The hair of the Wampus cat was used as a wand core by the American wandmaker Johannes Jonker.[1]
History[]
The core was first used by Isolt Sayre and James Steward when they begun making their own wands in the 17th century.[2] Jonker experimented with many other cores before settling on the hair of this creature as his preferred kind.[1] The Cherokee most extensively studied the Wampus cat, they shared native regions, and were the only people able to obtain it to use as a wand core.[3]
