A watering can is a portable container, with a hand and funnel, used to water plants by hand.[5]
History[]
Enchanted watering cans were used to water plants in the grounds of Hogwarts during the late 19th century.[6]
Watering cans were kept in the Herbology greenhouses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for watering the various plants that grew in them.[1][4][7][3] In 1996, Professor Pomona Sprout awarded Harry Potter twenty house points to Gryffindor for handing her a watering can in the greenhouses, in order to show her support for his interview in The Quibbler, despite being forbidden to discuss it by Educational Decree Number Twenty-Six.[1]
Rubeus Hagrid kept a watering can outside his hut on the Hogwarts grounds.[2][4]
Watering cans were often collected and used by members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force during the Calamity in the late 2010s/early 2020s, in order to water plants and fungi growing in wizarding greenhouses used to brew potions.[8]
