Webster Boot's wand was of an unknown wood and length, and contained a Horned Serpent horn core. The wand was manufactured by Isolt Sayre and James Steward for Webster's eleventh birthday.[1]

History[]

Webster Boot had moved to the New World with his parents and brother several years earlier. When his parents died, he was adopted by Isolt Sayre and James Steward and was living at Ilvermorny. For his eleventh birthday, he had requested a wand. Isolt and James crafted a wand for him similar to the wand of his elder brother, Chadwick.[1]

Webster was given his wand two years after his brother. While Chadwick's wand was made of prickly ash, the exact wood used to construct Webster's wand is unknown. However, they were both given wands with Horned Serpent horn as the core material. Isolt had a dream the evening before Chadwick's eleventh birthday, where she went down to the creek to find the Horned Serpent come up to her from the water and bow its head to her, and let her take a shard of its horn. When Isolt woke, she went down to the creek where the Horned Serpent was waiting for her, and as in her dream, received shards of its horn. She then took it to James, who was a skilled craftsman, and they created Chadwick's wand. They later did the same for Webster.[1]

Isolt had a protective instinct not to make any more wands of Horned Serpent horn other than for her adoptive sons. The wand proved to be adept for duelling, as evidenced by Webster's duel with Gormlaith Gaunt five years later. Gormlaith did not know Webster and his brother were living at Ilvermorny, so they were not sent into an enchanted slumber by her spell; because their wands were made with the horn of the great river serpent, they were not made inactive when she spoke Parseltongue. The wands instead recognised the language, and made the sound of a low musical note to warn its owner. The sound woke Chadwick and Webster, who then went to duel Gormlaith.[1]

When Webster helped Chadwick, the twin cores of their wands increased their exceptional power. However, Gormlaith matched their power with her extensive knowledge of Dark magic, eventually forcing the brothers to retreat back into Ilvermorny.[1]
