Seth Cooper,

You're an admin so I was wondering if you could delete Adam Smithee since it doesn't really has anything to do with Harry Potter.

St Mungo's template

Hey, so I've been doing some rough edits for a Saint Mungo's template, do you think it should be split up like we did with the Ministry, one for floors and departments, and one for employees and patients? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 19:42, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

So while I was waiting for a response, I was looking through all the articles we have on St Mungo's, and realised that we don't really have many individual articles on the separate floors/areas of St Mungo's. Right now my rough draft has 3 levels, known areas with articles and such, employees, and patients, am I missing something with each floor? Do we have articles on areas I'm just not seeing? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 22:21, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, well for now I'm going to start it out as one, see what you think, I can split it up easy enough if it's too long.BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 22:53, January 24, 2011 (UTC)

I created the St Mungo's template, let me know what you think?BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 00:26, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Cool, I figure without having some sort of article for every ward, a separate template wouldn't be worth it. Should Bode's category be switched to perm st mungo's patients? I noticed that he is in just "patients", but he was on the janus ward and technically only "left" it cuz he died. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 00:36, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Personally I'm kind of surprised we don't already, I mean especially the "Dangerous" Dai Llewellyn Ward, we know quite a bit about that ward with Arthur staying in it. Once we have some more articles we can re-vamp the template, either go with 2 or expand the 1, whichever ends up looking better. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 01:24, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Hogwarts and Staff templates

I was noticing the Hogwarts template and Staff template seem, well, I"m not sure how to put this, for instance the Hogwarts temp has house crests, founders, the last 4 known heads of house listed, and house ghosts, but the staff also has founders, all known heads of house........If we have the founders listed on Hogwarts, do they really need to also be listed on staff? BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 01:27, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Abandoned caravan park

Hey, I was just wondering about the title of the Abandoned caravan park page. I think we should move it to an article titled "Caravan Park" because it is referred to as this in a description of one of the challenges in the game. I have a picture here. Thanks for any feedback, Texthawm (Owl Me) 23:16, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

Moved the page. --Texthawm (Owl Me) 23:55, January 26, 2011 (UTC)

Forest of Dean ruins

Oh, and I also found a description that refers to the Forest of Dean ruins as "The Ruins". That page doesn't have a conjecture tag, though. Once again, I have a picture. It's your call whether I should move it or not. Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 00:21, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I was just wondering, when it comes to categories, I know generally if an article is in a sub-category of something it then doesn't need to be in the main category, like with spells, charms, hexes, etc. But with the Hogwarts Students, there is a subcategory breaking the students down into each house or an Unknown house category, but they are still all in the main category too, so I was wondering is this an exception to the category/sub-category rule? BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 15:15, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

That's what I was thinking, just wanted to make sure :-) BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 15:44, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

blood status

Just curious, would it be useful to have a category for wizards with unknown blood status? Or is there already and I haven't seen it? There seems to be quite a few individuals whose actual blood status is only guessed or unknown. BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 19:36, January 27, 2011 (UTC)

Classrooms and dormitories, again.

Did you overlook my question that is now in your archive?

I´ve created a Slytherin dormitory article. And noticed that nummerous classroom articles (fifth floor classrom, classrooms 7B,7C,6A,1A,1C,1D,1E) currently don´t have images. Unfortunatelly, taking screenshots doesn´t work on my computer. Should we create an article for the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw dormitories? What do you think about adding an image of the Lego Ravenclaw door knocker until the last film is released?

Thank you.--Rodolphus 18:01, January 28, 2011 (UTC)

There is a video walkthrough on youtoube, but I don´t remember the relevant part anymore.--Rodolphus 15:12, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

I don´t want to annoy you, but have yoú forgotten it?--Rodolphus 21:07, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering what programme you use to take screenshots of the video games and stuff. Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 15:35, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

Cool, thanks. I usually just look for walkthrough videos on Youtube, like you said. BachLynn recommended a programme called Jing, and it works pretty well. You can specify the region you want to capture with that programme, instead of using Prnt Scrn and having to paste it into Paint, then cropping it. You can download it here if you're interested, it's free. I'm pretty sure I have a Game Boy emulator somewhere on my computer Thanks again, Texthawm (Owl Me) 23:25, January 29, 2011 (UTC)

Categories with only 1 name

Hey, I noticed a few days ago you were deleting births and death year categories that only had one individual, I found another one 1932 deaths only has one name in the category. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 00:13, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Another category with only one name "1715 births"............BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 02:05, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Fake Page

A user created a page called (C.A.U.L.D.R.O.N.). I think this page is a fan creation but I don't know for sure. The user also added the page to Albus Dumbledore and London. The edit on Dumbledore's page messed up the code on the infobox. The user was Force1000. I undid the edits on the two pages but I don't know if he/she edited other pages.KatBlueDog Hey there! 05:16, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I'm not sure who's responsible for changing the layout guide, whether it's admins, bureaucrats, whoever. But I proposed a change to it here. Userpage Header

Hi. I was just wondering how you make that header that's on your userpage that says "Contributions, Edit Count, Moves ..." and so on. If it's too complicated to explain I understand. Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 02:10, February 1, 2011 (UTC)

P.S. I just want to thank you for answering all my questions. I probably ask a lot, lol. You also get a lot of questions from other users. I give you a lot of credit, it must be hard being an admin.

Black family tree

Do you know if this character andd other distaff members appear on the Black family tree? Perhaps you confirm it with an image or remove it. No ome has answered on the tal page yet. Thanks.--Rodolphus 12:22, February 1, 2011 (UTC)

RE:RE:Userpage Header

Yeah, I guess it does come with the job. It still looks like a lot of work, though. Anyway, about the header, I think I got it, I just want to add an image, but I already hit my maximum of three. I'd really appreciate it if you could delete these images:

Thanks a lot, Texthawm (Owl Me) 20:46, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

daily prophet template

Hey, I noticed that there are a lot more articles on the daily prophet template, I was wondering, do you think it's long enough now to warrant splitting the articles from the employee's?BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 14:22, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Here's the problem with that, right now, most of the templates I made (with the exception of the class subjects) I embedded a code for the "hide" option, but for some reason, you can only see the [hide] (top right corner of the templates) when viewing in "monobook", when you view them in the new wikia look, they aren't there, so there must be something about the new look that doesn't agree or isn't compatible with the code I used. Do any of the other admin's know anything about this? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 22:56, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Healing station

Hi. I noticed that in the Philosopher's Stone video game for GBC there's a shop on Diagon Alley where you get healed when you "die". I don't believe there's an article on it. I want to create one, but there's no sign for the shop, so I don't know the name. Upon talking to the healer there, she says, "Welcome to the healing station, although I can see you are not injured". I was wondering what I should call the article (healing station isn't capitalized). Any help? Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 21:35, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the clean-up of the page I accidentally created in the main article space! -- CocoaZen 19:47, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

RE: RE: Healing station

Cool, thanks for the info about pressing "Select". So, where do you think we should move the article? --Texthawm (Owl Me) 23:29, February 6, 2011 (UTC)

Yes check.svg Done I was wondering, does the same healer own the shop in Chamber of Secrets as in Philosopher's Stone? --Texthawm (Owl Me) 00:22, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hospital Wing stores

Can I ask why you reverted my edits and redirect regarding this page? Any other time, people moan at me about using capitals in articles titles that merely describe the room. After all, Hospital Wing has been changed to Hospital wing, and is referred to as hospital wing when not at the beginning of a sentence.--Jpkilleen 15:47, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Quidditch Captains

Hey, I've noticed that there are quite a few "non" Hogwarts Quidditch captains, but the Hogwarts Quidditch Captain article only covers the captains for Hogwarts teams, should we amend that article to encompass other team's Captains as well, or create a new article? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 20:56, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, once the new article is created should the Hogwarts Quidditch Captain be redirected to the new article, or remain? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 21:10, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Deathly Hallows: Part 1 Game Soundtrack

Hi. I was just wondering, do you think the soundtrack of the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 game deserves an article? The reason I ask is I'm pretty sure it wasn't officially released, but it is available for download on the game's official website. The site refers to James Hannigan's (the composer's) music as the "soundtrack" of the game. Also, Hannigan's website does list songs from the game, but it only lists three. Is it possible there are only three songs? I don't know. I was just wondering if there should be an article on it. Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 14:17, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I was watching Behind the Magic of Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and I noticed that 45 seconds into that video we get a pretty good look of two portraits hung in Malfoy Manor. I'd be happy to create articles on them, but I'm just checking with you to make sure that we don't know who those individuals are. If we don't know who they are, I'll just create an "Unidentified portrait in Malfoy Manor (I)" article on them, or something similar. If we do know who they are, then...yeah we know who they are. So, I was wondering, do we know, and am I just missing something? Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 01:57, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Wizarding Examinations Authority

Hey Seth, while editing through some of the unidentified individuals, I came across the articles about the Wizarding Examinations Authority examiners, and realised that neither the Authority or the examiners are incorporated into any of the MoM navigation boxes, not sure where to put them? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 02:39, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Yes check.svg Done :-) Thanks! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 19:33, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Cool, I'll get started on creating those articles. Unfortunately, I do not have Harry Potter Film Wizardry. If there is more detail on the portraits in there, though, I'm sure someone will move the articles, or improve them. :) Thanks, Texthawm (Owl Me) 21:01, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Wikia Council

Did you get an email about a community Wikia Community Council online meeting tonight?--BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 21:45, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, well I wasn't sure if I got the invite cuz I'm an admin on a Recipes wikia, or because I've Beta tested. I was curious, I'd really like to be an admin on here at some point, but I know you guys only need a certain amount of active admin's at a time, and was wondering how all that worked? --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 23:14, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

So I just finished with the first Wikia Community Council meeting, and apparently, a small group of people have been chosen for it, it's to talk about changes, new things, problems, etc. We'll get to test new features as they come out. It's going to meet once a month, and will have a wikia page I'll be a part of to communicate between meetings. So, that being said, if there is anything you would like me to bring to a meeting, problems you've had, ideas, etc. Please let me know. They've started this as a trial, a way to communicate more with the members of wikia. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 02:16, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yea, I figured you guys were full up on admin's right now, but as soon as there's an opening I'm all for it ;-) !!! This wikia will definitely be well represented. I was thinking of maybe creating some sort of new forum page, or discussion page for us where I can let you guys know what's going on in the meetings, and you guys can let me know if there's stuff you want brought up. It was a great meeting last night, it's a relatively small group. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 21:42, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

Magical Lego Machines

Could you take a look at this one? I haven't played the game, so I'm not sure what to take of it, but I hardly think this could be considered "in-universe". I also don't know if the names they're using are official or conjectural. Thanks, and Happy Birthday. : ) - Nick O'Demus 04:33, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

The Parseltongue ones are very few, I think there was one you had to talk to before you could get down into the slytherin dungeon, that's the only one I can remember off the top of my head without going through the game. The runes ones are just locked cabinets, I'm sort of with you, on rather or not they deserve articles. At the very least they shouldn't be called "machines" because they aren't machines. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.jpg(Accio!) 23:01, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Seth...Do you want to contribute to my Potterpedia you don't have to but its just we have 2 members (excluding me). And by the way that Potterpedia link will teleport you right to the Lord Voldemort page, theres a cool pic on it.

Okey Dokey! :)

Hi Seth,

I'm on the wikia staff and wanted to reach out. With Deathly Hallows 2 approaching, we'd like to help engage users on the wiki. Among some of our internal thoughts for doing this are:

  • Giving the main page a new background. Just to change things up a bit and keep the look fresh.
  • Changing the Quote of the Week to a random quote generator that will automatically keep the quotes updated.
  • Categorising all pages. Using and/or deleting some of the 1,000 photos that are not being used.
  • Adding more content to the Daily Prophet News page (such as the recently released HP DH 2 online game).
  • Reaching out to more affiliates to get more links set up which will help with Google ranks and bring more traffic to the wiki.
  • Creating a Deathly Hallows 2 Reviewer page and perhaps another giveaway contest.
  • Finally, we'd love you and the other admis to start thinking of ways to keep the wiki active post final film. We can all hopefully brainstorm on this in the near future.

We hope you and the other admins (who I am also contacting) will be receptive to some of this. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks, Bchwood 01:26, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Hogwarts Roleplay Wiki

Hey Seth! So I've been helping *Luna with her Hogwarts Roleplay Wiki for the last week or so, and it's still in the very early stages, and I know you are busy with this wiki, but I was wondering if when you come across users who seem more interested in Fanon and creating their own HP characters if you could direct them to our site. People can create their own characters, multiple characters, attend classes, teach classes. It's not an entire free for all, we do have some policies in order to keep everything flowing. Thanks bunches! Cheers! --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.png(Accio!) 22:45, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your response, glad you all are receptive to some tweaks. Please let me know your thoughts on the following ideas:

-Using a random quote generator on the main page to make it's never blank.

-Main page slider changes. Featuring DH Part 2 with a link. Changing some or all of the other pictures/links. Maybe include the Battle of Hogwarts, Dumbledore, a look back at the original book. I'm happy to work on updating the slider if you all can give me some direction.

-New background image- how about putting an image of Voldemort on the left column and Harry on the right, in battle poses?

-Putting a movie countdown on the Deathly Hallows Part 2 page.

Bchwood 19:58, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Seth,

Here's the new background image i am proposing. Grunny and Cav are checking it out as well.

Let me know your thoughts.

Bchwood 21:49, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Seth. I'm not sure if only admins can edit the "Daily Prophet News" section of the Main Page or not, so I figured I'd come to you. I just have two suggestions: First, the dates are M/D/Y, but the entire wiki uses D/M/Y. Shouldn't it be consistent? Also, we could add the release of the Ultimate Editions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which is 14 June, 2011. (Sources: OotP and HBP) Just some suggestions! --Texthawm Broadcast2.jpg 22:06, March 12, 2011 (UTC)

Check it out now, see if you this better, it's the only two images of them that work together.

Bchwood 03:47, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

No, thank you! Anyway, I have another question. (Yes I ask a lot of questions). In the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game, you can earn badges in Quidditch, the Potions Club, and the Duelling Clubs. (I think that's all). So, I was just wondering, are these badges canon, and does each badge deserve its own article? My guess is yes, they are canon, but I'd just like to check with you. Thanks, Texthawm Broadcast2.jpg 13:44, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

P.S. An example of a badge would be: The "Speedy Brewer" badge: Make a potion in the Potions Club in under 30 seconds. --Texthawm Broadcast2.jpg 13:44, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Hate to bother you, but I just noticed an error in the News. The DVD release of Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is 15 April, not 5 April. Also, I have another suggestion. Should we add the UK release of the DVD, which is 11 April? --Texthawm Broadcast2.jpg 16:31, March 13, 2011 (UTC)
Cool, I'll get going on creating articles on them. :) --Texthawm Broadcast2.jpg 18:25, March 13, 2011 (UTC)

Hi Seth,

Just wanted to check in and make sure the current changes are to your satisfaction. Also, in an effort to make more use of our Facebook forum, we are thinking it would be cool to post a trivia game with links to the respective page with the answer on the wiki (or just make people look for the answers on their own). This way we are taking advantage of the encyclopdic nature of the wiki.

Let me know.

Do you know about the hogwarts role play site?Herbologyman 21:47, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Yea, it's really taking off, although there's still soooo much to do to make sure everything is well.....constructed properly. We definitely have ministry openings. We also are on Twitter and Face book now for getting our name out there. We are working out a way to actually play Quidditch matches right now which is going to be way cool, I'm also working out a way for duelling. The Quidditch is going to take some more recruiting though as we don't have enough "students" yet. I also need to get the polices and general game play rules set in stone, but so far I'm really proud of how it's coming along! Well, there's a few ways to go about it, if you definitely don't want to be a student, and want to start out as an adult, I'd work up a character for it, and contact User:Head.boy and see exactly which Ministry positions he needs filled right now. If you wanted to have a student character, there's a link to the sorting questions on the main page (just click the sorting hat). --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.png(Accio!) 00:43, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

As far as your characters name and background, that's totally up to you to create, our only policy on that is that you don't use characters from the books, they need to be original. For me I try to keep my BachLynn23 page as a sort of "out of gameplay" area, and have a page created for Alexandria Norton, who is Headmaster, Head of Gryffindor House and astronomy Professor. That is however up to you, as some of the users just use their user page for their in game play roles also. It's still all a bit more chaotic then I would like right now. So if you have any suggestions regarding policies or what not I would love your feed back. As far as what part of the Ministry you work in, contact Head.Boy on that one cuz I haven't been keeping up with the Ministry positions. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.png(Accio!) 00:57, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Oh and I meant to tell you a week ago, Wikia is beta testing a potential new chat for Wikia, right now it's being Beta Tested on Muppet wiki, you should check it out at some point, so if you have any feed back on it, and how you guys would utilise it on the Harry Potter wiki so I can bring the ideas, comments, questions etc to Community Council. --BachLynnGryffindorcrest.png(Accio!) 00:59, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

Yay I've finally watched Deathly Hallows Part 1 :-) --BachLynn(Send an Owl!) 23:30, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

Well aside from some of the parts they left out, overall I liked it, I really wished they had played up Kreacher's bit a little more, I really like how in the books his character evolves into a nicer being. It was a bit of a pain watching with my husband though, who hasn't read the books, as there are a few continuity issues, so I was constantly answering questions about horcruxes and such, lol! --BachLynn(Send an Owl!) 23:43, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

OMG, I totally forgot about that! Yea, I mean if you watch the films and try and think of them as "stand alone" from the books they are amazing, but sometimes I can get caught up in the details, like in Half-Blood when they burnt the Weasley home, man that irked me. Well and my husband didn't even understand why Harry was carrying around a broken piece of mirror, and not having the pouch so all his stuff was just whereever (broken wand, mirror, snitch, etc), and Hermione's bag was so big there's no way she stuffed it in her sock, although the torture scene with her was really good, and Dean Thomas wasn't there too, and Pius was at the meeting, and they skipped Harry's birthday, so Jerry was confused because he thought that it was odd that all that beginning stuff (harry getting to the burrow, getting the objects of dumbledore's and the wedding) happened the same day. Oh AND no picture of Phineas, so how on earth would Snape have known where to send the sword........but yea, it was good, can't wait till 2 comes out. lol. --BachLynn(Send an Owl!) 01:10, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Spoiler alert

I think we should add a Spoiler Alert to the home page of the Harry Potter wikia and also create a Spoiler Alert Template that is to be used on the heading of every important page like the featured article and the point me templates. That was the readers who are new to the wikia can know if there is a spoiler because Spoilers are annoying because once you start reading you can't stop but at the same time you don't want to spoilt everything so again it will be good to have a spoiler alert. RE: Deletion

I deleted it because he asked me repeatedly to, but I see what you mean and don't have any problem with it being restored. However, this does bring up an interesting point. I don't think we have any policy regarding theme park-related people. I don't know much about it, but I would assume they would do some reenactment-type activities that would have actors in them, just as there are play versions of other books/movies. Exhibits, also might be deserving of an article. It would be nice to have a policy regarding this kind of thing.--Matoro183 (Talk) 19:16, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

For the record, I don't believe the photo he uploaded constitiutes adequate proof of his involvement in the films. He's been asked repeatedly to provide information regarding his scenes so that his claim may be verified, but he has not done so. Also, he is now claiming that his family is receiving hate mail because of this issue. I find this claim highly dubious. Why on earth would anyone send hate mail over something so ridiculous? More to the point how would anyone even know how to contact his family? Although I agree we should conclude the debate first, I do believe we should delete the article. Classrooms 6A and 6B

I have made a review of all the video games and I noticed that you created the page Classroom 6B, as the Ancient Runes classroom. However, the A.R. classroom is actually Classroom 6A, according to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (video game) (PS2 version). I have tried to invert 6A and 6B, but could you make sure there are no more mistakes (other pages linking to Classroom 6B as the A.R.classroom, or other wrong mentions)? Is it over?

Is it? I sure hope so. Johnpaul has said that he is leaving the wiki, which, I think, is for the best. At any rate, there can be no more doubt about his "participation" in the films. In Half-Blood Prince he says he was the first Death Eater to leave Ollivanders with Greyback, and that he was one of the masked Death Eaters to exit the Vanishing Cabinet with Bellatrix. These scenes, he says, were filmed in Gloucester. In truth they were both filmed at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire. As for Deathly Hallows, he says he was one of the masked Death Eaters to have fought in the aerial battle over Little Whining, and that he was the Death Eater seen standing outside Grimmauld Place in the trailer. As I pointed out in my comments on the talk page of his article there were no actual Death Eaters involved in that scene. They were all created digitally and added in post-production. And the Death Eater in question was played by Paul Khanna. Jayden Matthews 21:25, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Amortality

You said that God "always existed and is timeless (for He already existed before the creation of the Universe and, presumably, time itself). Thus, He always was, and was never born." This part, I absolutely agree with. After that, it looks to me like you switched from a religious to a non-religious subject matter b/c God works differently than that. And I am afraid I can do no other than to respectfully dismiss that part of the talk post as it goes against my religion. It's a very limited approach to the limitless being that is God. I do not mean to offend you by saying this.

  1. A couple days ago, it appeared to be agreed by consensus that the page about God did not need to exist and was therefore deleted. Did something change?
  2. If I am completely misunderstanding the point of the topic of discussion, and it was somehow not meant to be taken from a religious sense or point of view, please let me know, and I hereby apologise in advance. Though I would like to know how else to take it.

Entrance Courtyard

Hi Seth! An unregistred user ( is causing trouble in the Entrance Courtyard article. He/She wants to delete it saying that it is non-canon and refuses to sign his/her comments. Could you solve the problem in Talk:Entrance Courtyard, please? Thanks, Ravenclawcrest.jpgThe Evening Prophet Ravenclawcrest.jpg (Owl Post) 14:47, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Hello. First of all, your concern for the feelings of others is duely noted. However, I will swear and raise my tone whenever and wherever I desire. I have read your "canon" policy, and, frankly, it's garbage! Everything that happens in the films is possible within the Harry Potter universe, therefore, it must all be canon. Including the "burning of the Burrow", as Rowling doesn't say it didn't happen. Now, as for the "Entrance Courtyard". In the films it is connected to the Entrance Hall, so how on earth can you say it is located elswhere? Same with the viaduct. As for Bellatrix, unless your suggesting that Harry went temporarily blind and deaf I don't see how you can possible reconcile the book with the film on this matter. Bellatrix does not taunt Dumbledore, Greyback does. Bellatrix does not cast the Dark Mark, Gibbon does. Bellatrix does not burn Hagrid's hut down, Rowle does. You say she observes these events, but does not participate? Even the films don't support this theory. What gives you the licence to invent these things, or to pick and choose which inconsistencies are canon and which are not? According to your policy the Killing Curse can be blue as well as green, because Rowling doesn't say otherwise. And you consider the Lego video game canon? I don't even know where to start with that. I'm pretty sure that Rowling didn't envision her characters being made out of plastic. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

Duely noted, but you'll forgive me if I do not tremble in fear at the thought of "administrative action". Your right I don't agree with your canon policy, it is a contrived, bloated, self contradicting mess. The courtyard is NEVER shown to be ANYWHERE other than outside the entrance hall. The books make it perfectly clear that there is no courtyard outside the entrance hall. It is a DIRECT CONTRADICTION. Instead of simply acknowledging this you say the courtyard exists but is located somewhere other than the place that it is always shown to be! Don't you see how stupid that sounds? As for Bellatrix you also say she witnessed Hagrid's hut being burned down. You don't think Harry might have acknowledged her Presence? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs).

Your attidue is regretabble. Unfortunately I have plenty more to say on this matter, so you'll just have to bear with me. Another example, perhaps. In the movie the trio apparate to Shaftesbury Avenue rather than Tottenham Court Road as in the book. According to your canon policy we must "disregard the first statement" as it contradicts the book. Thefore according to your policy they apparated to Tottenham Court Road before travelling to Shaftesbury Avenue and then going back to Tottenham Court Road. JK doesn't say it didn't happen so it did. "An omission is not a statement", afterall!

I'm glad to hear it. I'll adress this to both you and Nick, if you don't mind? As I dislike having the same conversation twice. I won't deny "gaming the system to prove a point". That's exactly what I was doing, and I'm glad my point was sucessfully made. I'll assume that the increased level of communication between us means that you are begining to see things my way. Now, onto the buisiness at hand. Earlier, you said that Bellatrix's precense in the grounds can be explained by the fact that Harry or the "narrator" (whoever that is) simply didn't notice her. But then who is to say that the same doesn't hold true for her precense atop the Astronomy Tower? Who decides what constitutes "common sense"? 16:16, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

I'm sorry but that argument is entirely relative. Who's to say she wasn't skulking around in the shadows, or by the doorway? The truth is the "narrator" as you call her, is Rowling herself. These are her words. If she had wanted Bellatrix to be involved in that scene she would have written her into it. She didn't, so she wasn't. More to the point, the "narrator" does give the number of people in the grounds at the time of Hagrid's hut being burned down. The following quotes should clarify this issue.

"Harry flew across the Entrance Hall and out into the dark grounds: he could just make out three figures racing across the lawn heading for the gates beyond which they could Dissaparate - by the looks of them, the huge blond Death Eater and, some way ahead of him, Snape and Malfoy."
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Bear in mind that at this point Harry has already passed the Carrows on the stairs, Yaxley and Greyback were incapacitated and Gibbon was dead.

"Have you forgotten our orders? Potter belongs to the Dark Lord - we are to leave him! Go! Go!
And Harry felt the grounder shudder under his face as the brother and sister and the enormous Death Eater obeyed, running towards the gates.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

At this point Draco has already Dissaparated.

As you can see there can be no more doubt as to wether or not Bellatrix was there. She wasn't. I apologise for my past "gaming" but I felt I wasn't being listned to. And I'll concede that you were right about the courtyard. It is mentioned in the books as a place where Hermione likes to sit and read, but I think the name should be changed to omit the "entrance" bit. Thank you for listening. 13:32, May 24, 2011 (UTC)

I don't wish to cause any offence here, but it sounds like you're clutching at very thin straws in a desperate attempt to justify a highly flawed policy. You are actually suggesting that there is an invisible character that follows Harry around narrating his life? And that whenever the films diverge from the books it can be chalked up to the fact that this individual was looking the other way at the time? Even if true (which I doubt) you cannot deny from the quotes I provided that Bellatrix cannot have watch Hagrid's hut being torched. The only remaining explanation is that Bellatrix Lestrange: the most prominent and recognisable Death Eater entered Hogwarts castle, unbenknownst to her own collegues and then proceded to watch the battle unfold from the shadows, but not participate. She then fled the castle, managed to reach the gates and Dissaparate before Snape or Malfoy despite the fact that they had a head start, and the fact that she decided to stop and smash up the Great Hall before she left. I think you know as well as I do that she was not there! Please, please stop defending this ridiculous position. Also can you please change the date of Voldemort's job application. I've explained on the talk page that it is not correct, but the article is protected. Thanks. 09:40, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Forgive me, but I have a low tolerence for stupidity of this magnitude. As for my supposed "preoccupation". I stumbled upon this wiki in passing, and have spent less than an hour in total on here talking with you. Not what I'd call a preoccupation, but hey. I thought the whole point of this thing is to document information as acurately as possible, but maybe i'm wrong. Seeing as you avoided answearing my preivious point i'll assume you where unable to come up with an adequate response. Just as well, perhaps, as your explenations have become increasingly outlandish and less likely. The fact remains that Bellatrix could not have witnessed Hagrid's hut being torched, unless she was invisible at the time and that is why Snape didn't acknowledge her when ordering the Carrows and Rowle to flee. If you wish to say that Bellatrix snuck into Hogwarts unnoticed by all including her own collegues, followed her fellow Death Eaters around the castle without being seen by anyone and without joining in the battle, trashed the Great Hall and then vanished into thin air, so be it, but according to your canon policy the rest must go. Do you really expect Rowling to have the forseight to counteract your absurd policy by explicitly saying which characters are not present in every single page of her books? Thank you for fixing Riddle's article, but the date didn't need to be removed entirely, just changed to 1955, the correct date. Thank you. 17:11, May 25,

2011 (UTC)

I don't doubt your passion, but I beleive your intentions are misguided, and would be better served on documenting the books more accurately. That's just my opinion, however. The castle was under greatly increased protection at the begining of the year, which included, if my memomry serves me correctly, the sealing of all the secret passages. I'm not sure what you mean by "flown". To flee? Or literally to fly? As Hermione says: one cannot simply fly in or out of Hogwarts. Which is why the Death Eaters had to cross the threshold of the gates before Dissaparating. The Vanishing Cabinet had already been secured by the Order, which means the only way for her to have exited the castle is the same way as her fellows did: the front door! And no, she could not have gone ahead of the others because Snape, as a Hogwarts teacher was the only one who could unlock the enchanted gates for them. Reading your responses I cannot help but remeber what you said to me earlier about "common sense decisions". Surely you can now see that this is one of those occasions where the book and the film simply don't mesh.

That wouldn't make a whole lot of sense now, would it? Remeber that Tonks tells Harry that Dumbledore had bewitched the gates himslf. She wasn't able to let Harry in herself, they had to wait for Snape to come down from the feast to unlock them. I don't think Dumbledore would have made the mistake of making the main entrance of the school accesible to Death Eaters, do you? Snape orders Draco to "run" but there is no mention of him passing beyond the gates. If any of the other Death Eaters had been able to open them then why did they stand around waiting for Snape to finish with Harry rather than make their escape? This discussion has become quite speculative on both our parts, however the simply truth is - the facts do not allow Bellatrix to be present! 07:29, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

Seth, if you poke hard enough you will find holes. If anyone could have opened the gates from the inside then why couldn't Draco have let the Death Eaters in that way? Tonks intended Hagrid to get her message and recieve Harry. He certainately wasn't learned in the magical arts, he could barely perform the most simple spells. It's very obvious that the gates were enchanted so that only a staff member could unlock them. Remember that Dumbledore knew Draco was a Death Eater. Do you really think he would gamble with his students lives by allowing the FRONT GATES to be opened by anyone? Your second point is so ridiculous I'm not sure whether or not to answear. Harry was focused on finding his wand at the time, and the roaring fire could have drowned out the sound of the gates being opened. Are you honestly saying that if Harry had heard the gates opening he wouldn't have bothered looking for Snape? The signiture whip-like crack of dissaparition would also have alerted him to Snape's departure, but he still looked to see if he was there because he desperately wanted to catch him. There is nothing in the text to suggest the Death Eaters had already fled, as Harry's animosity was focused at Snape. I don't know why you are arguing this so hard. It's shockingly obvious the Bellatrix was not present, so please, just concede.

You're right, it's highly speculative, and very unlikely, seeing as Dumbledore knew he was dying. Unless your suggesting he didn't care about any other residents of the castle, I don't think he would have compromised their safety. The rest of the castle's protections remained intact so I don't see why the gate would be any different. There is no mention of the delegation arriving at all, so according to you this must that they just appeared in the castle without explenation. Again, you're expecting Rowling to over-explain every last miniscule detail to satisy your absurd policy. We're getting a bit off-topic here. This discussion is supposed to be about Bellatrix. I have provided ample evidence, including quotes from the book to demostrate that she could not have participated in the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. No doubt you will say that could still have smashed up the Great Hall. What then? Maybe she hid under a table and waited for everything to calm down before sneaking out of the castle. And you were lecturing me about common sense! 17:16, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

Apologies. I must have skipped over that part. It is possible as Scrimgeour had the full force of the Ministry behind him that he was able to open the gates himself, or that another staff member opened them for him without McGonagall's knowledge (unlikely, I know). I assumed that after Voldemort seized control of the Ministry, and thus the school he removed the protections himself as they were no longer necessary (being designed to keep the Death Eaters out). Personally I find it unlikely that the school's entire defences would have vanished upon the death of Dumbledore, and if they had Voldemort would no doubt have wanted to launch a renewed assault upon the castle in order to kill Harry. This is pure speculation on my part, however. I'll concede that Bellatrix could have fled the castle independently of Snape. If she did, however (as I have proven without a doubt) she could not have witnessed Hagrid's hut being torched. If you genuinely beleive that she entered the castle, assumed the role of lookout rather than participate in the battle herself, used a secret shortcut to gain a vast head start on the others, smashed up the Great Hall, fled without a backwards glance and did all this without being seen by anyone... fine. I wonder what Rowling would make of it. And I doubt you'll find a single Harry Potter fan that would agree with you.

I agree it's impossible to prove otherwise. I do not agree that it actually happened, however. If that is the view point that you wish to put forward then I will oppose you formally on the talk-page, using the argument that as Bellatrix's role in the scene is clearly a replacement/composite of Rowle, Gibbon and Yaxley it should be disregarded for the same reason that the Entrance Hall is considered the place where Trelawney is sacked not the Courtyard, because one is clearly a replacement of the other (aka: a "common sense decision"). I would also argue that neither the book nor the film supports the notion of her entering the castle without taking part in the battle. However, if both of us know where the other stands on this matter the I suggest we move this discussion to a formal domain so that the community may interject their opinions. BTW you were absoloutley right about the gates. The must have already been open, otherwise Snape would surely have been savaged by Buckbeak whilst attempting to unlock them.

PS: The quote at the start of the paragraph needs to be removed, as we both agree that she was not atop the Astronomy Tower when Dumbledore died.

I see you´re working on the Portrait articles (great job oncee again) What do you think should we do with the Lego Harry Potter?

As far as I can remember:

  • a portrait of Dominique Maestro in the Gryffindor common room.
  • a portrait of the unidentified Animagus in the troll level.
  • a portrait of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in the Quidditch levels.
  • a Portrait of an unidentified Hufflepuff student (needed when you learn the polyjuice potion)
  • the Hufflepuff still-life painting.

And I´m sure I´ve forgotten some.--Rodolphus 14:51, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

I knew thee was a Hufflepuff Portrait article. Unfortunately, taking screenshots doesn´t work while playing the game for some reason, so I can´t help you. Take the time you need.--Rodolphus 17:14, May 23, 2011 (UTC)

Hey I have a question about the Triwizard Tournament can you answer it?Zapster1 21:12, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Are the tasks always the same or do they change for every tournament?Zapster1 21:43, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Cool thanks I needed to know because on a harry potter roleplay site I'm hosting the tournament and I needed to know if I should change the tasks thanks.Zapster1 22:14, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

Seamus Finnegan

Just continued watching the video game walkthrough for gbc. During the potions lesson, a Gryffindor tells Harry that his brother told him that something good happpens if you shake a potion. The same obe is seen in Harry's dormitory. As Dean grew up with muggles, can we conclude that this Seamus and create an article Seamus Finnegan's brother?--Rodolphus 19:21, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

Ok. Do you think any other unidentified student from the game deserves an article?--Rodolphus 07:46, May 28, 2011 (UTC)
