The Wampanoag were a Native American people who lived in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.[1]

By 1631, word of Ilvermorny, Isolt Sayre and James Steward's newly-founded school of magic, was spreading.[2] Two young wizards from the Wampanoag tribe were among its first students.[2] They shared the magical knowledge of their people in return for instruction in wand use.[2]
