The Virgo symbol
Virgo is one of the twelve astrological signs in the western zodiac.[1] Every year, the sun is in this sign from 22 August to 21 September, and those born during this period are considered Virgos (also called Virgoans).[2] The Daily Prophet ran a horoscope for Virgo and the other signs of the zodiac in the horoscope section featured on its back page by 1995.[3]
Traits[]
Virgos, were often known for their sharp intellect, practical nature, and high standards. They were ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication, which made them exceptionally analytical, logical, and detailed-oriented.[4]
One of the most defining traits of a Virgo was their intelligence. Virgos were driven by an insatiable curiosity, constantly seeking to learn and grow. This thirst for knowledge often made them the brainy individuals of the zodiac, much like how Hermione Granger (b. 19 September) was famously called the "cleverest witch of her age". A Virgo's intellect was often evident in their problem-solving abilities and quick thinking in any given situation.[4]
Virgos weee also perfectionists. They were known for having very high standards, both for themselves and those around them. This tendency to strive for perfection could make them seem critical or even overly meticulous, but it came from a genuine desire to ensure things are done well. However, this perfectionism could lead to frustration when things didn't meet their expectations. It was a trait that often makes Virgos their own harshest critics.[4]
Practicality is another core aspect of Virgo energy. Virgos are grounded and prefer to focus on what’s practical and achievable. They tend to avoid daydreaming or indulging in fantasy, preferring instead to approach problems with a clear, logical mindset. Their ability to stay level-headed in tough situations makes them natural problem-solvers who can navigate challenges effectively.[4]
Despite their often serious exterior, Virgos were deeply caring and supportive. They were the friends who will always lend a hand or offer helpful advice when needed. This kindness was often practical, as they love to provide useful solutions to problems. Whether it was giving advice on how to improve something or helping others achieve their goals, Virgos showed their love through action.[4]
Although Virgos were often seen as model citizens and the good ones, they also possessed a secret rebellious streak. Ruled by Mercury, they were known for their witty sense of humour and dry charm, which sometimes led them to break the rules or indulge in some playful mischief. This hidden side added an extra layer to the typically methodical and serious Virgo nature.[4]
