The Walter Aragon Wizard Chess Competition trophy was a trophy awarded to the victor of the Walter Aragon Wizard Chess Competition.
Description[]
The trophy was a large gold trophy with a statuette of a knight on top holding a mace, possibly representing the chess piece of the same name.
History[]

The final round of the competition
The competition was a Wizard's Chess competition held in Flourish and Blotts between teams of four. In the 1988–1989 school year, Murphy McNully organised a team together to beat Celine Castillon's team from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, who had a long standing rivalry with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry over Wizard's Chess and an unbroken streak of wins. Murphy's team managed to beat Celine's team in an underdog victory, winning the trophy.[1]
Later, when Murphy's team were celebrating at the Three Broomsticks Inn, they all agreed that Jacob's sibling should keep the trophy, as they were the one who faced Celine on the centre board.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- It's currently unknown if the Walter Aragon Wizard Chess Competition was held before or after the 1988–1989 school year. Therefore, Murphy's team remains the only known possessors of the trophy.
