A couple of things

Hi! Welcome to the HP Wiki. I see you're off to a good start here, and we can always use dedicated editors. Just a couple of things, though. If you come across an obviously Fanon character, such as Arianna Malfoy, please put a {{delete}} tag on it to allow an admin such as myself to delete it rather than redirecting it to the family name. Also, when creating a disambiguation page, place the {{disambig}} template at the top of the page to allow it to be categorised in the Disambiguation category. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Keep up the good work! - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 08:33, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for the welcome message and for the helpful advice! When I got your message, I noticed the alert box said, "You have owl." Perhaps that should be changed to "an owl" in the template. Maybe you could pass my suggestion on to someone who knows how to muck with the gears of this site (if you're not such a person yourself :). -Starstuff 15:46, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I passed the comment up to one of our Bureaucrats, John Reaves. We used to have a picture of an owl delivering a letter in the bar as well. It might need recoding since Wikia have upgraded all wikis to new MediaWiki software, but hopefully John will know. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 20:29, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I see you blanked your user page and removed yourself from the active users list. I hope you're not leaving since we need good editors, and you've only been here for a short time. Hopefully, you've not been discouraged from editing by something that has been done here the wiki, and will hopefully resuming editing here. However, if you are leaving us for good, thank you for your contributions, and best of luck. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 13:34, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Surely! The more that help the faster it'll go. Hopefully I'll have a chance to continue haha. -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 20:47, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Where's that trusty allpages function so that I don't have to go rooting through categories to find character articles? Ah, there it is. :) -Starstuff 21:02, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Refering to your comments on DarkJedi613's talk pages ... Category:Individuals by species probably is better that race, I just wasn't sure which sounded better, or which was more "canonical". As for Werewolves and Ghosts ... I think they should be in Non-Humans, so I suggest placing them in both Humans and Non-Humans since they technically fit both descriptions. Btw, good work on categorising the genders - excellent start! - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network)

I've finished sorting N-Z by gender. Freakatone is working on A-M, so if you or DarkJedi want to pitch in, that's where I'd recommend starting. I couldn't determine the gender of the following characters: Ragmar Dorkins, Ogg, Petrova Porskoff, S. Capper, Savage, Troy, Volkov, Vulchanov, Zograf. -Starstuff 00:30, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Lots of help would definately be appreciated!!! It's a very slow-going If either you, DarkJedi, or Cavalier could help, that would be great. --Freakatone 00:33, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
What letter are you on? I'll start from M and work backwards, and we can meet in the middle. -Starstuff 00:37, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Excellent work! As for the gender of some of the characters - Volkov, Vulchanov and Zograf are all represented as male in the Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup game. Petrova is usually a female Russian name if I remember correctly (I may be mistaken), and I think Ogg was refered to as a man ... the HP Lexicon lists him as male at any rate. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 07:10, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

It appears that we have finished adding the categorations. Well done! There were a few characters that I could not get categorized, though... they are Blenheim Stalk, Bradley, Connolly, and Dimitrov. Thats pretty much it, and again, a job well done by you! :) --Freakatone

I'm glad to see that we've tackled this part of the recategorization drive. Thanks for helping out! The other characters I couldn't categorize by gender were Mordicus Egg, Moran, Levski, K. Bundy, J. Dorny, and Ivanova. -Starstuff 00:34, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Re: Categories

Thanks for the info, I'll start at A. --Freakatone 23:15, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Hello, noticed that you got categories working for userboxes recently. I've tried to do this for other userboxes (eg order of the phoenix userbox) but have been unsuccessful. Would you please be able to tell me how to do this? Thanks, NighthawkLeader 10:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
    • Sorry to have bothered you- category appears to have actaully worked after all :) NighthawkLeader 10:58, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
  • Ok thanks a lot for that :) I thought it was working when I saw my name on the category thinking that I was the only one with the userbox on their page, then I saw it on another userpage, and began to wonder what I was doing wrong again. So that's cleared everything up for me. Thanks again, NighthawkLeader 23:37, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. I don't mind you requesting help at all. It was no trouble. :) -Starstuff 02:17, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Recent anon contributions

I know about this anon. We've had trouble with him before. Thing is, he's not actually doing anything wrong. He was banned for adding fanon before, and I'm going through his recent additions now cleaning them up and checking for anything that might need a warning. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 01:24, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Alright. I believe that the anon is well-meaning, but it might still be helpful to leave him a note about proofreading his contributions, to save time in the future. Thanks again. -Starstuff 02:16, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
