Rollback rights request

I think the whole point of there being a "requests" page is for you to request the rights - in other words, to give a short reason why you think you should be given the rights - and not just for you to list your name there and expect us to change your status just like that. Thanks and see you around - The Chosen One (Choose me!) 13:19, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Percy Weasley

The opening quote is, unfortunately, correct. Ron says Minister of Magic, not Minister for Magic. It can be chalked up to the way Ron talks rather that an accurate decription of the title. I am British, and have the British version that says it. Unless you have a revised British edition where it states Minister for Magic rather than Minister of Magic, it should be left as it is a direct quote. - Cavalier One 10:10, 11 September 2007 (UTC) I looked it up in my copy and your right. Sory. Me_Potter_Fan 10:14, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Not a problem. I had to check it myself! Good work on looking for all the other instances of Minister of Magic and changing them. - Cavalier One 10:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion Requests

If you feel a page should be deleted you can use the {{delete}} template with an option reason, such as: {{delete|This page is fanon.}}. It will then automatically be included in Category:Candidates for deletion and can be discussed by the community there. Thanks! -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 11:34, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Me Potter Fan. It has been determined that you are a trusted member of this community and that we benefit from your contributions. Upon request or through my own description, I have granted you rollback privileges. This tool can be used to quickly revert vandalism and maintain the quality of this wiki. Please remember to use this tool with discretion and never in a content dispute. You should now see a "rollback" link when viewing a user's contributions. Thanks, and happy editing. It's quite easy, just the same as creating a new article. Type the name you want your subpage to have in the search box, and the option to create a page will come up because no such article exists. Click on it and start editing. Remember, subpages must remain in the User namespace, not the main namespace. It should also start with User:Me Potter Fan/ to show that it is your subpage. Alternatively, click this link I made for you - [[User:Me Potter Fan/Subpage]] - and start editing. It's always a good idea to link to it on your main page so you don't forget the name. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 10:44, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

List of Spells

I noticed you cleaning it up - what do you think of taking out the pronounciations? Maybe unecessary? Mafalda Hopkirk 01:15, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok that sounds good! Mafalda Hopkirk 01:39, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Also, i put this on the talk page but i just wanted to mention it because you're doing the article now - The alphabetizing isn't uniform. Should it be by incantation or common name? Mafalda Hopkirk 03:52, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Project Scarhead

OOTP promo front Harry Potter

If they can do it, why not us?

An owl from Cavalier One
The latest on Project Scarhead!
Welcome to Project Scarhead! Okay, firstly, thank you for signing up. We have a big job to do, but hopefully, with so many hands we can get the job done. Basically put, the Harry Potter article is our main article - he's the series lead and the main focus of the books. As such, he should also be our biggest and best article, the kind of article we're proud to show off on the main page and tell people we did it. We will be working on a subpage, located here: User:Cavalier One/Project Scarhead. This will serve as our workplace, and all members of Project Scarhead are authorised to edit it, and I urge you all to put it on your watchlist so you can track usage. I have already rearranged the article to conform with our standard layout guide. I am suggesting tackling the article in chronological order, working through each of the seven books in turn, stopping after each book is done and reviewing the work to date. However, let me know if you wish to work on a particular sections or book and you will be accomodated. Again, welcome to Project Scarhead! Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 10:39, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Please don't resize all those images. Most of the images have a size less than 250px, and making them bigger expands them beyond their pixels, and they become distorted. Also, on smaller articles, a big pictures push down the infobox below the main article.--Matoro183 (Talk) 16:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Organizing Appearances

See Layout guide: Appearances, bullet four "Should be sorted in order of in-universe chronology." Also some over arching change like that should be discussed before hand. If you feel it should be organized by book/film/game you can start a thread in The Wizengamot, or on the layout guide talk page.

We originally decided to do it that way (I discussed it with Cavalier One and Cometstyles on IRC I believe), since it "made the most sense." A bunch of articles were organized by "Book/Film/Game" categories, but we felt it kinda split it all up too much since its all part of the same universe anyway. I was trying to contact you on IRC to explain but you weren't answering...anyway if you have any questions leave me a message or you can make a thread/talk page and we can discuss changes as a community. -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 03:20, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Hufflepuff's Cup

I don't understand why you are trying to delete the picture I found of the cup, because I would think most people would want to see what it will look like in the film. Hero of Time 87 06:24, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

I found it on an official site discussing the film. It IS an official picture, I just don't remember exactly which site it was. I found it earlier today and sent it to myself in case I couldn't remember how to get back to the site later on. It had several other pictures from the film. There is no reason to delete it. Hero of Time 87 06:33, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Delete it if you want, I could care less. I only found it because I had some extra time on my hands yesterday, but as with most people, I also have a job to do. I will try to re-locate it again later if I have some extra time, but I'm not going to make it the biggest priority since it's only a mere image, not a disputed interview. If you are that obsessive that you absolutely have to have a source, then search through the recent magazine articles because that's where it was. But if you want to delete something that most other sources haven't yet taken hold of, then go ahead. I only went to the trouble of getting it here so this wiki would have something most other sources don't yet have. But later on, when the image becomes more public, it will not be my fault that it was removed despite its authenticity. I personally think you're making a mountain out of a mole-hill, when I see many other images here that aren't always official images. I'm the one that took the trouble to get it here, so I think I've done my duty and I did it out of goodwill for the wiki. I consider it an act of rudeness however when someone does not appreciate the effort though and tries to negate it over nothing; it makes one not even want to take the time to help improve the wiki anymore for lack of appreciation. Hero of Time 87 12:46, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Pardon me for interceding, but I find this image exciting, wherever it came from! This is the first glimpse we've gotten of another of the Horcruxes since Tom Riddle's Diary. I don't think we should get rid of it merely because of bureaucratic pet-peeves. If nothing else, it gives the article about the cup an eye-catcher for readers and gives them an idea of what the cup will look like. TomMarvoloRiddle1926 13:09, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello and question about edit

Hi there, and thanks for the welcome.  :) I was wondering why my edit of Grimmauld Place (specifically, that Snape was able to bypass Moody's enchantments) was removed? I read the policies but I cannot find what I did incorrectly.

If it was due to a question of accuracy, my assertion was based on the timing of Snape acquiring the picture of Lily (from which he ripped the image of James and Harry off). Harry found the ripped picture before Yaxley gained entry to Grimmauld Place, and so the enchantments would still have been there. We learn from Snape's memories (assuming they are in chronological order, which they are portrayed to be) that he took the picture after the Battle over Little Whinging, which would be after Moody had set the 'anti-Snape' enchantments. We can assume from the circumstances of Dumbledore's demise (that it was planned and that we are told that Snape didn't really kill Albus), that Snape was able to get by the dust-form Dumbledore the same way Harry, Ron and Hermione truthfully claiming he did not kill the former Headmaster of Hogwarts.

Thanks again for your help.

Stevehim 08:42, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the clarification. I dug up the interview and you are correct...she did say that. It seems odd, however, that Snape's memories (as shown in the Penseive) would all be in chronological order except that one, so I'm guesing that JK made a mistake there. Of course, I wouldn't expect that to be posted unless she herself claimed that, so investigations will begin shortly.  ;)

Stevehim 16:52, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

After further investigation, I am convinced that Jo made a mistake in the interview, as I don't see how it can match the timeline we know from the novels, and nobody I posed this to has an answer either. Whether it's worth making a note of or not, I leave to you.

Stevehim 07:01, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much for the revision to Treacle tart. I had forgotten about copyright. I've added a link to the Muggle recipe. If you feel it's inappropriate for any reason, please feel free to undo it. Again, thanks.

Sirius' Death Date

I got it from the page about the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. That's all, I don't know where the person who wrote that got it from. It might not be right.

As for his year of birth, a link as why it is 1959 is located on the Sirius Black article discussion page just for clarification. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Miraitrunks766 (talkcontribs).

Just a question...

Hey. Sorry if this sounds kind of weird... but I was looking through the block log and saw that you unblocked "Epic lulz". You said he was your friend with an inside joke. We have a recurring vandalizer who vandalizes for "for great justice and epic lulz". He frequently moves Grawp to "ME????", and Hagrid to "HAGGER?!?!?!". I was just wondering... is there any connection? Again, sorry if I sound crazy... but I was just wondering... -- Freakatone Talk 23:51, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Editing other users' pages?

Hey Me Potter Fan, I think I've found some sort of a glitch. I can edit other users' pages-any time I want. I found that out just when I visited your page yesterday (I didn't edit anything, don't worry) can this be fixed? It would lead to awful trouble if other peoples pages were edited by someone who is a complete stranger. Prissymis 17:35, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

New editor

Good morning! I'd like to draw your attention to Forum:New wiki editor - it's news about a new feature we'd like to bring to your wiki. Thanks, Kirkburn (talk) @fandom 18:31, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Dear Me Potter Fan,

It has come to my attention, and the attention of an administrator, who has asked to remain confidential for the time being (due to threats of disclosure of private information to their family) that the administrator Matoro has come under the influence of the internet group "Anonymous". The administrator has been logged as the same IP address of a griefer under the name "Super Saiyan Canavi", a person posing as me.

We suspect upwards of seven people of Anonymous have become involved, as there were IPs tracked from several locations, two in the UK, several on the East coast of the US, a couple in the Middle East. This administrator involved banned this person on accords of griefing, but not a week later, Matoro unbanned this person, who revealed they were several people.

The griefing consisted of defacing my user page, confusing staff of the wiki, and creating general chaos. We were hoping that you might be able to do something about this very delicate situation, as a lot is at stake here, especially with concerns that the administrator's family will be told information that Matoro has somehow dug up.

Whether you choose to act or not is your own accord, but a corrupted administrator is a serious crime.

If you need proof, check the IP records of Super Saiyan Canavi and Matoro, and you'll see they're one in the same, unless he suspects even that and changes it somehow.

We're begging you to help here. The entire wiki's at stake.

But as I said, it's your decision.

-Sean James Canavi, Harry Potter Wikia member

Hello, I am Jack5555 and I have been a member here for a while, but I am more interested in becoming more involved. When I signed up, I did it hastily. So without realizing, I left the CAPS LOCK key on while entering my username, JACK5555. Is there any way possible you can fix my capitalization error and make it read Jack5555 instead? Thanks so much if you can! It has been bugging me forever!
