Werewolf Support Services was a part of the Being Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Despite werewolves being classed as Beasts, they were acknowledged to be Beings during their untransformed state. Werewolf Support Services offered aid to those afflicted with the condition.[1]
However, due to the negative stigma werewolves had in the wizarding society, no werewolf ever used the service, and it was eventually closed down.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- It is possible that Kingsley Shacklebolt had the Werewolf Support Services reopened in order to help witches and wizards who struggled in the same manner as his own deceased friend from the days of the Order of the Phoenix, Remus Lupin.
- Harry Potter originally proposed the Ministry provide free Wolfsbane Potion to any werewolf who want them. Although this was seemingly scrapped, it also indicated that progress was made to reinstate the Services.[2]
