The "usual library book spells" were a standard set of jinxes placed on the books in the Hogwarts Library by the librarian Madam Pince, presumably to help protect the books from damage while they were checked out. It was possible that the Thief's Curse was among them.[1]
Before reproducing the library's copy of Quidditch Through the Ages for mass and Muggle publication, Albus Dumbledore removed these spells from the books, though he admitted that Madam Pince had a tendency to cast "unusual jinxes" on her books and thus could not confirm the book was completely jinx-free.[1]
