Wayne Hopkins was a half-blood wizard who began attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1991. He was in the same year as Harry Potter and was sorted into the Hufflepuff house.[3]

The name "Wayne" is from an occupational surname meaning "wagon maker", derived from Old English wægn "wagon".
