Fanon content

Hello there, the newly created article "Katherine of Aragon" is in fact not a legitimate article, but a piece of fanon. Therefore, fanon articles should not be linked into other articles, as this content does not belong on this wiki. I keep an eye for this kind of content, as this wiki is not the place for it.--RedWizard98 (talk) 13:33, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback, I really dislike fanon, the main reason being is that there are so many other sites for fan-fiction, but not this one. Kind regards and stay safe --RedWizard98 (talk) 14:11, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

Positive feedback

This might sound random, but I think the work you are doing is very good on this wiki; you are doing a great job of making sure policies are well-enforced and reverting any problematic edits to articles. Keep up the good work and happy editing. --RedWizard98 (talk) 21:38, June 7, 2020 (UTC)

Birthplace issue

Thanks for also trying to stop the vandalism. I've contacted fandom central staff about this suspicious account trying to impersonate me, as I strongly suspect who is behind them. We must remain vigilant and keep up the good work. --RedWizard98 (talk) 23:35, June 16, 2020 (UTC)

I could not agree with you more. Some people really have nothing better to do other than cause trouble and give other people trouble, which is their problem and not ours. Hopefully fandom central will put a stop to this soon. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 23:46, June 16, 2020 (UTC)

Article renaming

The template notice you edited (begat Voldemort's fall) specifically says "If you disagree with this proposal, please explain why at Category talk:Candidates for renaming." This implicitly discourages changing the proposal to your own. Cheers. --SWLover2 (talk) 22:35, June 18, 2020 (UTC)

RE 'Magical abilities and skills' sections Headers in sentence case

Thanks for the message - I have started a Forum topic to explain the conventions used historically in this section and open a discussion on formalizing or updating them as part of the Harry Potter Wiki:Layout guide. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 15:09, June 29, 2020 (UTC)

RE Article tense

Hi there - yes, per the Harry Potter Wiki:Policy#Style, all in-universe articles should be written in past-tense for consistancy. Real world subjects and Out of Universe articles are generally exempt so the articles avoid odd phrasing like "London was a city" or "Eddie Redmayne was an actor". This was discussed somewhat recently in the Forum if you want to see more of the reasonings for and against this approach.

Some editors are either unaware of the policy or don't agree with it, so there are many articles that have been shifted to present-tense over time. Any help you can lend to correct them and make them consistent is appreciated! Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:28, June 30, 2020 (UTC)

Wanted Files and Wanted Pages

Can we please hold off on removing red links to Wanted Files? There is a good chance that these links should be restored when we fix the missing redirects so having them show up in Wanted Files helps hunt down what Files that were renamed with a redirect but served a purpose for some page.

However the Wanted Pages definitely needs some attention so if you want to do some similar work, I'm sure Kates39 and others would appreciate the help. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:20, July 1, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation as to which files you were focused on. The trouble also remains however as Files may have been deleted that actually served a purpose on various pages (or their version history) so they may need to be restored and the red links again provide clues as to what Files need to be reviewed. The situation has uncovered a tangled mess that needs to be worked through slowly and with some deliberation. The Wanted Pages on the other hand are free and clear to fix as needed. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:34, July 1, 2020 (UTC)

WantedPages Edit Summaries

Hi there - just trying to figure out why you're going out of your way to highlight who left the redlink behind and when in your edit summaries. Having edited more of these than anyone else lately, it seems I've found an example from pretty much anyone that has ever deleted a File here, from Rhea to Kirkburn to Cav to myself. Seems like we need a better process figured out and possible codified when acting as a Content Moderator so this isn't such a persistent occurrence. Thoughts on a better method to avoid this issue in the future? Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 12:47, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

Well you're clearly skilled and motivated, so just trying to understand what the point of the extra effort was. Like I said, I've seen the name of every Content Moderator, Admin, and Bureaucrat here from over the years, plus some Staff, go by while getting this cleaned up. Any insights you have on how these broken links might be avoided going forward so this backlog doesn't happen again is appreciated! Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 13:07, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

Peppery breath

Hi, I did check Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire just, and it doesn't actually call the Peppery breath spell the "Pepper Breath Hex", but instead mentions as a hex with this effect; Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery simply calls it "Pepper Breath", which is a formal name. RE Content Moderator

Hello again. While I agree that it would be very helpful to the community to be able to have some additional knowledgeable and dedicated contributors such as yourself nominated for additional permissions, I do not feel this is possible given the open Mediation process as it involves questions surrounding my actions as an administrator, current content moderators, and the Voting Policies and procedures here. Until this Mediation is complete, these topics are not on solid enough ground to proceed forward with the usual confidence in the process and its outcomes. To that end I will see if TimeShade can define a path and time frame for reaching a resolution.

I, for my part, do appreciate all the work you've put in on the WantedPages, the family Appearances, some missing Redirects, the Past Tense fixes, and your other contributions. Hopefully we can get to the other side of the Mediation process soon and the community can return to nominating, discussing, and voting on possible candidates like yourself as we have done consistently and reliably in years past. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 14:19, July 14, 2020 (UTC)

No worries - everything is just a bit up in the air currently so not a lot of solid ground to move forward on. Once TimeShade clarifies the path to resolution that'll help so we all can find some clarity and reassurance in how things are handled here and can focus again on community tasks like nominations. I appreciate the enthusiasm and interest! Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:18, July 14, 2020 (UTC)

Policy Review & Proposals

As you have participated in the Forum:Policy Review process, I am notifying you of the goal to finalize any suggestions on these proposals in the next couple days in preparation for a series of votes to help choose between varying options.

While this timeline need not be a strict one, and more time of course will be allocated for further discussion as needed, my hope is that some attention on these proposals can bring us closer to clarifying suggestions, finding agreement where possible, and improving the wording to help facilitate any potential voting.

Many thanks for your time and effort on helping to make these improvements! --Ironyak1 (talk) 15:08, July 23, 2020 (UTC)

RE A quick question about murder

Hello - yeah there are several entries in Category:Murder victims that are probably worth reviewing. While the real-world dictionary doesn't include goblins in the definition obviously, would they have the same claims to human-like personhood in the Wizarding world? Probably? What about house-elfs? Maybe? Then there are cases like Krall and Leta Lestrange - no one made them walk into the Protego Diabolica fire so was it murder? If there are articles that clearly stick out as probably not falling under the definition they might be worth changing with a note in the Edit Summary or raising the question on the related Talk page. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 02:37, August 4, 2020 (UTC)

Leta's birth year

I've further explained in Talk:Leta_Lestrange page the 1896 error about Leta Lestrange's birth year.

RE: Leta's birth year

I'm sorry to bother you another time, but I've further explained in the Talk:Leta_Lestrange page why 1896 is not correct in Leta Lestrange's birth year.

RE Talk Page Policy

That line is about the general Talk pages for articles and such to avoid "who is your favorite character" type discussions and is defining what messages should not be posted, not which should be removed. As noted in the Harry Potter Wiki:Talk Page Policy "(for specifics about removing comments from a User talk page, please see the User policy)" which is more restrictive than the general policy. This should, and can, be made clearer during the Policy review but users shouldn't be selectively editing their Talk pages to leave only the messages they feel are "useful". We all get little oddities here and there - just add them to the archive. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:40, August 6, 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for that advice, I will look into creating an archive for my talk page. Kind regards --RedWizard98 (talk) 23:55, August 8, 2020 (UTC)

RE Remus Lupin & Ironyak1-bot

Thanks for the notice about the house-elf. The infobox routine to remove deprecated fields and restore missing ones is new, and the tabber is very rarely used, so it's not too surprising that it tripped over it. While the image field could be fixed (you just forgot the pipe for the field name i.e. |image=) it's usually best to revert the whole edit so the house-elf has a chance to try again and get it right. Time to have a talk about necessary improvements to one's performance and the high expectations we hold here - be shame to have to contact the House-Elf Placement Agency. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:36, August 10, 2020 (UTC)

DADA thoughts

Hello, for the DADA article, do you think a section should be included on the extra-curricular lessons Bill Weasley gives in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery year six, and should these topics (spells & creatures) be added to the DADA category and template? Thanks --RedWizard98 (talk) 12:50, August 12, 2020 (UTC)

Empty File Automation

Hey - whatever bot you are using to tag the empty files with the {{Delete}} template is crushing Special:WikiActivity by overloading the changes list. Are you already done or can you space this work out into sets of 100 spread out over several hours? Maybe it would be a good idea to discuss and coordinate such an action next time? Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:55, August 18, 2020 (UTC)

You edited ~750 Files by hand, often at the rate of 10 per minute, admittedly for no reason? Um, ok. Probably more useful to remove them from the articles, so they can actually be deleted, but do take it easy so the machines can keep up ;) Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 18:12, August 18, 2020 (UTC)

That's good - at least most of them were only linked on those several pages. There is a small set that is still linked to somewhere if you have any interest:

  • File:Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - Through the trapdoor
  • File:Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) - Toilet Troll
  • File:Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Number 12, Grimmauld Place
  • File:Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Movie Video - Dumbledore & Harry
  • File:Trailer For The Harry Potter Ignorant

After that it should be easy enough to delete them and it looks like the House-elf should be able to spot any others if there be more lurking about. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 18:39, August 18, 2020 (UTC)

Re: British or Irish

Hi there! TBH, I was actually going to ask again in the forum as to why "not tying the CAT to the template;" I know there'd be some exception (Morgana and people from her time?) but I feel like most would just fall under GBorIE, and if there's a way to automatically incorporate them with a template, place the CAT now would just have the extra CAT to be removed later. The purpose of my series of updates just now was just to place the missing GBorIE template; if there's a better way to filter out those needing the new CAT, it has not been found or mentioned in the forum thread, and what we have now should theoretically ensure any article using GBorIE to be processed. Say, I change those articles to having the new CAT (so they don't actually need additional fixing,) I think the script would just say those article already have that CAT, but idk if the act of processing them would take up time that could be used elsewhere. TBH, I think we were also kinda unsure if that CAT was actually the final decision we are goin with lmao. (I think that last one was the real main reason for not adding them, sorry for not leading with that one lol.) We can discuss a little more on the thread if you like. (Though probably much later, a little busy with RL stuff ATM.) Hope all is well, as well! =D --Sammm✦✧(talk) 10:32, August 19, 2020 (UTC)

Re: Chapter Title Commas

Hi. We were going back and forth about a chapter title comma on the Goblet of Fire movie page. My book does have a comma, so it’s interesting that your version doesn’t! I’ll yield to you on this one though, since you’re obviously the elder in the Harry Potter world and since the chapter title with or without the comma is correct either way.

Voting Policy

Hello - just for clarity, under the Harry Potter Wiki:Voting policy, the responsible administrator will administrate the vote, including tallying votes as needed. I think it's best we maintain a bright line on this requirement so users don't take it upon themselves to determine voter eligibility and adding-up or striking-out votes as was being done in the past. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:41, September 26, 2020 (UTC)

No worries - not a big deal, but changing the count for others implies you've validated their eligibility, with users in the past misunderstanding the requirements, or votes being re/moved improperly, and such. In short, it's just easier, and provides less room for mistakes and confusion, to not have several people trying to help organize an ongoing vote. I'll let Reverb frost know as well. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:23, September 27, 2020 (UTC)

RE RFP Announcement

Hello - this was asked recently for another RFP vote, but the Harry Potter Wiki:Voting policy says "At the time of announcing a proposal to Administration or the opening of a vote, a user may request attention be drawn toward the proposal via Community lists, Announcements, and other related tools." So the request needs to be when the nomination is posted or when the vote is opened. Making a site-wide Announcement has benefits and drawbacks in that there are likely to be more votes but more For and Against votes as well so the language appears intended to have the requestor make that choice early in the process and not just after the vote appears not to be going how the requestor wants. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:18, October 19, 2020 (UTC)

It's not a matter of relative importance of the votes, it's a matter of following policy. Much time and effort was put into updating the Harry Potter Wiki:Voting policy so that the process was explained in detail and could be applied consistently. This way nominees can't argue that their process was handled differently in a preferential or discriminatory manner compared to another nominee's. The that end, everyone has to follow the current policy (or if there is enough interest, amend it for future votes) but we can't just ignore or circumvent the policy because a nominee doesn't think they should have to request an Announcement when required by the policy's mandates. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:58, October 20, 2020 (UTC)
I was one of the authors of the policy, and Ironyak explains the purpose of putting it that way very well. I thought it was a good and fair way to help a user if they feel they need one, now that users need seven votes. An announcement of a vote should happen at the start if a user wants one. We can't announce one days into it, because it defeats the definition of announcing things.
Checking the User Rights policy, the policy says you can encourage others to participate but don't canvass for votes in support or against. It would have to be done in public, given what happened in Newt Strike's vote. I don't think it would be wrong if the OA wanted to put out an announcement that a vote will be closing in a day or two. Could be one way to encourage others to participate. I think it would have to be the OA's choice, if they feel the vote so far has strong support. We don't say an OA can't do that. Since the OA needs to handle the votes they open, Seth would have to do it.
If it has good support, we could even look into adding that option to the policy since your the second person to ask. Does anyone have any thoughts? - Kates39 (talk) 19:54, October 21, 2020 (UTC)

Hi there! I did not receive the message in time, but I see that your application is considered approved, so congratulations!

That said, unrelated to your User status, I'm uncomfortably feeling the need to having to directly write this to you, but as my thoughts were overlooked, here goes: As stated back in this edit, I do not wish to be listed on {{Activeusers}}, so please do not add me back again without my consent. While updating the template, you've also removed 3 Users that have contributed within 3 months, albeit considerably infrequent. As the template Talk page had the agreement to keep people on the list for that duration, I'm puzzled as to why you'd remove them preempt-ly when they could be justifiably done so in a couple of months should they remained inactive. Sirius Orion Black

Sirius Black's middle name is canon. Don't change my edits. On wikipedia, it says Sirius Orion Black. User talk: Michael Christopher Malfettano III

Wikipedia is not always a reliable and truthful source, so yes, we shall revert your edit on this matter, as he is never given a middle name anywhere in official HP canon. RedWizard98 (talk) 15:26, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Sirius Orion Black

Hello Again, MrSiriusBlack. This isMichael III Please do not change my edits on any page. Sirius may not have been called "Prisoner of Azkaban" in the series, but out of universe he is called that. Also, if you look on Sirius Black's Wikipedia page, it states his full name is Sirius Orion Black. For Fleur Delacour's page, please leave the romances section as Bill Weasley, the name he is most commonly reffered to as. As for Ronald Weasley's page, Please leave "Ron in there. With permission, I would like to add everyone's Yule Ball Dates to the romances box, including even if there was no romantic love. If you question any of my edits, please leave a message on my talk page (see above) before undoing my edits. I will reply to you as soon as possible. Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michael Christopher Malfettano III (talkcontribs) 15:26, 21 December 2020 (UTC).

Ron Weasley, Fleur Delacour, SIrius Black

Please keep the Prisoner of Azkaban alias in that box. also, please find out who is editing the Ron and Fleyr pages and tell them to stop. also read my message thoroughly and give a detailed reply. Thanks! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michael Christopher Malfettano III (talkcontribs) 15:42, 21 December 2020 (UTC).

Yule Ball

Hello! It is me,Mikey again. I wish for your approval of adding everyone's Yule Ball date into the romances box on their pages, even if there was no romantic love between them. Either that, or I can make another box thingy titled Yule Ball Date. Please reply! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michael Christopher Malfettano III (talkcontribs) 17:34, 21 December 2020 (UTC).

Muggle Studies

I changed the Newt Scamander article to match the Arthur article. We don't know if Arthur or Newt took the subject, but we know of the Instutute of Muggle Studies, implying that it refers to the field of study in general. Do you think that this is enough grounds to change it back? Rodolphus (talk) 15:42, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

User Box Thingies

How do you get those boxes on your User Page? The Ones like "This User's Favorite Character is Sirius Black" and "This User Supports Gryffindor"? Please tell me! User talk:Michael Christopher Malfettano III

I still can't figure it out. the instructions on the page you gave me weren't that clear. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michael Christopher Malfettano III (talkcontribs) 15:48, 6 January 2021 (UTC).

Name pronunciation

Hello! I was just wondering if Lucius Malfoy's name is pronounced Loo-see-us or Loo-Shus. Can you please tell me? Also, Please answer my question above. Thank You! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Michael Christopher Malfettano III (talkcontribs) 17:14, 7 January 2021 (UTC).

Arthur Weasley

What made you think I was saying Arthur Weasley had anything to do with the Institute of Muggle Studies? And regardless, how is that in any way a counter-argument to the point I made? You said that "there are no information confirming that 'Muggle Studies' is terminology used in any other setting than Hogwarts", and I confirmed that yes it was. And in any case - how and why does it even matter? This "ambiguity" you seem to worry so much about doesn't even exist. The abilities and skills section isn't a resume listing what subjects they learned at school, or where they worked, it is indicators of their what they know and what they can do. I don't see why we should start inventing conjectural names for things there already is a name for. Should I go to all other articles where someone without a confirmed passing mark on their exams and change "Charms" to "Spellcasting" and "Transfiguration" to "Transformation magic", too? Or Potions, should I call that "Magical mixtures"? Muggle Studies are no less unambiguous, since all its inclusion means is that Arthur has knowledge about the Muggle world. Also, don't try and pin "edit warring" on me, as if you didn't do the same thing. Tfoc (talk) 14:19, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, I'm glad something good came out of this; I've always enjoyed making people laugh. But to address your insinuation there, no, I don't think you are guilty of edit warring for trying to 'do your job as a content moderator,' I think you're guilty of edit warring because you repeatedly reverted my edits, just like I'm guilty of edit warring for repeatedly reverting yours. Conflict takes two or more participants, is what I'm saying; even if it's a conflict as minor as an edit war. But it's funny you should mention 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' situations, because that's the outlook I had when I undid your initial edit in the first place. And also, yeah, I figured you probably had forgotten about the Institute, that's why i brought it up. But then you reverted it again, and indirectly accused me of saying something I didn't say, and my discontent at the unnecessary conjectural name for Arthur's skill didn't soften at that, to be frank. Also, it shouldn't matter if the article referred to the class, as unless it mentions specifically that he took a class in the description of said skill, the implication is quite clear: He has knowledge on the subject matter students study at Hogwarts. Recreation of deleted article

Hello Sirius, hope all is well, I just wanted to inform you that a page you deleted has been created again (harry potter fanfictions). Other than that enjoy your weekend!VoldyIsNowMoldy! (talk) 15:16, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

File name format

Hey - as an FYI the source short code such as GOF or PAS is traditionally appended to the end of the filename not the beginning. This helps facilitate editing (when working on the article for Rubeus Hagrid an editor is more likely to start typing File:Rubeus... or File:Hagrid than File:GOF... or File:PAS... to see what images are available) and follows the File Summary block's "Description - Source" order. While not universal, this filename convention is used on many thousands of images (e.g. Category:Images from Harry Potter: Wizards Unite) so it's better to bring the PAS files into agreement than change them to some different and unique format. I'm working through Category:Images from Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells to help unify their naming, but going forward it would help to follow the established convention rather than having to rename the files multiple times. Thanks --01:29, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Sorry for notifying you, RedWizard has confirmed with me that due to the fact that is book is mentioned in J.K. Rowling’s official website, it is considered canon and cannot be deleted Albusnotdumbledore (talk) 12:39, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Category suggestion

I might have misplaced the suggestion, but if you visit the talk page "Ministry Duellist Certification exam", you will find a question that you might be able to help me with. ^^' Tfoc (talk) 15:53, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

User page links

Hey! I was hoping you could help sort out links I have found to a user page (Shiruzuka2997). I found files in Category:Candidates for deletion that needed to be deleted. I checked and they didn't link to any pages. However, the files now show up in Wanted Pages. When I click on the user page, it says the profile page hasn't been set up and I can't see the files being used. I can't even edit the page. Do you have any idea why and of what to do? - Kates39 (talk) 12:29, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! I had to switch devices, but it's working now. Hopefully Fandom will sort that out soon. - Kates39 (talk) 17:26, 19 February 2021 (UTC)

I got a notif saying you messaged my talk page, but I didn't see anything. Why was that? Please reply! CheeseUnicorn (talk) 18:07, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Oh thanks for answering! Thanks for doing it as well. Now that I'm here, I had another question. I uploaded an aesthetic, a Harmione one I put together. I posted it once and put it on my user page. However, as I was editing it today, I saw it had been deleted by Seth Cooper for "Housekeeping." Why? Thanks again! CheeseUnicorn (talk) 19:17, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I'm back. I wasn't sure how to re-upload it, it said you needed all sorts of info. Could you help? Thanks, CheeseUnicorn (talk) 14:22, 26 March 2021 (UTC) Thank you so much!

Gryffindor girl

What do you mean "Unsourced"? She was seen in the Room of Requirement when the DA was welcoming Harry back at Hogwarts in the Deathly Hallows part 2. Ech2000 (talk) 16:22, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

What do mean by "not a confirmed member"? The only people who knew about the Room of Requirement are those that joined the DA. You are telling me that she is the only person in the Room of Requirement that is not in the DA during the scene when the trio returned to Hogwarts? Ech2000 (talk) 22:38, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey, I would love to get your input over at Talk:Quirinus Quirrell's first mountain troll#Who's on first? when you have the chance. It's a topic I have been trying to sort out for a while, and I would be grateful for your feedback. - Kates39 (talk) 10:44, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the feedback. I have found a few wantedpages which link to archives that haven't been set up, and I can't work out why to stop it. Do you have any thoughts on what could be causing it? - Kates39 (talk) 10:44, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
That was a great help thank you, I hadn't googled it. I will look into it and see if I can understand any of it, but it does appear to be above my coding knowledge too. If I can't, I will ask for suggestions via the talk-page and perhaps Ironyak or another editor can help too. - Kates39 (talk) 15:11, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
Just FYI - have sent this issue off to FANDOM to see if they can sort out the odd Archive WantedPages on those dozen Talk pages. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:38, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
General update - The problem is definitely caused by {{ArchiveList}} - the strangeness is that it works correctly when creating the page viewable in the web, but creates an extra archivelink when WantedPages does its indexing. So it's a particular problem caused on some deep and hidden level by the interaction between those components which makes it hard to debug. Kirkburn is taking a look at it, but if it doesn't get fixed we can look at just doing manual archive links (like those on Harry Potter Wiki:Requests for administrator attention) or dealing with the handful of redlinks for now.
Also for MSB - can you please stop updating the link on my Talk page as it constantly pings me that I have a new message. We're all aware of the situation and can find the examples as needed. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:51, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
No, Module:Archive very much looks to be the cause of the problem, but only when WantedPages does its indexing - on the Talk page itself as rendered for the web, Module:Archive works fine. So trying to fix it is difficult, unless you have access to the innards of MediaWiki to see how these components interact behind the scenes (or want to change one thing, wait a day for the next indexing, rinse & repeat). Given it's a dozen or so redlinks out of 800+, probably best to just let FANDOM do its thing and see if they can resolve it - if not, then we'll need to consider other options. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:11, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

William Weasley

Hello. I know I am not a Moderator or anything but William Weasley's Romances should have Emily Tyler and Fleur Delacour on them. I believe you do not play Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. To know about Emily Tyler click here.

Problem with some deleted files

Hello - in spot checking some of your deletions, I ran across a series of (1, 2, 3, 4) photographs taken at The Making of Harry Potter that show an alternate version of the Order of the Phoenix photograph. As hopefully has been made clear through the Forum discussion, images that have the required Summary information should not be deleted because of quality issues (especially as these come from a user at a Studio tour so would be very difficult to replace or update with better versions). Also as an FYI, all four of these images are still linked from the Order of the Phoenix photograph article in the BTS section, but because the link uses the "en" language code before they apparently don't show up on WhatLinksHere. Strange situation to be sure, but kinda of highlights why "fixing" old images through deleting them has a variety of pitfalls and in this case would remove what appears to be completely unique and almost impossible to replace information for no reason at all.

Please take this in the tone it is intended - as a piece of constructive criticism that demonstrates one of many reasons why the related policies and procedures exist and should be followed. I will go ahead and restore these 4 images and fix the links, but if there are other items that you deleted because of "low" quality issues, it's probably best you correct those mistaken deletions. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 03:42, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

PS - I am going to leave the situation as it for awhile so you can check out the oddity of the problem for yourself. In restoring image 3 I ran across the situation so that image is fixed, but the others demonstrate the issue. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 03:48, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
Have you had a chance to look at this? Thoughts? I ask as I have not seen you restore any of your "low quality / unused" deletions including others like these that appear to be properly summarized. Do you have plans to review and correct these issues? Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 12:41, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
In spot checking some of those hundreds of deletions, some have other issues like lacking a source, and some were completely sourced, summarized, and categorized, and had no reason in policy they should have been deleted. As you made the choice to wrongly delete them, yes, I would expect you to put in the time and effort to review and restore such items as needed.
In reply to your message, I did not say you were an idiot, but as you've noted, some mistakes were made. Correcting those mistakes should be the focus of your current efforts as it is not fair that I or other editors should need to clean-up the mess you created and can fix yourself. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 17:13, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm seeing images (e.g. File:Screen Shot 2018-12-24 at 5.07.27 PM.png having to be restored that were in use on a talk page when you deleted them. These obviously would have been shown to be in use, although WhatLinksHere would have these links and should always be checked before deleting. It is not ok to delete items that are the topic of a talk page comment and then remove the redlink.

As you're back to deleting files now, have you finished reviewing your previous deletions and restoring any mistakes made? If I end up having to review those 300+ deletions you made and end up finding many mistakes, I am going to question whether or not you should have the Content moderator rights and likely raise this for community discussion. Again, it is not ok to repeatedly break policies you should be aware of and then leave the mess behind for others to have to fix (which should have been made clear the last time former Content Moderators did this). Please take the time to fix those mistakes before doing other work. Thanks --Ironyak1 (talk) 02:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Yes, {{Cleanup}} can be used for any arbitrary improvement suggestion, such an better image version, as was discussed. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 16:25, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

RE: Help namespace

Hi there, MSB! Thank you, so, so much for the tips! Unfortunately, the compare revision doesn't work, and with the auto redirect to CC unable to be disabled, I followed up Category talk:Help with the proposal of moving those two to project pages. --Sammm✦✧(talk) 10:44, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

I added the book quotation to asphodel -- this is canon and printed.

Please do not remove it! Your complete reversion was aggressive and unfair. A real quote from the book, and even the most important and first reference was not do be deleted!

I did not add the possible interpretation, even while I believe it might be added with a comment to a "possible" interpretation. What do you think?
