14, 2019 (UTC)

Sup? To cut the chase, please once again review everything in #Image uploads, also, you've literally just uploaded a bunch of duplicates. You've edited on the Boggart article before, so there's absolutely no excuse for not seeing those existing images. You feel like you have a better version? You've replaced your own uploads before, and you can do the same to other people's uploads as well. Currently you only created more works for other people to take care of, so please, just don't do it in the future.

This message may seem harsh, but there's just no real other way to tell you what needed to be said. You've been doing so well after your block was lifted, so please, don't fall back to old habits. Also heads up, half of your uploads will be merged and not be the revision in use, because half of the time, what's already on HPW is relatively of better quality.

This message is also to give you a heads up; if you continue to disregard existing images and insisting on uploading variants separately, you likely will be blocked again. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 12:24, April 2, 2019 (UTC)

Which duplicates? I made this gifs from ULTRA HD. When it comes to #Image uploads, I will fill in the details in a moment, because I usually upload some files, and after that I complete the details. But I don't know why everything about the Boggarts has been reverted back. In my opinion my gifs are much better than old versions and I was just to fill details in this uploads
—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs) 12:44, April 2, 2019 (UTC).
How you got your uploads, whether you made it from scratch with a bunch of screenshots, or used some website to generate, or simply uploading from what you've found uploaded onto the web, is irrelevant. If there's already something depicting the exact same thing, the extra one is a duplicate. As I said, if you think yours is better, then you should be replacing existing ones, not uploading them separately.
For HermionePetrificusTotalus.gif (file:HermionePetrificusTotalus.gif), you should have gone to PetrificusTotalus PS.gif (File:PetrificusTotalus PS.gif) and replace it. And for the record, while yours is larger in size, it is not more visible, so you can count it to not be the one used after the merge. What you did, is effectively creating more mess for people with User Rights to clean up after you. Please stop.
Your Boggart edit was reverted because you failed to follow instruction; book canon trumps film canon, and you've added what's already listed in BTS, as they rightfully should be placed in, in a section it does not belong. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 14:46, April 2, 2019 (UTC)
About duplicates I read today, I don't know that loading my screenshots will be problem, because I saw that there are many duplicates of some files, and people who uploaded it they were not warned, so I didn't know that adding same gifs will be a problem. And I think my file is better because it isn't in slow-motion. In turn, the old gif is only better illuminated. But I will remember.

Just doing a quick review, many of the images are lacking the summary info and even those that have a source and description are missing Licensing info (which is very important, particularly from FANDOM's perspective). Please do not add any more images until your backlog has been corrected with the information required by the Harry Potter Wiki:Image policy and the duplicates have been merged by updating the current file with your new version. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 00:59, April 3, 2019 (UTC)

In some images summary will be added because I did not have time lately to sit on it. But on some files when I add summary, later when I look on of files summary has been deleted. Why? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs).

All images need to have their Summary info added at the time of upload - it is clearly not working for you to go back and add this information later given the large number of images you have forgotten to fix. If you do not have time to provide the summary info then do not upload the image. I do not believe any Summary information has been deleted - please provide an example image where you think this happened. --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:13, April 11, 2019 (UTC)

After a monthly block or earlier, I do not remember exactly, I added a few files, and added the summary in them as I need to, and many days later I checked and there was a white blank field as if it had been removed. I corrected it because it was strange to me because I did not want to be blocked again. It looked like someone just deleted it. I'm just saying what I saw. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs).

Sorry, without a specific example there is no way for me to review what may have happened. Please take the time to go back and fix many of your images such as File:RonRiddikulus.gif, File:Harry's boggart.gif, etc, before doing any other uploads or edits. All your images need Description, Source, Categories, and Licensing information. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:28, April 11, 2019 (UTC)

How would you check it if I corrected it, which meant that I had to write anew or just some error and did not saveup, I will not prove it now. I think that with this gifs with Boggarts I add summary, but I can be wrong. Next time I will save on my computer files in which I added a description, then I will have 100% certainty. If it turns out that I did it and disappeared, I will report it immediately :)
And now, I must add summary only for gifs with Boggarts or some more? and Licensing.. what I must wrote if this is an animated gif not screenshot. It's just what interests me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs).

Okay, and in that file [File:COG Newt Appare Vestigium.gif] I add all description, source, categories and "LICENSING" yesterday, after you gave me a list. Today I wanted to check it and when I want to edit this file there is no categories, and in licensing was fair use not screenshot. How? --Harry91 (talk) 10:50, April 14, 2019 (UTC)

Because we waited for quite some time for you to fix your stuff, and you didn't, so I did; as in, a bunch of your selective uploads were already fixed, and somehow, you aren't able to tell the difference when it's fairly obvious. You then wiped out what's been fixed to make some "not so always correct edits", and since I know when I fixed them, they were correct, your edits were reverted back. They are fine and those categories ARE THERE. I'm sure this correspondence is painful for both me and you, so rest assured, from now on you will not hear from me, as I will just report you and let Admins deal with you. (For Admins reading this, I'm aware I'm sounding condescending and patronizing, but please once again review the whole conversation. I don't know how to deal with someone who can't tell the differences between a file namespace page that has obviously already been worked upon, versus what's clearly left untouched.) --Sammm✦✧(talk) 13:56, April 14, 2019 (UTC)

Last chance

Again, you have uploaded images without proper sourcing and started adding them to pages even though you have dozens of images that need their Summary info fixed and completed. As such, I have undid your edit and deleted that upload.

Unless you take the time to properly upload images, and correct your past uploads, I will be going through and deleting them. You've had warnings time and time again and know what is needed to follow the Harry Potter Wiki:Image policy . Please do so. --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:59, April 11, 2019 (UTC)

How about you do what is ask of you before you choose to do some redundant edits? Yes, I AM calling it redundant because the image was already used on the page, and the infobox image used is also fine, yet you were insisting on taking it out and switching to what's otherwise previously visible, completely unnecessary. Just because you aren't doing the uploads this time, doesn't mean your previous obligation miraculously disappeared; if you aren't doing it, your aren't doing it. Not sure why you were given so many chances TBH. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 14:01, April 13, 2019 (UTC)

That was to me or Ironyak1? Because I don't know. Which are redundant edits? In article of Quidditch World Cup Campsite I deleted photo of campsite from Pottermore because there was also a photo of campsite from film. Why do two same pictures, it does not make any sense.. and about many chances given for me, maybe because I'm sharing many informations and gifs on this wiki. About photo of Azkaban I uploaded, I uploaded it because on the old version was half of the Dementor, if I find better version without Dementor, I will upload it. And about this gifs WITHOUT SUMMARY, I added to many of them, maybe not to all, but many. Please, make me a list of my files in which in your opinion do not have required information there and I will correct it. If we can not communicate with each other at least, because I am from Poland and I'm not advanced in English language so much. Trust me, I want a lot of good for this wiki, that's why I make these gifs and correct old ones. With your help we can do a lot together, but do not make it difficult for me at every step. In gifs that I've probably added the same instead of replacing someone else's old files, I added because I saw a few times in search of the gifs that were already thrown, that some of them were repeating themselves. In addition, most of them are in slow motion or small size. That's why I threw the same thing in the new file. Please, help me, not block me, and I also will help you. Please make this list for me, it's important. It was only at the end of 2018 that I started to put in gifs and pictures on this wiki, before I just completed the missing information and there were no problems. By blocking me, you delete the chances of expanding this wiki. You can help me, I can help you, I can help you, you can help me. Please, make me this list and I will correct it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs).

This again is the List of all the files you have uploaded. Please click each one and make sure it has the Summary information with a Description, Source, Licensing, and Category information. If {{Screenshot}} does not apply, then {{Fairuse}} should be used. You have no reason to do any other edits until you have corrected all of your uploads. If they are not fixed, they will be deleted. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:07, April 13, 2019 (UTC)

As for example Vipera_Evanesca.gif .. is now everything ok with this file and should I keep doing the same with the rest? because if I do something wrong, I want to know it now than back to the same thing many times. Thanks in advance! :) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry91 (talkcontribs).

Yes, that file has all the required Summary info. Please also be sure to sign your Talk page messsages with --~~~~. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:19, April 13, 2019 (UTC)

Is there an option that I can delete some files, which I uploaded earlier? I'm sorry for all this mess, I know what to do in the future. But there are some files on this list I prefer to delete it. Harry91 (talk) 21:21, April 14, 2019 (UTC)

You cannot delete them directly, but you remove them from any articles and edit the File summary to add the {{delete}} template and an admin or content moderator will delete them. --Ironyak1 (talk) 21:36, April 14, 2019 (UTC)

To Seth Cooper You blocked me for "Repeated uploading of images without Description information and duplicates, despite several warnings". In this images I add all description and required informations... And again.... which duplicates? And if there is no information somewhere in some very old files that I have marked as candidates for deletion. --Harry91 (talk) 11:29, May 7, 2019 (UTC)

Image question

Hello Harry91, I am pleasantly curious about why you are uploading lots of new image versions of existing images. The only issue is that is whilst they are all good, many of them are labelled as having unknown copyright status, which I'm sure is a harmless error. Also with the Summoning Charm, the new infobox GIF you inserted quite pixelated and slow compared to the previous one, which is crisper and faster, so I think the previous one works better. I have also noticed that you have listed some non-existent categories to the image cats, such as "Images of Firebolt" (the correct cat here would simply be "Images of broomsticks"). Kind regards. RedWizard98 (talk) 00:18, August 18, 2019 (UTC)

Please stop placing GIFs with poor colouring or slow movements into articles, when the previous GIFs are visually superior and faster, as I don't see any need for it. Please could you acknowledge my concerns, thanks. - User:RedWizard98

@RedWizard98 I'm uploading new image versions of existing images, because old versions ale in slow-motion or they have some black stripes on image. Images of Firebolt is my mistake. And my gifs aren't faster, they are in normal speed from Harry Potter films, and they were made by me from UHD. Why do you think old ones are better? This is dirty

I did also notice this GIF you uploaded a new version of Snape killing Dumbledore, is somehow broken as it freezes at its end. Perhaps you could fix it?

@RedWizard98 This is weird, because this gif was playing all the time since I uploaded it, perhaps now something broke down, ehh. Seriously I uploaded it in May on June probably, I don't remember, but this was working perfectly until now.

Snape kills Dumbledore.gif

In terms of your new images, like the one showing Accio, the old one is far superior because it moves much faster, and the image picture quality is superior, as it is clearer and the colours are more crisp. Like with your Relashio GIF, it is really dark and I can barely see it. Only some minor concerns, that's all. Kind regards. User:RedWizard98

@Red Wizard98 GIF with Accio, in my opinion was better, because in old version I had the impression that the GIF was cutting slightly. With Relashio is dark probably because in the Lake was dark. GIF editor doesn't save formats in which they were loaded, so it loses quality like here with Relashio gif, where in film scenery was dark (Second and Third Task of Triwizard Tournament for example). Maybe someone recommends me a program that after uploading files in UHD and cutting it to gif, will not lose quality and still will be in UHD. ANYONE? :)

I have also noticed this GIF of Credence being blasted by Aurors as broken, as it freezes when it ends; it fails to repeat itself.

Credence apparent death.gif

@Red Wizard98 This GIF of Credence since I uploaded it was crashing at the end, probably due to duration time

Copyright issues

Hello Harry91, why are all your new image uploads given unknown copyright statuses? I trust you have given them the relevant source, and I fear they very well may violate image policy guidelines. Kind regards - RedWizard98 (talk) 14:21, August 18, 2019 (UTC)

Please double-check any files you upload - some such as File:Voldemort_kills_Burbage.gif has a typo in the {{fairuse}} template which is why it does not have copyright status. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 02:56, August 20, 2019 (UTC)

I don't think it's a good idea to flood the wiki with so many GIFs. They slow down the load time of pages... Particular the longer articles, and they're highly distracting when trying to read.
