Sure, sorry I didn't know. I got booted from there yesterday for what I did a year ago on another wiki, so I'm going to stop those Help Wanted posts. Sorry again.

Sorry. I got demoted at that wiki for what I did on another wiki a year ago, so I'll stop those posts. THanks for telling me and sorry again.

Aequus156 and the new wiki

From User_talk:Aequus156, I see that s/he earlier today spammed the main page in order to promote his/her new The Casual Vacancy wiki. Sad to say, s/he has done it again, this time on the article page of the novel (as I said on the article's talk page, one link on a page might be legitimate promotion but three is spamming), and even worse, removed the existing link to the older (and far better) wiki!

I think a ban is in order. Entirely up to you, of course. -- RobertATfm (talk) 15:40, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

Hub article

Hi, Professor! What do you think about a hub article for the small Death Eater articles?  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 20:23, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I meant the articles with the Notability. This notability lead me to this idea that you already had, too.

Re:Wikia Features / Congratulations

I haven't been around in a while. My monitor burned out on me on Thursday (I think?), and I haven't been able to get a "new" one until today. It appears the discussion is still ongoing, so I'll leave my comments when I have the time.

Also, a belated congrats on your promotion to administrator! -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 23:43, October 22, 2012 (UTC)

Vandal ban needed

Check Special:Contributions/; this IP has today vandalised Talk:Main Page, and a block is thus called for. I don't know how long a block is usually imposed on this wiki; in cases of mild to medium severity such as this, where the offender is anonymous, I usually give one or three months. -- RobertATfm (talk) 11:56, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

First off.. hello. Second, congratulations on being made an administrator here on the Harry Potter Wiki. Third, I figured I'd tell you that chapters 12-18 will, if the Insider means exactly a week, be released on the eve before Hallowe'en. So yeah, that's about it. 02:08, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Hello (yes, this is Hunniebunn). I made a GIF for Shooting spell, and here is the link: I wondered if you knew how to download it onto here so that I could add it to the page? Thanks. 04:26, October 24, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, the video only showed the ground erupting slightly as though something had burrowed into it, when the spell was cast. I uploaded until Harry cast the spell on the rabbit (the second after it ran away, and the gun noise could be heard when Harry pointed his wand at it). Anywho, I figured it'd at least be something to use. 19:24, October 24, 2012 (UTC)

Infobox problem

Hey, I looked at Template:Individual infobox. {{{{{{2|name}}}}}} should be replaced with either:

  • {{{name|{{PAGENAME}}}}} - uses the page's name if no name parameter is used. This is standard practice.

  • {{{name|}}} - uses just the name parameter.

Either one will fix your problem. Dzylon (Talk) 02:32/October 25, 2012

Sorry, replied on my page (force of habit after working on talkback-based wikis). Anyway... you have a message on User talk:Dzylon. | Dzylon (Talk) 03:16/October 25, 2012
Alright. Also, as my bot doesn't have a bot flag here, the changes made by it will flood RecentChanges and WikiActivity (though that shouldn't last long). Also, semi and fully protected pages won't be changed (as my bot isn't autoconfirmed here, nor is it an admin. Dzylon (Talk) 03:42/October 25, 2012

Casual Vacancy wiki

I've now founded a third The Casual Vacancy wiki at As you can see, it has a much shorter URL than either of the others, making interwiki links a lot easier; I've also chosen a colour scheme which is at least an order of magnitude easier on the eyes than that of w:c:casual-vacancy, and at least two orders of magnitude more readable than that of w:c:the-casual-vacancy.

If you want to look at it, and possibly contribute, feel free. I've uploaded the favicon, but for some reason it isn't yet showing for me; I'm currently in the process of transferring the contents of the first TCV wiki, to get things started.

Of course, if the URL of the new wiki is to be added to this wiki's TCV page (replacing the present lnk?), that will have to be done by somebody else as I don't want to appear to be self-promoting (although, unlike another editor I won't name, I don't suffer the delusion that I "own" this wiki, merely becuse I founded it). -- RobertATfm (talk) 01:54, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

After numerous tries, I've settled (for the time being) on a black-on-beige scheme. I've also turned off the background. Annoyingly, the favicon still isn't showing for me. -- RobertATfm (talk) 04:17, October 27, 2012 (UTC)
Your attention is needed: I've just copied your Template:Quote over to the new wiki, and there's a problem with it; the example given includes the template recursively, which is Not Allowed, so the intended result doesn't show properly. The result needs to be edited to use the markup instead of the template, but as I don't fully understand Parsertongue I don't know how to do this. Could you see to it? -- RobertATfm (talk) 04:59, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate the time you took to write to me, Professor, but I'm afraid that being admin and bureaucrat of two different sites and a casual editor on another two is quite enough responsibility as it is. Thanks, though. --Hunniebunn (talk) 23:55, October 27, 2012 (UTC)

That's true; I suppose I'd best consider it. By the way, I found a quite amusing and interesting post here Bellatrix's Secret on Mugglenet, and wondered whether you wanted to read it (if you hadn't already, of course). --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:06, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

Red Sparks/Periculum

As you may have seen on the talk page for what is currently Red Sparks, I have my doubts now that that and Periculum are the same. I would have renamed that page Periculum and made a new one for Red Sparks, but I can't as there's a redirect there. I wondered if perhaps now that you're an admin you can undo the redirect, or if perhaps there was something I'd been missing. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:15, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, never mind. I figured it out. --Hunniebunn (talk) 00:18, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

Wikia's Time to Play

Hey Tofty,

Wikia is rolling out a fun new initiative for the holiday season called “Time to Play” where we ask our wikis what page they’re most proud of. We want to know which page you would want to have represent Harry Potter Wiki. There will be an official blog going out on Nov. 1 but we wanted to reach out to you early and see if you were interested in participating now.

If you wanted to participate, a “Time to Play” badge would go up on the right rail of the mainpage that links users to the page that you choose, while the footer will live on that same page that links to hub pages eg. for Time to Play goodies. You can see how the badge looks by clicking here and how the footer will appear by clicking here.

We will feature Harry Potter Wiki on in one the three biggest spots that we reserved for “Time to Play” participants on a rotating basis, as well as a feature on the hubs.

Let me know if you have any questions, I hope you decide to participate! Kate@fandom 23:28, October 30, 2012 (UTC)

Saw your comment to Kate, just wanted to give you a quick answer. As soon as you all figure out which article you'd like to focus on just leave Kate a msg and we'll get you set up. We would love for your other wiki to participate, leave Kate a talk page msg there with a link to the article you choose, and we'll get that one set up for you too! Sena@fandom 01:37, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Fantastic, we've put it live on Eternal Sonata Wiki and super excited that Harry Potter is excited to participate!

Kate@fandom 16:47, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Love it! I do so love Professor McGonagall! It's a hard choice on Harry Potter Wiki :)

Hello ProfessorTofty. Just wondered, have you checked the Pottermore Insider today? You'll find a surprise there. Hunniebunn (Talk)

RE: Time

Yes, I'm quite looking forward to it. My only problem is.. school. I have to leave at 8:10 sharp to get to school on time, and so I'll be lucky to get through the chapters. And so I have to wait till after school so I can view them all simultaneously. Tell me how it goes, though - it sounds like fun. --Hunniebunn (Talk)

Another thing: We are at the end of the second book. The {{Pottermore}} template still exists and is used on pages with Pottermore content. What shall we do about it? Delete it, as Seth and 1337star suggested? Or keep, as I favoured? --Hunniebunn (Talk) 02:15, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Pottermore Tag

All right then. I'd offer to help, but I'm not that great with codes whilst on my laptop and will be heading to bed soon. Thanks. And enjoy the rest of Chamber of Secrets - I'm sure you will. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 03:09, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Rollback rights

I'm wondering if I should have rollback rights on this wiki. I think I've done enough (good) edits by now to be a trusted user, especially since I'm only asking for rollback, not full admin (I have enough adminships to be getting on with). How does one request rollback rights here?

On another topic, has the colour scheme changed slightly? I think the red of the navigation bar, and the salmon-pink of the top bar on the edit page, makes a good contrast with the teal of the sky in the background graphic. -- RobertATfm (talk) 10:31, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Order of Merlin

Thank you very much for presenting me the award - I hope to continue making good, quality edits to the wiki. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 20:12, October 31, 2012 (UTC)

Finite Incantatem Merge

I have merged Finite Incantatem with General Counter-Spell for the following reasons:

  1. They have the exact same effect.
  2. General Counterspell was released with the second book on Pottermore, while Finite Incantatem was first shown in that same book.
  3. The length of the incantation matches the time it would take for one to move their wand as shown for the wand motion of the General Counter-Spell.
  4. GCS has an image on Pottermore, while Finite Incantatem doesn't - and Finite Incantatem is the only one without a wand motion.

--Hunniebunn (Talk) 00:54, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the trouble I've given you. However, my second point is that the way I was taught to make a merge was to copy all the information from one page, redirect the page you took the content from to the new page, and then incorporate both sets of info into a new article. I did so - you can see on General Counter-Spell. However, I do agree that we ought to have a nice proper discussion on the topic first, something I should have waited for. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 01:09, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

In response to your saying that I merged them after you sent me the message: you sent it two minutes before I published my changes. I actually sent you the first message right before I got to work, and started at it whilst you were writing. But anyways, yes, I agree that discussion (and patience, something I need to work on) are important. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 01:16, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Future Merges

All righty then, thanks. --Hunniebunn (Talk) 01:28, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

Hey, thank you for the Prefect badge. That's a nice surprise. I should tell you that there are a few articles where I thought the info is so new that I did not switch, like Peeves, Peeves's contract, Polyjuice potion and The Toad after I've read that Pottermore shall offer new infos about ghosts and Polyjuice potion. That I think should you decide, you have an account there, I've not.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 21:37, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't realize it counted as advertizing. Hermione – The Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows Illustration(Always Accio Me)

New Page

Hi. I was wanting to know if one page I was considering creating is article worthy. I don't think it is, seeing as it is only based on a grey feather, which most likely came from an owl. See this page to see what I mean. Sorry to trouble you, and I'd like to say that your work as an admin so far has been brilliant. Hermione – The Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows Illustration(Always Accio Me)

It was an image I came across on Pottermore. I was putting images of the bertie bott's beans up on the appropriate page, so I had to look through the 'trunk area' on pottermore where the images were loacted, and I just came across the feather which I must have 'picked up' from a scene at some point. Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows Illustration(Mischief Managed Always)

Thanks for the help. :) The Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows IllustrationMischief Managed Always
I Erm, I think it wasn't one of the latest updates. I think I got it a while ago, if you give me a short while, I'll create a new account and try to find out. This is the page right now. I'm adding object boxes to a few other pages, and also, how can you delete a category from a page or visa versa if that makes more sense? The Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows IllustrationMischief Managed Always
Thanks. I'll look for it and try and find it by tomorrow at the latest. The Half-Blood PrinceDeathly Hallows IllustrationMischief Managed Always
The page was put up for deletion so not to worry about the label. They are considering creating an owl feather page in which the image and eagle owl feather could be used. One little query though, I've looked at my talk page and found that I'm part of the prefect category. I've seen people with badges to that effect, but i have never been notified that i have earned one or whatever it is. A little light on the matter and i would be most grateful. It's ridiculous, but this Wiki does not want to mark your name orange in the Special page "Recent changes". Perhaps someone does not want you as admin :-))) ?!?

Hi, it's me again. I had asked in the Community Wiki Germany what can be the reason why I see your name in the "Recent changes" in blue and not in orange. That's the answer I got:
"The class selector for the table was not written correctly. ProfessorTofty has forgotten the "d" in" Perhaps that helps.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 14:51, November 7, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, it works now and I know why because a user in the Community-Wiki Germany wrote this to me:
"Your Admin, Harry, is right: In en.hp-wikia/special: WikiActivity (which means "Recent changes" in our de-Wikia) he sees his orange entries.
It seems he does not often use the Special:Recent Changes, so it was apparently not noticed by him (yet)."  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 18:53, November 7, 2012 (UTC)

Remembrance Day

Hello Professor. I know you aren't all too familiar with Remembrance Day and hence it's probably not a thing you do all too thoroughly, but I figured I'd pass on this video to you - it's quite inspiring and well sung. Thank you. --Remember (Least We Forget) 22:26, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

Really? That's quite interesting - sometimes people here in Canada call it Veteran's Day, Soldier's Day, or even Anti-War Day, though mostly it remains Remembrance Day. You'd never believe it, but this morning we had a soldier whose family was from Ohio come to my school; he was raised in Canada but born in Ohio. I find that quite interesting, considering where you live. --Remember (Least We Forget) 22:40, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

U.S. Veteran's Day

Hi, I read your message on Hunnie Bunn's page. He sent me the video, too. Have you looked already? Wonderful music, but serious theme. I like the end line of the video very much but I don't want to tell too much when you perhaps have not seen yet. That's interesting that the Remembrance Day in Canada is the same as your U.S. Veteran's Day. You knew it without knowing that you knew it. Different names - same theme.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 22:37, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

You have a good ear - it wasn't until I saw the cutscene with the people playing the bagpipes that I realized that's what it was. But yes, the bagpipes and the accordion simultaneously were being played. As for Canadian entertainment and such, I've watched the Red Green Show once, but I'm not that big of a fan of television. I'm more of a literature or music sort of guy. Then again, if LMFAO represents this century's music, it's quite pitiful. --Remember (Least We Forget) 23:31, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

Hello Professor. I wondered... I've been meaning to make a forum, but the best way that I know how to do that was to make a blog and hope somebody would read it and make it a forum for me. RE:Romilda Goshawk

No, actually, I don't even own a PS3 to begin with (although I would love getting my hands on a copy of Book of Spells) -- the first walkthroughs are being uploaded to YouTube and the like. I've put the link to such a video on the "Notes and references" section of the article. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 21:16, November 13, 2012 (UTC)

There is nothing in the game proper (the parts that I have seen thus far, that is) that says that the Book of Spells is 200-years-old (when you are introduced to it, it is covered in dust, and it is mentioned that it is "very old", but nothing more). There is an event (I'm earnestly trying not to spoil you, here) mentioned to have happened in 1779, and the text refers to the late 18th century as "relatively recently in wizarding history" -- I wouldn't think a book would refer to something that happened a mere twenty years ago as "relatively recent", instead choosing the word "contemporaneously", but perhaps that's just me.
My possible explanations are: the "200-year-old-book-thing" was something that the game developers/producers had in mind when creating the look and feel of the game, but did not treat that as rock-solid fact (out-of-universe explanation); or, that the game is set sometime after 2121 (in-universe explanation). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 16:34, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Hello. First off, thanks for removing the category on my userpage, I keep forgetting to take it off myself. Secondly, do you recognize this image from anywhere? Sorting Hat

Just a suggestion. Should we create a section under the Sorting Hat article about the questions it ask's on Pottermore? Basically, I have two speeds. Hostile or smart-alek. Your Choice.

Hi, I noticed you reverted my edits to Tiago Montoya. I understand that you don't want completely far-out name interpretations, but since no other Etymology section I've noticed has had references I decided to include it when I saw the article, making sure to word it tentatively.

The first name of the teammate Inigo Fuente Marrero, the similarity in sound of "Tiago" and "Inigo" and the obvious sense of humour of the Quidditch World Cup developers, especially in their naming of characters (such as Denison Frisby, Katrina von Glockenspieler & Kelly Whakkaarangapawarau) make me pretty sure that this was a deliberate pop culture reference (maybe it's a generational thing?).

Is there any place in the Wiki (such as an analysis of pop culture analogues in the Harry Potter series, or humour in the games) that it might have a place, or any compromise on the wording that you'd consider? Thanks. --xensyriaT 22:22, November 23, 2012 (UTC)

Hello Professor. Sorry to bother you, but I have a few queries.
First of all, I realize that tomorrow you're going to be unavailable (traveling to wikia headquarters, I believe?), so I figured I'd wish you best of luck in whatever awaits you.
However, my other purpose in writing is to ask whether you would have a problem with my integrating the information from the page "Smokescreen Spell" into the page "Patronus Charm", per my logic given on the talk page for "Smokescreen Spell" (seen here). Of course it will wait until tomorrow, but I wanted to see whether you would give a thumbs-up or not. --This is an automatically sent message. (You can reply here) 02:22, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

RE Wrock Songs

Okay sorry ! :) Basically, I have two speeds. Hostile or smart-alek. Your Choice.

Wiki Videos

Hi, ProfessorTofty!

I just wanted to let you know that we are going to start implementing the video methods that were discussed when you visited our office! To remind you, we will be doing the bulk of the work by finding relevant great videos and embedding them on the wiki. We will also update a part of the Community Messages, and create a rotating gallery of videos on the main page. The example of the rotating gallery can be seen here:

Let us know if you have any more questions or concerns!

RE:Two issues

  1. I hadn't noticed you had set up a forum; I've taken a look and I totally agree, but perhaps you should read my (lenghtier) response there (we also have to see to that the Featured Images, DYK, and the like get featured; frankly, I'm sick of having the same info on the Main Page for months at a time);
  2. About the dub voice actors, I honestly do not remember doing that. The page must've been awkwardly written, or just a stub, because there are now loads of pages on such voice actors (and I, myself, created Ana Zanatti and Diogo Morgado just last week, and I sure don't want to be seen as someone who uses double standards). I'd say we'd tend to keep them, as a general principle, just like we do with pages about extras and minor actors. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 23:02, December 10, 2012 (UTC)
(By the way, and on a completely unrelated topic; I see that you and Hunnie Bunn also tried to decypher the mysterious scipt on the Transfiguration blackboard -- I've stumbled across its meaning (see my complete explanation here: User talk:Hunnie Bunn#Transfiguration blackboard) --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 23:07, December 10, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Video viewing

Yup, I can see them alright. --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 19:25, December 13, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Design

Well I could honestly think of a hundred things... the main thing that I need really needs to be added is the Wiki Navigation background. If you look on Survivor Wiki, it has water background, perhaps here we could make it (for the time being) something Christmassy. Anyway, I think absolutely anything is accomplish-able. RE:Featured Articles

Actually, I think any of them would be a wise choice, though Bathilda Bagshot's is my favourite, to be honest, for the choice - it's well- written and well-sourced, has lots of information, and an adequate amount of photos. --Happy Christmas! (Season's Greetings) 02:41, December 15, 2012 (UTC)

Draco Malfoy

You seem to forget ProfessorTofty that Draco served as the main antagonist in Half Blood Prince

Hey, I saw your post on Seth Cooper's talk page and followed the link to the Harry Potter article. That's interesting. I like it.  Harry granger   Talk   contribs 12:25, December 20, 2012 (UTC)

As my user is banned I have only the choice of using a sock puppet. But when trying to help, by suggesting changes on both talk pages and user talk pages, but I can't get a response, like good idea or no, that's not a good idea I have to act myself. But when I'm trying to help, my edits are almost always deleted. Furthermore I want to know why Cadogan's parent couldn't be called Mr. and Mrs. Cadogan. Please, I'm trying to show that I regret my heavily stupid behaviour the past few years, but I simply can't get any response unless I edit something. -- 06:52, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

I then stop editing anything, unless it is vandalism or there's a good reason, and then report to you for some changes I think of, then you can decide whether or not it should be. Some people don't think of what they have before they lose it, and I was one of them. -- 12:16, December 21, 2012 (UTC)
Thank you. I will really try to be a better wiki-user this time, I really will. Then we can talk my user at a later point. -- 16:01, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Time-Turner & "Image" of Invisible Book of Invisibility

Sorry for not having responded yesterday. I wasn't at home, and everyone was looking at me funny when I sneaked to the computer to browse through the new Pottermore chapters and when I giggled to myself after reading about Sir Cadogan's misadventures.

Anyway, I think that the Time-Turner is a pretty neat idea (a "look how much we've grown", as it were), although I'm not entirely sure how it will work?

As for The Invisible Book of Invisibility... I don't deserve the credit; that is literally the image of the book featured in Pottermore (yet another of those things that made me giggle, and that made everyone look at me as if I was slow-witted in some way). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 17:18, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

Re:Linking of Deer

Sure, I have the free time. That sounds like a fine way to split it up. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 18:24, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

Alright. Well, I just went ahead and linked to the more "important" of the mentions of deer/stags/does then. If you want to make further links when you have the time, go ahead. -- 1337star (Drop me a line!) 18:51, December 21, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't see any blog police like that any where on the page. It must've been hiding. Sorry about upsetting you (or other admins)!

When I edit here (what may be quite rarely) I'll have a good read of those! =)-Roger6881 Waddle On! 18:35, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

Missing information

The article Helga Hufflepuff's portrait needs to be expanded with information, it only says that the portrait remains in the Hufflepuff Basement of Hogwarts Castle. Also the Screaming Bogey of Strathtully article needs an appearance-section. -- 12:28, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

Do we need an infobox in the Bogey-article, or is that unnecessary? -- 13:06, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
Your edit to Helga Hufflepuff's portrait have been undone, just to your notice. -- 17:35, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
