Pomona Sprout's office

Hi! I'm writing in your new page to discuss the article you created Pomona Sprout's office. According to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (video game) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (video game) (both GBC versions) the office is in Greenhouse II. Should we create a page for each greenhouse? This makes sense, as we have Greenhouse I (1st year classes are taught here), Greenhouse II (Sprout's office) and Greenhouse III (2nd year and others). The films and video games show more greenhouses that would be for advanced levels. Thanks, RavenclawcrestThe Evening Prophet Ravenclawcrest (Owl Post) 22:45, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

The office is confirmed as Greenhouse Two in PS/vg and CS/vg (Watch this video - Minute 1:03). You can see three greenhouse. The first is the first-year classroom (Greenhouse One). The second is the office. The third is locked in PS/vg and unlocked in the latter: it must be Greenhouse Three. As Pomona Sprout's office is conjeture title (as Charms Classroom, instead of Classroom 2E) I will move it to Greenhouse Two. I hope there is no problem. Thanks, RavenclawcrestThe Evening Prophet Ravenclawcrest (Owl Post) 23:49, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

1990-91 season qryffindor quiddith team

We need to add this season to the page as we know a few interesting things about it;

It was Charlie Weasley's final season.

We know Gryffindor failed to win the Quidditch Cup this season as Wood was on the team and it is stated that he did not win the Quidditch Cup until 1993-94.

Spinnett was sub Chaser, Johnson was Chaser and Wood was Keeper.

Hey would the details of a mugglenet game be considered canon?-Donmax —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

What do u think

Im thinking of making a page of all of Harry's dreams and analyzing them. What do you think. A lot of his dreams predict future storylines or events. Do u think it'll get deleted or need to be vertified. Please give me your opinion.-Donmax

bertie's beans

Hi, I was curious, do you know where all of those unsourced flavours came from? That was a lot of flavours not to have sources. Oh, and I was just thinking if the source was the bertie's bott's beans that jelly belly came out with, could there be another section somewhere, or maybe a real world article listing those flavors, if you look closely at the Harry Potter jelly belly package on the site there are some flavours on there that aren't listed. --BachLynn23 15:13, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I've been scouring the internet some, I know there are a few more flavours there in the real world HP beans that aren't listed yet, but I can't find a decent source: --BachLynn23 15:40, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

learnt or learned

Hey, is there any consensus on here whether learnt or learned should be used? I know that they are both words used in Britain, but learnt is not used in America at all. I've noticed both words are used throughout the site. I was just wondering if it mattered. --BachLynn23 19:02, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Oh, and could you take a look at the page for ascendio, I added a behind the scenes comment, but got thinking about it, and based on the whole cannon hierarchy, I'm thinking maybe Harry being a known user of the spell should entirely be in behind the scenes as in the books he doesn't use the spell. I mean if he didn't use the spell in the book than that's the higher cannon right? --BachLynn23 19:08, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, do you know if there is an article somewhere on here for the spell Snape tries to cast on the marauder's map in Harry's third year ("Reveal your secret")? --BachLynn23 19:45, September 13, 2010 (UTC)

Dear Seth,

What do you mean when I say that Voldemort is elegant is over the top? In the sixth book, Dumbledore said that Voldemort prefers objects with grandeur and elegance.

(Julie Yeston 01:40, September 14, 2010 (UTC))

spell questions

1) There is a spell that Snape uses in the movie Prisoner of Azkaban, when he catches Harry out of bed, he points he wand at the marauder's map and says "reveal your secret", I've been trying to find if there's already a page for this, or for that matter should this "spell" have its own page. 2) Rowboat spell links to hogwarts boats on the list of spells page, but I was thinking, in the first book Hagrid taps the row boat 3 times with his umbrella to make the rowboat go faster, so could these be the same spells and if so, should rowboat spell actually have its own page. 3) Lego Harry Potter has the spell Anteoculatia that makes antlers sprout on a person's head, do you think this is enough to merge this with Antler spell, or should they remain 2 separate spells? Let me know what you think...thanks!  :-) I asked JKoch, but he isn't sure. --BachLynn23 17:29, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the help, I created Rowboat spell article and redirected Rowboat Spell to it (I was pretty sure that Spell wasn't supposed to be capitaltised in the article title), and I redirected Anteoculatia to Antler spell and made the necessary edits. --BachLynn23 18:23, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yo Seth, how do u delete articles. Do i have that priviledege, could you tell me how to do it.- Donmax

Sauce Bechamel

Can you verify where this appears? It says in the description that Molly Weasley made it, and another user put that it appeared in GoF & DH, but the only thing I could find was in ch.5 of GoF it says Molly poured a "creamy sauce" out of her wand, no mention of "Bechamel" or any specific name. 14:39, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I confirmed an actor that was up for deletion, can you check out the page when you have time and make sure everything is correct, with the references and stuff. Thanks! Arnaud Adam --BachLynn23 15:00, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I've been going over some actor listings for hp movies, and I've found some conflicting information Arnaud Adam is credited as playing a ghost, and in an autograph picture he signed the picture of Unidentified ghost (II) (, but then Paul Marc Davis is shown to play Hogwarts ghost on that same site, and the picture he autographed is of the same ghost as Arnaud, but on Paul's IMDb site ( he's listed as playing Ghost of the Cavalier. Thoughts? --BachLynn23 20:03, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

When Voldemort casts that lightning spell with his wand in the Deathly Hallows trailer, do you think it's a rip-off of Star Wars' Force lightning? I like the lightning spell. It looks cool.

Hi Seth. I add a "behind the scenes" text about Baruffio with the french version which introduces another character. My english is very bad so could you please check this? Thank you. --{{SUBST:Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig}} 12:56, September 17, 2010 (UTC) (My sign still doesn't work here, sorry, it was created on the french wiki by my friend and coadmin, Nicolas, and it needs a template that isn't on your wiki... I don't know if someone can help me... User:Famini71)

Thank you for the check of the infos for Baruffio and his wife :) It's really better. Thank you too for searching for my signature. I will test it. --{{SUBST:Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig}} 12:30, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
So it's doesn't work. Before testing, I search again the pages on the french wiki. In fact there's 2 pages. fr:Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig contains a template with {{}} and fr:Utilisateur:Famini71/sig contains the text that you have pasted in autosig. So maybe it's necessary to create the other page?? --{{SUBST:Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig}} 12:35, September 18, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your help... I made some other tests but I don't think they are useful Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig and Utilisateur:Famini71/sig (and I create a redirection too) so feel free to delete them if you want. It works now, but I think it's because I change {{SUBST:Utilisateur:Famini71/autosig}} by {{SUBST:User:Famini71/autosig}} in my preferences and it seems to work either here and on french wikia even if I don't have redirections between User and Utilisateur. It's weird. It will be more easier for me now to post here so thank you very very very much. --   Famini71    talk    contribs    email   -- 20:03, August 4, 2020 (UTC)
I edit 2 files for my signature to fix a problem and now it's ok (here, but in France I now have a time difference). The 2 used files are User:Famini71/autosig and User:Famini71/sig. The 2 others are not useful. Nicolas will probably create the 2 files for him in the future too. --   Famini    talk    contribs   22:16, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, how do I change my signature, I have one I want to use that I made, but I don't know where to put it so it works as a signature, I'd like to use something like this:

where do I put it now so it works as a signature? --BachLynn23 13:58, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Arielle Brown

Hey, can you check out the article for Arielle Brown, I found 2 sites that say she was Seamus' yule ball partner, but it says on Hannah's page that she was (in the movie), so which one is right..... --BachLynn23 21:42, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

I've looked around the internet and I can't find anything in the books, movie or anywhere else on the internet that says Hannah went with Seamus, I don't know who added that to Hannah's page, but without a reference I think it should be changed to reflect the information we do have. Oh, and thanks for fixing my signature! it works now! yay! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 17:18, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

According to this website:, Jennifer Brown played her, but I don't know how accurate it is, on the other hand I can't find anything saying that Arielle played anything other then a Beauxbaton. Oh and btw, how do you archive a talk page? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 17:43, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

haha, I didn't realize that Lav's page says she was seamus' date too, he really got around, lol, according to the books Lav went to the ball with Seamus, so the fact that Arielle's character went with him should not be considered cannon, but BTS information. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 17:46, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

I think there needs to be a reference to the fact that we Americans call it soccer, or people will be continually adding it and we will be continually removing it. --JKochRavenclawcrest(Owl Me!) 20:57, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

What about maybe putting it on British terms article, along with an invisible note (so that american users don't change it constantly).... just a thought. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 21:42, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

verification articles

Two of the articles that need verification (harpie and cod), I've been scouring the internet/books/movies for the last 3 days and I can't find any reference to them in HP world. Harpy is a mythological creature, but I can't find it being referenced in any book movie game or sight. At what point do articles without references get deleted? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 23:55, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

Lavender Brown's parents

Hi Seth. Famini71 and I have discussed if Lavender Brown's parents should get their own article. Like Barufio's wife, they are mentioned in the french version only, and don´t contradict the original.

“She got a letter from home this morning,” Parvati whispered. “It’s her rabbit, Binky. He’s been killed by a fox.”

Elle a reçu une lettre de ses parents ce matin, murmura Parvati. Son lapin est mort, il a été tué par un renard.

If we can create it, we can also create Brown family. The Browns are pure-bloods, according to HP and me.--Rodolphus 12:46, September 23, 2010 (UTC)

How can i get more power on this site, like the ability to merge and delete articles. I dont dick around likes some other people, so what do u say. Do i need to accumulate more edits?

This page might interest you: Scouthibou on french wikia. It concerns an owl from Hogwarts who is not identified in the original version but has a name in the French version. The translator Ménard also add details.

  • "Obedient to Sirius’s wish of hearing about anything odd at Hogwarts, Harry sent him a letter by brown owl that night, explaining all about Mr. Crouch breaking into Snape’s office, and Moody and Snape’s conversation.".

Hey, I read in an interview that Clapham was where J.K. Rowling was living when she started writing harry potter, and I was going to add a BTS for it, but on another transcript on the Internet of the same interview it's spelled "clapping" junction, so I'm not sure if there is a difference or not. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:47, September 26, 2010 (UTC)

Bertie's beans

Hey, so on my talk page, a user posted a link from listing more flavours of the beans then we currently have, but aside from being on the mugglenet page, it doesn't list specifically where the flavours are from. I know you have edited heavily on this page, and I didn't want to make any changes without discussing with you, I'm not 100% sure just it just because they are on mugglenet makes them canon or not. Let me know what you think. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 14:03, September 27, 2010 (UTC)

Ok, on the article for Travers User_talk: keeps taking Tav MacDougall off saying that there is no official source for him playing Travers (that IMDb isn't official, which by the way, IMDb isn't sited as a reference for that anyways), I've given 3 more references, one being Tav's official actor site, but he keeps changing it back, maybe I'm wrong but if the actor has it on his working site, doesn't that make it official? Why would he lie. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 14:48, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Custard tart

Hey, I came across the article for custard tart, and upon some research, I can't find reference to a "custard tart" anywhere in the British or American books, maybe this was in the films? I've found other types of tarts, but not custard. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 23:09, October 8, 2010 (UTC)

Someone gave Lexicon as a reference/source for custard tart, but I checked out their list and although they have "custard tart" listed, it is one of the few foods listed without a source. I don't know where this wikia stands on using Lexicon as a source, but I know for me personally, unless it is something they have referenced where I can check it out, I'm not sure it should be used. Maybe it appeared in a movie or something. All I know is I've gone through 4 of the British books, and all 7 American books and can't find "custard tart", custard creams, rhubarb and custard crumble, but no custard tart. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 12:50, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Another question

Hey, the article Grffindor Quidditch Locker Room, do we know for sure each house had their own locker room? In book 3 it only calls it the "locker rooms". I wasn't sure if maybe in one of the video games it shows it as being specifically Grffindor's. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:15, October 9, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, question about titles, the article Swimsuit, ok, so in book 4 I didn't find any reference to Fleur's suit, but as far as what the boys wear it's referred to as "Swimming trunks", in book 6 while Harry is in Bob Ogden's memory, he's wearing a "bathing costume" which is the British term for Swimsuit or bathing suit. In lego Harry Potter, Moaning Myrtle is referred to as having a Swimsuit. So I wasn't sure what the article should be titled, or if there should be one article for swimming trunks and another for bathing costume with a BTS about the swimsuit in Lego? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:24, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

I like the idea, and I'm not sure about the British term for swimwear, I only have the British books 1 to 3 and 7, I don't have 4,5,6 so I can't check there, there has to be a British term encompassing all swim like suits..... --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 01:55, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

I've googled "swimwear" in Britain, and it seems to be used on a lot of commercial sales sites, also on Britain's Next Top Model there is a swimwear section, so I think that it may be a term used in both American and Britain. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 02:00, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

James Williams as Dennis Creevey

Hey, on the Deathly Hallows 2 article it says that James Williams will playing Dennis Creevey, and the reference for that is from's_Army but there is no reference from where it came from before that, and I can't find any source on the internet stating this. Any ideas/thoughts? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 17:59, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Cool, that's kinda what I figured. I found it while going through the list of "wanted pages", I'm trying to fix some of the broken pipes/links. Hey while I'm thinking of it User:, was asking me about why Green orbs were redirected, he said it was from the first video game, I told him I really don't know anything about the games, do you? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 18:26, October 12, 2010 (UTC)

Fang and Mrs. Norris

Hey, in the DH1 and DH2 articles, it lists the animals playing Fang and Mrs. Norris and the reference for it is that they have been in almost every movie, but so far Fang as been played by 3 different animal actors, same with Mrs. Norris, so unless there's a better reference, I would say listing the animal playing the parts is a bit premature, as they could easily have changed for this movie. What do you think? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 14:12, October 13, 2010 (UTC)

Bertie's beans

Hey, user sent me a link with new Bertie flavours (pickle) the problem is I'm not sure if we can consider it "canon" anymore because they've replaced HP Bertie Beans, with "BeanBoozled Jelly Beans" (see I mean personally my thought was (which I had told the user like 2 weeks ago) is that if they are no longer called HP Bertie Bott's beans, then if any new flavours that come out under "BeanBoozled" can't really count as flavours on the HP wiki site, but I could be wrong, what are your thoughts? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest(Accio!) 13:13, October 25, 2010 (UTC)

Verification help

The source for the Healing Sparkle article seems to be only from GameShark item modifier codes. None of the GameFAQs walkthroughs mention it otherwise, which makes me suspect it might be a dummy item or glitch item, and not from the actual gameplay. Have you ever heard of it? - Nick O'Demus 19:00, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

If it can be verified as an actual dummy item, then maybe as cut content, but the thing about GameShark item modifiers is that they can give you things as inventory items that at aren't actually items at all, such as abilities, conditions, status effects, etc. Some of these are little more than named glitches that will instantly crash your game or corrupt your save file if you access them. For all we know Healing Sparkle could refer to a graphics effect associated with using healing items or spells. - Nick O'Demus 20:49, October 26, 2010 (UTC)

Doctor Flitwick

A while back, you added a reference to the Filius Flitwick article that he was a doctor, and cited this page as the reference. Neither Butterfly the rabbit nor I could see a reference to "Doctor" or "Flitwick" on the page, though. Am I missing something, or is it possible the source image has been changed? - Nick O'Demus 22:36, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

I see Dr. Flitwick, but it appears that Jo wrote it by mistake, as she put a line through it. Jayden Matthews 22:45, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I see it now. But can this really be considered a basis for him being a doctor? For one, it's crossed out. Two, this draft is still using the "Draco Spungen" character name. And three, Ron refers to doctors in OotP as "Those Muggle nutters that cut people up". Is it alright to move this to BTS instead? - Nick O'Demus 22:57, November 2, 2010 (UTC)
Hm, I'd forgotten about Dr. Filibuster and Dr. Ubbly, but it still bothers me a bit that the line was struck (keeping in mind the Quirrel/Rivers thing). How about; removing "Doctor" from the opening paragraph, keeping it in the infobox under "Titles" with (possibly) added and the reference, and a BTS mention. - Nick O'Demus 05:57, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

I'm confused. In the first movie you see that Flitwick looks sort of like Dumbledore, but when I saw the picture you added of Lego Person Flitwick, I saw he had lucious brown hair, like mine (lol). Also, I saw him in the Order of the Pheonix movie in the bit where Fred and George Weasley fly away that Flitwick didn't look sort of like dumbdore. why is this? Inkcore is the COOLEST! Hello, thanks for the welcome but I am alrady a Wikia member, i was just too lazy too sign in...LOL (Pandas941)

Given we have articles like inanimate to animate transfiguration, do you think we should create an article on "inanimate to inanimate Transfigiration". I have asked Nick and he says you may know if the Trading Card game provides a better title.--Rodolphus 10:43, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Harry Potter Premiere Events

Hi Seth, This is Kacie from Wikia Entertainment. I wanted to let you know that Wikia is celebrating the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:Part 1 by giving away a trip for 4 to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, hotel and airfare included! The giveaway will launch on Harry Potter Wiki tomorrow-- we hope it will excite both old and new users and motivate everyone to participate on the wiki! Our friends over at will be helping us promote the wiki and the giveaway to the larger community of Harry Potter fans. :)

The Wizarding World giveaway runs from November 8-30. To enter the giveaway, Harry Potter fans must create an account and leave a comment on the giveaway page answering the question: "If you could spend one day in Hogwarts, what would you do?" Each comment counts as an entry, and one lucky muggle will be randomly selected from all eligible entries on December 1st. Since you're a Harry Potter expert, we need your help to come up with a special, tricky Harry Potter trivia question on the giveaway page- it will be another way for extra dedicated HP fans to enter the giveaway. Can you and the other admins help us come up with a tough trivia question (and the answer) by tomorrow?

We will also be enabling category galleries (which beautify category pages) and article comments (which allow users to comment about an article) for the giveaway and premiere. these tools have proven to facilitate conversation, engagement and collaboration on many of our wikis, including Twilight Saga Wiki and Glee Wiki. We are positive that they will help the giveaway run more smoothly, allow users to review and discuss the movie much more easily, and foster a heightened sense of community here. If you have problems with this, please let me know.

In collaboration with local San Francisco radio station 92.7 KREV, Wikia is also giving away a limited number of tickets to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in Redwood City on November 18. We hope to see Bay Area Harry Potter fanatics at the Redwood City AMC theater at 11:00pm on November 18 for a local Harry Potter meetup complete with games, raffles, prizes, costumes and picture-taking! If you or any Harry Potter Wikians you know are local to the San Francisco Bay Area, please come join us as our guests of honor! Thanks so much for all of your hard work on Harry Potter Wiki. Cheers---- Kacie@fandom (talk) 00:20, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

My computer got f--ked up and my ip adress must have changed. When i made edits i was often too lazy to log in so my contributions were put under the ip adress 72 something something. Now when i made an edit it only has 3 other contributions listed. I must have had hundreds listed, but now their gone. Uh yeah have all my edits under the old account been reverted or am i just being paranoid. Please tell me!!!!Donmax 19:24, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Oh God, Wikia have replaced all our talk pages with comment boxes. Did I miss something? Was this voted on? If not then it's totally unnaceptable. What about all our on going dicussions and votes? Didn't they think about that? Has anyone discussed the possibility of moving to a different host? I think it would be worth looking into, especially if Wikia continue to make descisions on behalf of the entire community. What do you think? Jayden Matthews 19:28, November 8, 2010 (UTC)

Hi Seth. Could you please check out this article and its talk page? Additionnally, have you overlooked my question about inanimate transfiguration?--Rodolphus 15:36, November 12, 2010 (UTC)
